So, what do you think? Is IBIS good enough to stop using your gimbal? Let me know!
@bobanmk

not actually. because IBIS is not enough to make a seen smooth. but I think sony will give us super smooth stabilization in upcoming years.
@AlexPerri

@@bobanmk Yea I think it really depends what you're trying to achieve with your shot. If just doing some simple, small movements for b-roll shots of products and what not, it's definitely good enough, but not necessarily with bigger shots and movements.

I’m totally convinced! I’m also wondering if you have compared the stabilization of the Sony system with the iPhone Pro with filmic pro. is it time to ditch the Sony too? (especially for extremely long hour-plus handheld shots where exhaustion might become a factor)

I attach my camera to my monopod, keep it as short as possible. Hold as close to the camera as possible. It is heavy and long enough to dampen the swing in all directions and I am more steady than straight hand holding.

My opinion is: -when you shoot a person => don't use a gimbal, more organic feeling -when you shoot objects => use gimbal

@@AlexPerri I do have one question. Would you ever use catalyst browse with hand held footage? Or would that not workout well?
@AlexPerri
Жыл бұрын
@@BeyondtheMovingPictureStudios Catalyst Browse looks amazing for stabilizing footage, but I believe it works best with Sony lenses. I definitely would give it a shot but I shoot exclusively on non Sony branded lenses so I don't think I'd have much success with it. But I really have found the FX3's standard stabilization setting (and choosing the right focal length of my lens) and adding a bit of warp stabilizer in Premiere to be highly effectice.

Alex , what would be a good gear for the FX3/0 if I wanted some smooth tracking shots ( walk and talk) excluding a gimbal?
@AlexPerri
Жыл бұрын
Hmm, that’s a tough one. But I’d say a nice wide lens would be great with the in-body image stabilization turned on. And I’m the walk and talk is to film someone else and not yourself vlog style, then I’d say rig up your camera a bit to add a bit of weight and size to it to minimize any micro shakes and jitters.

The reason why Sony does not fix their erratic Ibis and Active Stabilization on cameras such as a7IV , A7SIII etc... lies in the introduction of this video. It could be fixable by their engineers puttting some work in poor algorythm design, but Sony has one of the worst 5 axis stabilization, Just be real! I have been on Sony for a few years and they are a joke compared to even old lumix, Gx 85 or GH5, and I am not even talking about the one on the GH6 or the S5IIX. When "KZitemrs" will have more objectivity these major corporations will listen....

It's not because that. E-MOUNT first was to planned to APSC, and Sony wants to same mount across all cameras (which is good thing) but downside is that full frame sensor on that mount doesn't have to much room to move like in Lumix camera. Its free from woobles on wider lenses 24mm and below, but also introduce shakes which IMO is unbearable.

What lens do you use the most to pair with your fx3
@AlexPerri
Жыл бұрын
I'd say my go-to lens is the SLR Magic MicroPrime CINE 35mm T/1.3, but from time to time I swap with the 50mm T/1.2 and 21mm T/1.6.

@@AlexPerri would you recommend the 16-35 2.8 or 24-70 2.8 or primes for documentary/Vlog content
@AlexPerri
Жыл бұрын
@@MODESTYXO205 Hmm, that's a tough one. The 24-70 has a great range from a bit wider to tighter, so can cover a lot of ground. But it all depends on the way you like to shoot and what type of vlogs/docs you're shooting. I always use primes, but that's just personal choice. Would a different lens be more versatile? Sure, and it would be much easier to get something wide and jump to a tight close up from afar when not using a prime. But I just personally love the overall quality of the SLR Magic MicroPrime CINE lineup, and will deal with lens swaps no problem.
