@tanman102
3 жыл бұрын
Don't worry about the 20V line being discontinued for a very, very long time. Dewalt has settled on using the 20V battery system as its standard on which everything else is built. The 20Volt max lineup has been around for a decade at this point. Then 5 years ago, they released the Flexvolt batteries that can run in 20v or 60v mode so that they could add 60V and 120V tool lineups. 60V tools use a single Flexvolt battery and 120V tools use a pair of 60V Flexvolt batteries. This mower is great as its designed to take a pair of any 20V regular or flexvolt batteries.

Kinda disappointed in Dewalt anymore. No 60v mower then they do the 60v combination power head. No revamp for the 887 impact driver but they release a new 12v xtreme. At the very least should have been flexvolt batteries with the kit because most of their best outdoor stuff is 60v but they want you to buy it again if and when they decide to release a 60v so they give you the 10ah 20v. Still no ratchet either go figure honestly at this point I won’t buy anything cause they will just change it next year.
@Turbo.M777

Seems weird to add another bigger 20v only battery to their line when Dewalt has Flexvolt. Why not just include a pair of 9ah or 12ah flexvolts? I’m hoping I can get the bare tool version, as I’m almost exclusively using flexvolts for all my big batteries. I’d rather know all my batteries will continue to work for anything and everything including my 60v chainsaw, 20v lights, 60v trimmer, and the mower, etc. I don’t want to bring around 2 new batteries that won’t work with half my other outdoor tools. That’s the beauty of Flexvolt. Why would they not utilize it? Doesn’t Dewalt want it to catch on? Seems like a great mower in any case. I’ll probably get one regardless. I may just sell the batteries if they don’t offer a bare tool version.
@Nyall
3 жыл бұрын
I think they invented this battery so they could have a cheaper high amp-hour battery. Based on the MSRP of two 9ah flexvolts, this kit is coming with $230 (or so) worth of lithium. I know that is a jacked up MSRP price, but proportionally this $400 kit has a considerable amount of money in the batteries vs the mower (and vs the chargers.) I've used 6ah and 9ah flexvolts in the previous dewalt mower and the 3p cell configuration makes a massive difference vs a pair of 5ah. If this new 10ah battery isn't a 3p configuration then I will certainly sell the batteries that come with the mower and use a pair of 9s.

I have the 1st generation dewalt lawnmower with 2 9amp flexvolt batteries and I barely get 15-20 minutes of cutting low grass. These 10 amp are advertised for 75 minutes on non self-propelled. I need to see a battery comparison
@zack6892
3 жыл бұрын
Because they will release a 60v version for everyone with the rest of their 60v outdoor equipment so you buy it twice. Just like they released the pole saw last season in 20v and now released the combination tool with a pole saw in the 60v platform. Same reason they released 12v extreme impact wrench last year with crappy 2ah batteries then released an upgraded version supposedly rated at twice the torque with upgraded 5ah batteries with rubber boots this year. I used to love Dewalt but I’m done with it they are just cash grabbing anymore you wait and wait for them to release something every platform had and they release the cheap one first and wait a year then try to get you to buy the one you wanted to begin with all over again. Fuck Dewalt... oh almost forgot they did it with the blower too released cheap gen 1 that ate belts which isn’t a serviceable part then released the gen 2 without so much as a recall on their junk gen 1. I already started switching to Milwaukee at least when they release a non fuel tool is still pretty decent your not stuck with something sub par compared to the upgraded line.

I replaced a 10 year old B&D mower with this mower, and don't like the new DeWalt at all. The only reason I am keeping it is the compatibility with the truckload of batteries I already own. The DeWalt deck is not one piece, but a fastened together mix of metal and plastic. This makes it feel flimsy when compared to the single cast plastic frame of the old B&D. The front wheel drive has almost no traction compared to the B&D, and you cannot rest your hands on the handle, or it will slip and spin the front wheels and not move. The single advantage to the front drive, is that you can keep it engaged when you lift and turn the mower. This value is negated, when you realize the self-propel system, does not work unless the blade is running...and if you are just moving the mower, it does not freewheel the front drive for an easy push, there is drag from the drive mechanism. The bagging system is terrible, the control cables are in the way, and you have to move them to get the bag on and off. I finally zip-tied them out of the way, something DeWalt should have fixed them selves. Its like they didn't even product test this mower. I should have just made a battery adapter for the B&D, to run my DeWalt batteries. Terrible.

Got one today from HD. PAID $500-50 FOR HD credit card sign up. Seems not sold online and only in store. Seems the newer mowers use 2 9ah flex- volt batteries. The non self propelled mower has 15 minutes more run time otherwise the same mower for $100 less

Dewalt is my favorite tool company but the best cordless mower is a gas mower. I doubt you'll see these running in 20 years but my mower is at least that old and my snow blower is going on 35 years old still runs like a champ ( I am not the original owner of either)

Great video! Can these dewalt batteries be used interchangeably between the power tools and outdoor tools? So many dewalt models I don’t even know which one is current anymore. Any videos on these for beginners like myself ?

I used 3 cable ties to keep the power cord out of the way for the catch bag. Also, added a tether cord to the safety key. Don’t want to loose it
