Full credit to Brighton FC for their brilliant scouting, recruitment, coaching, management. The lost Potter and got BETTER. Arguably the best run club in England. They absolutely swindled Chelsea with Cucarella too 😆

especially the midfield, Thiago-Henderson-Fabinho are all slow and aging. Therefor they provide no pressure to the opponents so the mid got passed easily. The opposition only need to penetrate their defense and that's it, Liverpool playing with a high line didn't help either with Matip making so many mistakes.

When the team was conceding goals left right and center many us were calling for a midfielder. Didn't you see how we were pressing less than our ucl and pl winning seasons last season. We have been shouting a long time for this. Infact at the start of the season after we beat City in the community shield when Klopp said he doesn't need a midfielder there was a lot of backlash about that. So it's not just hindsight my friend

@craig Doc even Salah himself is proving that right now we need a midfielder because it's his worst season but this stat will surprise you 👀 but Salah has scored 17 goals and 6 assists if you don't believe me look it up yourself and this is his worst season so i do blame Klopp. It's so obvious we need a midfielder. Of course most of the bigger problem is fsg but Klopp has a hand in this as well.

@craig Doc The contention isn’t that whether Liverpool needed a CM or not, The contention is that people are talking a load of crock saying Klopp spent the money unwisely on Darwin and Gakpo when it’s clear as day that Mane and Origi leaving meant Klopp had to spend money on Nunez and Gakpo If you deny that, then there’s no point in arguing with you. And if he hadn’t done that all these people including you claiming Klopp shouldn’t have wasted money on forwards would be claiming the opposite asking why he spent the money buying midfielders. The fact of the matter is Klopp should have had more money to work with but he didn’t, so he prioritised the area of the pitch where Liverpool lost a very key player. Hardly unreasonable spending. Everyone knows this, they just need to stop being disingenuous.

Common mane had a better 2 nd half of of last season in 2 seasons. Plus Diaz is the long time replacement of mane and you can he was better than him last season plus even if mane was there with that midfield couldn't get anything

I'm surprised nobody talks about how integral Mané was to Liverpools team. Not only was his pressing important to Liverpool playing on the front foot but his goals were more clutch than Mo Salah's goals. Tell me I'm wrong Liverpool fans🤔

I think the hangover from last season (which was a crazy one) carried on into the start of this season which has affected the morale of the team. And I doubt they'll recover from this until next season.

so many teams struggling with injuries. No one talking about the lack of off season bc of the winter world cup as well as the ever increasing schedule. Players need to rest after a long season so they can come back physically and mentally strong. Football is at a level now where profits come before sustainable player health and squads are being depleted to keep up with the schedule.

The issues with the midfield creativity, breaking down defensive teams, lapses in concentration, failure of the forward line to finish chances in big games and to kill of smaller teams / games when we were leading has been there since the 1/2 way point in the previous season. That is the reason why we lost the league to City and the UCL final to Real. The two cups won on penalties papered over cracks which have now become glaring issues this season.

What people forget to realise. Yes we have a ageing midfield. But we lost mane whose a massive loss i would say more of a loss than if salah had gone. Also yhe main point we played every single game last season that was possible. A bad season or bad period shouldn't be surprising.

I agree with Klopp regarding the transfer window but the question needs to be asked how are Liverpool experiencing these injuries which are appearing to become more commonplace. Every team gets injuries which is understandable but what the hell is happening in training with players.

What’s wrong at Liverpool? Not a Liverpool fan but if you ask me from listening to klopp, this was the first time I’ve ever heard him say his team were bad. Every other week he says they were outstanding. Saying outstanding while losing 3-1 to Brentford and 2-1 to Leeds isn’t going to fix the issues, it’s letting them get away with it every week.

Liverpool fan here. One of the most infuriating things with our recent transfer activity is the fact that we have players on our radar and then decide to pay crazy money for them to snatch them away from a rival rather than being proactive and signing the players for a relatively low fee. Case in point would be Gakpo, Nunez and Diaz. All players tracked long before we signed them for high fees. If we signed them earlier for lower fee's, my argument would be that we would have funds available to sign the legs in middle of the park that we are currently lacking. Even Enzo Fernández or Caicedo, would have been available for lower sums had we signed them a year sooner. I would rather lose 4.5 mil on a dud then 100M. We've moved away from the type of shrewdness that Brighton show in the transfer market and decided to spend our whole budget on a few big name signings. In hindsight, a bad transfer strategy. Likely why Edwards and now Ward are leaving.

There's also midfielders like Bounanotte and Perrone that were avialable for ridiculously low fees and Liverpool hasn't even heard of them, the scouting team is trash and only know of players when they're 100M+, or even worse, they know about them but let City, Brighton, Benfica, Ajax snatch them, Liverpool might be the worse club in the prem when it comes to signing young talents

Jurgen can't do much with this squad especially in the midfield it has no legs some are past it & some aren't ready, so there isn't a middle ground in this midfield. FSG is the major problem at the club they are refusing to back Klopp in this window or last summer, plus if a takeover is closed to being done by some accounts why should FSG spend cash now knowing they are most likely gone by upcoming summer window.

Brighton make the best signings in the whole of the Premier League, they know what they're doing, they have a world cup champion in their squad that is only 23, Mac Allister, and they also have Caicedo who is also class, most of the big 6 have no idea how to sign players

Dunno why Klopp was getting aggro with the journalist. He's bought forwards because of injuries but he's saying that when everyone comes back he'll have 7 strikers...so surely the money he spent on forwards should have been spent on midfielders which is clearly the main problem area in the team. Simon Jordan is quick to say' fix it', but there are so many variables here: injuries, new signings settling in, new players learning to work together, the loss of Mane, Salah's dip in form,etc. Klopp hasn't become a bad manager overnight. Give the man a break. Liverpool haven't had a manager this good for decades.

@Junior Browne Fair comment, especially what u say about Klopp getting emotional. It doesn't help at all. He used to have a good balance between being assured and emotionally charged, but now it's a touch too much on the emotional side. I guess the rival managers look at that and think they have got him cornered.

@TrailBlazers Totally agree with that. The team isn't set up quite right and he isn't getting the service he needs. Actually, when the PL resumed, he seemed super hungry to get back to showing us what he is capable of, so it must be very frustrating for him. In line with 'Junior Browne's ' comment above, I think a big part of the prob is Firmino's absense.

But Simon is fair in his criticism just like he is his praise. I think what he really meant is Klopp was deflecting and he's not falling for it. Klopp has earned the right to deflect in my opinion but not everyone has to buy it. Klopp has been doing way too much talking in my opinion and seems to be getting more emotional which wasn't the case in the first half of his Liverpool tenure. He'll be fine and the team will be fine once everyone is fit. Not having Firmino and Diaz is a big problem for them at the moment. Firmino dropping deep to help the midfield is criminally underrated

I think Liverpool players are exhausted,klop high pressing and high intensity tactics for the past 3-4 seasons has wore them out. His tactics takes out enough energy from players.

No mention here of the fact that Virgil Van Dyke is out of the mix - this has to make some difference . It also has to be said that the loss of Sadio Mane simply cannot be underestimated . Sadio was the player consistently scoring goals at the end of last season . He has not been effectively replaced . When you have a player as good as that , you can actually make up for some of the issues in other parts of the team . Letting him go is perhaps the biggest mistake of the Klopp era , and there have not been many to be fair .

Sadly this was on the cards 3 seasons ago…having 9 first team players on deals that all ended the same day! Which is this summer was a disaster waiting to happen. When Gini W left and Thiago came in me and my mates were scratching our heads…then Salah started his whinging! He ain’t anything without Mane and Bobby. That gig was done, and JK and his team have to hold their hands up. Giving 4 yr deals to 28 YO’s would never have happened in BS, BP, JF of KD’s era… We cannot pay or play our way out of this…at least 9/10 of that squad will be gone come summer. And I do not for one minute expect FSG or Saudi owners to ADD more multimillion players to us right now…

The players are knackered.. they played every single game possible last year. There’s a reason it has not been done before. Example, Henderson played 50 odd games..more games than Arsenal played last year

Beginning of the season all the pundits were saying how Liverpool & City will be battling it out for the title, now look where we are, Arsenal sitting comfortably top, Liverpool 9th and Chelsea 10th. just pure waffle from them all except Martin Keown.

Liverpool and Klopp more importantly need a couple of big statement signings to reinvigorate the energy round the club. Give Klopp a few hundred million and let him loose in the candy shop. The League needs a strong Liverpool.

All Liverpool fans seen this coming,the midfield is awful, I have to question why so many players get injured under klopp , I don’t remember so many players being injured before Jurgen ,think someone at the club needs to look into that also

They're midfield isn't as functional as it was. It's showing up a lot in defence, but to me they're playing style has changed, it's not as much 'heavy metal" football anymore because their midfield isn't as active as it was. Harvey Elliot isn't a good defensive player but seems to play a lot. Henderson and fabinho just don't have the engine for that anymore either and thiago never was that. Not to mention milner who's a great professional but past that too.

Budget aside, it's the midfield that needs to improve. They have Diaz and Jota out up top. They don't need improvement there.

maybe instead of spending 100m on Nunez, MAYBE, he could have gone out and bought two QUALITY midfielders to supplement the old legs during the middle of the season? just a thought

@Z. S he managed to scrape into the top 4 that season but if he doesn't this time then i bet he walks. can't see him starting all over again in the europa league back when he started the job.

Klopp hasn't become a bad manager over night there's a magic formula to football and its very hard to find it .he lost a couple of important players sand hasn't found the right ones .look at other managers brendan Rogers cannot find his mojo some teams for what ever reason just gel look when Leicester won the prem .

FSG needs to go clearly Klopp is trying to not to blame the lack money on transfers but Klopp knows transfer is needed in midfielders.

People love downplaying how important Mane actually was to Liverpool's system. Dude was a beast, pressing, defending, creating chances for Salah as well. He was never truly appreciated at Liverpool

@Knight Watch He was rubbish and made virtually no difference two seasons before when we went through a very similar patch of horrible form. He wouldn't make any discernible difference right now. Also its the other round. Salah was the one creating chances for him and the rest of the team along with TAA and Robbo. Mane hardly did any play making. His role was to press like a machine, drop back and defend when playing off ball which he was excellent at.

@Zealand lol I'm sure he was very poor when contributing 16 goals in the PL last season and 5 in the Champs league. He was the workhouse on the left side of the pitch, you just don't wanna admit it. I'm glad he left Liverpool, no appreciation for his contributions

This is on FSG These days especially in the PL where you have so many Clubs with money you have to keep spending if you wanna keep up sadly I am talking about if you have high expectations to win tittles n stuff or you can be like Brighton don't spend much but Recruitment is on point obviously Brighton aren't expecting to win tittle n stuff different expectations look at their Boston Red Sox not much investment there either

Liverpool have spent a fortune. Most expensive keeper. Is van dyke still the most expensive defender? 85million on nunes 50 on gakpo. Money isnt the issue with liverpool,the issue has been signing players for positions that are not the priority. By spending nearly 150 million on 2 wingers/strikers and not putting the funds into the midfield has arguably cost liverpool their seat at the top table

To be fair Nunez, Diaz and Gakpo weren't cheap. He could've left one of them and signed a midfielder.

Klopp takes over and within 4 years, builds a team, but he doesn't renew it fast enough and by the seventh year, it falls apart and he leaves. Check his previous clubs. This is going to be his last year at Liverpool.

It’s not all Klopps fault. Though he has never been able to successfully deal with large squads. He will stick to the same trusted players and lacks the courage to change when they need changing. As a result the group grinds down all at the same time. His supporting elements should be in there offering the advice and not letting klopp run a club almost unchecked at times. If it was a garage who maintained cars and ran the parts down the mechanic gets sacked or at least briefed up and retrained. He doesn’t develop young players so liverpool have a group of youngster who are not good enough. Age shouldn’t matter if they are good enough ie Saka Rooney(back when) Giggs, Bellingham. But since the youth are not brought through well enough there’s a vacuum behind the tried and trusted 14 first team regulars and the other squad numbers on the team photo. That’s on klopp. Guardiola manages it. Arteta manages it. SAF managed it. Wenger, Zidane, Simone and Ancelotti all managed it

I think that last year FSG came to realise that they couldn't really compete financially with the likes of City, Newcastle, Chelsea and Tottenham etc. So, they made it clear that they are open to offers for either investment and co-ownership or to a complete takeover. I think all will be revealed in the fullness of time.

To easy to play against. Mane, Bobby and Salah made the high pressing game work, now they aren't there or are injured. Liverpool can't go out and spend the money we think they can, if been clear the entire time Klopps been at Liverpool that we have to sell to buy. Even buying Nunez meant we had to bring in 50 millions from Mane, minamino and neco transfers. We just need to believe these lads and klopp and turn it around
