Mike the trick to amazon flex is to wait until closer to the shift start time before taking a shift because that's when I've extremely often seen $30/hr or more in the payouts. Also prime now delivery shifts are much easier as you just deliver groceries that have already been bagged up for you and you also get tips as well but it follows the same concept, the closer it is to the shift start time the higher the pay will likely be. So basically it just isn't worth it to take shifts days in advance cuz the pay will likely only he that $18/hr or so

Wow. I think that little nugget of information at the end really changes the equation in a lot of markets, if not all. You sign up for the evening shift, get stuck with a package, return centre closed, you have to return it next morning out of your own pocket. Wow. That could be a deal breaker

Never do a $54 route. Definitely never schedule them in advance. At least in Dallas, if you just wait until an hour before you're ready to work, the same 3hr routes are usually paying $76 or more instead.

I find it much easier to first somewhat alphabetize the packages by street name in my car, though even then it can be a little frustrating finding each one when I need it. Flex drivers are owner operators using own car, own fuel, and accruing wear & tear on said car. It's improper to calculate earnings as pay/hour. You calculate pay/mile. When you do it that way, you may come to find that Flex is not worth the effort, as did I. If you're making less than $0.60 per mile (measured from the moment you pull out of your driveway to the moment you return there to park for the night) then run for the hills.

Usually make 210-230 for 8 hours and many times complete block 20-30 minutes before end time, and average fuel per block is about 4-4,5 gallons on my car. So, it's not a bad job, sometimes it very interesting, sometimes trouble and nervous but isn't boring

I drive for Amazon and live 3 minutes from the warehouse. I am waiting to get on the flex app but I am hoping on my days off from a full shift I can deliver packages in my car once a week at least to get some spending money. There are tricks with the flex app like if you see you have a business you can skip your deliveries and go to the business first. If you are having trouble with the pin at an apartment complex put your phone in airplane mode with the bluetooth on to complete the delivery.

Interesting video. Thanks. What about the expenses involved like fuel, wear and tear on a vehicle, vehicle insurance, taxes etc. Driving twenty five minutes in my vehicle would probably cost too much. Fuel prices are up, going up. I'd assume there must be a make or break between vehicles with good miles to the gallon and others that could lower income with independent contractor expenses.

In my experience, the warehouse that you deliver from is very important too. I have about three in my area, one is great, one is alright, and one is absolutely horrible. At the worst one, not only did I frequently get damaged packages, but I also got routes with directions that were extremely bad. Unprofessional staff, and their mismanagement would often cause me a late start of upwards of 30 minutes. Meaning I’d be finishing later than expected. The great warehouse however was very professional, good routes, never gave you more packages than you could deliver within the time period, and were extremely helpful. They’d also let us start as early as possible so I appreciated that. However that’s apart of the problem. Of all the gig apps out there, this one feels the most inconsistent. I never know what kind of service I’m going to get. Personally I’d take almost any app over Flex which is a shame, because I like the concept and find it somewhat enjoyable when everything is working correctly. Things just go wrong so often it doesn’t feel worth it.

Dang, that station setup sucks. The one I go to doesn't match the block times (but you just tell them if the block is longer than your shift to get a different route), they're so busy they just give people whatever. I had a 5 hour logistics block the other day at $155.50, got assigned a 2.5 hour route, finished it in 1.5 hours. It was same-days from the day before that never got delivered, so everything was "late" before I even scanned them in. Does anyone actually call the customer for late deliveries like the app says? Or just deliver them anyway because there's no way in hell I'm taking this package back to the station...

Just went to Amazon warehouse to pick up for my route with ten other cars and we waited but no one came over and we all got paid and went home. Also the size of your car determines if you can get a larger route. Not guaranteed but it gives you the option that a car doesn't get. Back to the paid to go home. You won't get your pay in your account until 30 min after your shift was supposed to end. Example mine was 3pm to 7:00 pm (4hr block) but the pay won't show up in my account until 7:30 pm. Though I still won't get paid till tomorrow but thought I'd let y'all know.

Yeah SD I lived a bit closer to one and the runs were easy enough but there’s few circumstances I would recommend this full time

Had my first AF package delivery shift today, not sure how I feel about it. The main issue I had was the app, which wasn't working properly at check-in. The attendant did me a favor by checking in the packages since I wasn't able to scan them, but he didn't get all the packages. I didn't find this out until the end of my deliveries, though, which added about 35 minutes to my delivery time. I ended up finishing a half hour late, and had to return two packages because a business closed at 5. Also, a lot of miles to get to and from the delivery area. I'll probably do a couple more shifts when I can, but the jury is out on this gig.

Thanks for sharing, the rep actually said I ‘didn’t have a QR code’ for my route so he scanned it manually which was new. Typically the Flex app will say you haven’t scanned all your packages and wont let you start so that’s unique.
