I remember struggling through most of my childhood in school, all through the end of high school. I always felt like a zombie, falling asleep in class or just having glossy red eyes. It didn't seem to matter how early I slept beforehand. When I started drinking coffee, all that changed for me, particularly when going to college. I was more studious, alert and was able to focus on the professor. Some people don't need caffeine but I've found that it is absolutely a necessity in my life.

I've never liked coffee up until last year when I stopped guzzling down liters of coke every day. I never understood the appeal of coffee because I was too used to caffeine in coke and energy drinks and the heaps of sugar that goes with them. Now I hardly ever drink coffee at home, but when I go out or am at a job site and I drink 2 cups of coffee, I get hyped and energized. I feel what the caffeine does and it's beautiful.

I was at a summer camp in Norway a good few years ago. At the main lodge they had a coffee machine that served hot chocolate. Being a bunch of kids, we managed to empty the machine so many times that the councilors decided "No more chocolate for you". After fighting about it for a while I was about ready to accept defeat...until it struck me. "They didn't say we couldn't have chocolate in the coffee, that should be about the same thing right?". I nearly died of caffeine shock several times that trip, my blood pressure was constantly through the roof. And that's the story of the first time i drank "Coffee". Now i'm a moderate caffeine addict. What was the first time you drank coffee?

+Cesar ”Isaac” Perez Well It is really not so simple. The reason as to why I distrust all of these studies, because there really are a ton of them, which say that those who do this and that live longer is because there is absolutely no telling what actually cause it. The longer life for cofee drinkers may just be because those who do drink coffee are generally better of when it comes to wealth (if that's the case to begin with). So my tip would be to not really worry so much about this study and others. In the long run its probably the healthiest option.

+Anton Markovskis (TGFAnton) You got the tablets but aren't taking them? (This is what doing too many logic puzzles does to your mind kids)
@Samiby
8 жыл бұрын
+Anton Markovskis (TGFAnton) I used to take them when working the night shift. I found that they were only effective properly when they were taken at the point that I was most exhausted and nearing the absolute verge of falling asleep (ie falling asleep whilst still standing up). This would help me to stay up another 4 hours. If I took anymore after the 4 hours, the time I could stay awake longer fell by half each time. I also found that if I took the tablets randomly during the daytime, by the time it was night time, I felt that the tablets had actually accelerated my feeling of tiredness, and if I took any extra tablets at this point, as I mentioned about the reduced effectiveness, I would not be able to stay awake as long throughout the night. So I find that the best practise of using caffeine tablets is to only use them when you are on the verge of falling asleep. The boost you might get during the day isn't worth the increased tiredness at night, unless you want to keep taking an hourly supply of caffeine which is why most coffee drinkers have a high tolerance now to caffeine and need at least 10 cups to get through a day.

Just a sip is enough to send my heart into almost fibrillation, to make my head hurt and my stomach hurt as if I've just had 10 ulcers at the same time. It is an unbelievable unpleasant effect. However, I can drink Coca Cola with no problem, it tastes 1000 times better AND it does what caffeine should do (wakes you up). If you liked this video, you may also want to know that there's research out there saying that coffee makes heart and vessel disease (cardiovascular disease) worse because it raises LDL cholesterol, but that’s not the whole story! We now know that LDL particles can either be large and buoyant, or small and dense. When LDL particles are large and buoyant, they can help decrease risk of cardiovascular disease (CVD). And coffee can transition LDL particles from small and dense to large and buoyant, decreasing CVD risk!

Your research showed that instant coffee has 5.7mg of caffeine per serving? That can't possibly be right. It's more like 57mg.

I wonder if coffee longevity is partly caused by the social aspects. I wonder if it's the opposite in tea cultures?

If caffeine is probably not good for us (because could increase blood pressure and heart rate, among other things) but coffee might be, why should we be worried? Irish coffee, Canary coffee or even decaf coffee, it doesn't matter! Let's enjoy drinking a cuppa at morning! ;)
