In the new world of Gravel Cycling, we have seen large swaths of cycling enthusiasts transfer from across many cycling disciplines into this exciting and fulfilling new faction of the sport. In its beginnings, Gravel Cycling was a way to revolt against the sanctioned and perfectly curated races that existed in both Road and XC cycling. Many people saw it as a way to "mix it up" and experience more unpredictability in their cycling journey. Now, today, with hundreds of large Gravel Events being held throughout the US every year, it can be difficult for anyone to find and pinpoint the exact events that will be right for them. Not only that, but determining the most competitive fields within gravel cycling events can be tricky with many distance options being offered--sure to confuse many who are looking for the field with the top level competition. For those of us just looking for a nice chance to ride with a large group of people and have a fun day, this isn't as much an issue: just select the mileage that jives with your fitness and have fun. Let's be real though, this up and coming discipline in the sport of cycling is not going anywhere and I believe it has a chance to set US cycling apart from anywhere else in the world... now can we just get it organized like some of USA cyclings top disciplines are? We will see!
