At the moment I am up on intel 13% and I’ll most likely sell around $40, I remember making a report on them during college and they were sitting at $50 5 years ago, so will I take the risk and sell on $50 probably not

Fair enough! You got a good price it sounds like. Out of curiosity, what was the report about?

@@actualinvesting my college report? Haha so the professor has a portfolio but one man can only know so much so every year he gives a assignment to write on a company that isn’t on his portfolio, this guy in my group was really into pc components and a fan of intel, so he really wanted intel and went with that but in the end we have to give our personal opinion if we’d personally invest and after looking at their P/E ratio, gains quarter reports, etc said no, and glad I said no because I’d be down if I invested 5 years ago

Depends on your goals and tolerance for risk. Do you look for stable and steady returns, or are you looking for a potential big winner? I think Intel would be a good buy if you can handle some risk and you’re looking for a bigger reward. It looks cheap, but only because they have a lot of uncertainty.

I looked closely into Intel and decided not to invest. Of course the reason being that TSMC is a possible supply chain issue due to it's location. Intel's foundries are already well advanced and not doing very well, and there are lots of other foundries in the US, not just Intel to compete with on the AI boom. Intel are getting lots of government incentives and still can't make it work. Hopefully Intel will do well but I'm not going to risk it either, despite the drop to 5 year lows.

is this sector it takes years to work out building such high end facilities in Ohio and Europe will be key. this is a true long term value play. buffett's saying be greedy when others are fearful fits perfectly (July/2024).

@Nickjerret... Did you intentionally leave out TSMC receiving $$$$BILLIONS, around $10+ BILLION free money from USA, EU, Japan etc.. and TSMC is bla foreign company..

The West does not want to rely on one Taiwanese chip company. Especially with the risk of being take over by China. They want to diversify and more or less control the production in their western territory. The market is and will be big enough for several players in this space.

They have lost all ability to attract the top talent in the industry. It's hard to catch up against companies that only execute at the highest of level, with the highest talent. If you are the best young talent in photolithography, you are not choosing intel over ASML. If you are a promising young talent and interested in semi manufacturing and design, will you choose TSMC... Applied Materials... ARM? Intel laughed at AMD spinning off their foundry operations in 2009... who is laughing now. It is hard to play catch up when the other team has thousands of Tom Brady clones further advancing at the same time.

Well said. It’s hard to see this turnaround story working out in Intel’s favor. But their current valuation does reflect a lot of pessimism, so even slightly decent execution might lead to a rising share price. But I agree, they lost their edge completely.

@@actualinvestingI don't think you can just say they choose TSMC considering you would basically have to move to Taiwan.

Intel's foundry business is now a huge tailwind as it's a national security risk to rely on TSMC. Intel will catch up and become the second biggest player in the world.

@@LandonDean-zk4wn Intel's main goal is to eventually become number 2 in the space. They have 2% of the market. Samsung is in second with 11%. Their goal is to surpass a business that has 11% of a market. If companies are accepting, they cannot compete with TSMC, then maybe... the security risk is overblown. China will not cut themselves off of the semi supply chain. They've invested billions in doing so and still cannot.
