I think Project Farm did a test around 2019 and he monitored temps as it broke down the hair, grease and so on. Plus, I recall he was doing it in really thin plastic cups. I think if a plastic cup can handle it for hours, black PVC and the adhesive can too.

It would be interesting to see a long term study on repeated use of Drano on pipes to see if it really does erode them over time.

@@dadondemandproject farm also used drano in a Pyrex with dog hair, vegetables, piece of PVC and some other things. At its hottest after 10-15 minutes it was like 100 degrees not very hot

The potentially harmful part of draino is not temperature its how corrosive it is, corrosion effects different materials differently for example most corrosive materials do literally nothing to plastic even over long exposures meanwhile those same corrosive materials often eat away quickly at metals. This is because plastic is typically made of long thin atomic chains where as metal is a crystal structure which is much easier to corrode.

I really do appreciate project farm in all the work he does but sometimes his videos almost seem tailored towards a specific product in my opinion it's very well concealed but I can almost guess it from the beginning or maybe it's just good products I don't know but it's hard to tell these days on KZitem I miss the old days of KZitem where there was no affiliate link or reason for reviewing something it was just being reviewed instead of selling a product

I have a kitchen sink that drains slowly, was thinking about using Drano - but after this vid I'll definitely try the plastic unclogger first. Thanks, mister!

Also I do not use drano all the time, which I can understand over use it would destroy the pipes. But in a pinch it works great. And I dont work for Drano

I've worked for years as a plumber and have replaced long stretches of melted pipe due to repeated use of drano. Also, the chemical burns are no fun.

I think that answers the question better than my video. Thanks for the input.

Shoot, I just looked in my shower drain tonight and I may try to get a picture of it…. My ex used drano a few times and literally the inside of my pvc pipe in the shower is all contorted.. literally chemically melted… DONT USE DRANO!!!

It speeds along corrosion, which over time can cause little holes in the pipe leading to an unnecessarily expensive fix. It's really repeated use that does that though. You're better off getting one of those long, skinny, spiky plastic things as shown in this video.

Well luckily the hack job that did the plumbing at my house didn't seem to use any adhesive so I guess I'm all good

I tried using those things that he used to pull hair out, it took out some, but used drano and cleared it right away. What if you have grease or something In your drain " That tool won't work, I also used hot boiling water as well. and did not work.

That tool clears up 90% of all the drain clogs I get. The tougher ones might need either Drano or the Dawn and hot water treatment you can find on KZitem. I think it would be ok to use it once in a while but not on a regular basis. That's just my opinion though. I'm not a plumber.

I agree, it was a tough hair clog and the tool did not pull enough out so I did use drano. and I do not use it all the time. I usually poor scolding hot water down my drains so ofter, good idea with the dawn thought
