The decrease in wattage over time does make sense, id prefer google prioitizing battery life over super fast charging. 85% in 45 mine pleanty fast enough to last the day as their battery optimisation is way better on the g4 chip

@@EllEmm149 Nah, you don't need the 5 amp (e marked) cable! The 45W spec is 21 volts and 2.25 Amps. It's the PPS standard. So I don't think the cable matters. I get the same 32 watts charging with the original cable and the correct PPS charger.

I tested yesterday with the new 45W Pixel Charger and it tooks 1:18 from 1 to 100%...today i tested the old 30W Pixel Charger and it tooks 1:15 from 1 to 100% 😅😅😅🙈 soooo i will send back the 45W Charger! It's unbelievable! 😢😮

The Google 45W charger is actually Awesome! It is charging my Lenovo Yoga 9i laptop flawlessly while watching KZitem and streaming ESPN college football game right now. Usually I would get an error message if I try to charge my laptop with anything less powerful than the original charger, or my 100W brick. This charger is legit. I'm keeping it, even though I don't really need it.

I can live with this on my 9 pro XL. I have the 45 watt Samsung charger and this is maybe 12 -14 minutes slower than with the ultra line. Better than the hour 45 that the 8 pro takes and WAY better than the 2 hours and change of the 7 pro. Long as the battery life is long? (Which by all accounts it is...I get mine tomorrow.) Then I'm not too pressed if I'm only charging before bed.

I saw a scientific study and test done that showed that super fast charging in smartphones is killing the battery faster. And i guess that is why the main players in the smartphone game are taking it easy when it comes to it. I mean look at samsung, google and apple.

Your charger should have PPS at 21v 2.25a. Then you should be good. I don't think you need a 5 amp (e marked) cable. The cable that comes with the phone is good.

Hmmm... I'll have to check things over, but I currently use a ugreen 64W that charges 2 devices at the same time. I'm not sure this charger is doing anything new - especially with adaptive charging throttling the charge. Interesting video all the same!

You just have to check the specs of your charger, If it supports PPS up to about 19V or so then it should work just as fast. Google isn't doing anything proprietary, it is following the USB-C specification, it is just that not every charger on the market supports it at the voltage they are using.

@@OmairArifI checked, and my 65W UGreen GaN charger does PPS etc and is 3+ years old with 2 ports... So that's cheaper and better featured than this Google charger.

@@MrPurle The exact spec to look for is PPS at 21 volts 2.25 amps. Then you're guaranteed a similar charging performance to the Google charger. Anything lower, you might not be getting the full 37W

Thanks for this video! I just got the new google 45W charger and an other one that does PPS at 21v and 2.25a. I plugged in my tester as well and it maxed out at 32W. Never got the elusive 45W. Battery temp to begin with: 33c Charge level: 7% Adaptive battery: Off and also tried with on I used the cable that came with the phone. I don't think the google charger is worth it when there are other chargers that can do 45W with PPS as well.

It's not supposed to hit 45W. 45W is what the charger is rated for, it isn't what the phone is rated for.

OEMs use all the marketing tricks and by saying it supports 45 watt charging people are easily swayed. It initially hits 37 watts for the first 30% and then relaxes as it protects the battery life cycle.

Unfortunately a custom launcher is the only option. Not sure if that'll change with Android 15. It pains me to say this but I switched to Nova launcher. I was missing too much on the stock launcher (like double tap to sleep). The performance is not as good though on a custom launcher. Definitely drops a few frames when scrolling for apps

32 watts actually isn't bad fast charging if it charges consistently at 32 watts. My older Poco phone charges at 33 watts and I was very happy with it's charging just over an hour. Battery is 4500mah.
