Cracking examples of the Cats. I bought my Snowcat complete but with a crack on the missle cover hinge, but some superglue secured it enough to sit in place. I often but incomplete if the part thats often hidden or minor... my Moray is missing the wondscreens, some stickers and one 50 cal is broken. But over time I will try and source the the windscreens. They rest I can live without as Im not really worried about completeness. Its the spirit of the toy thats important.

Well Done, Luke! In my opinion, this is one of your very best videos! You raise a great question that collectors often ponder, and you provided an informative and entertaining answer. The snowcats both turned out beautifully. Such an awesome vehicle. I remember getting one as a child. Funny story, my dad was supposed to take me to see Weird Al in concert. Something came up and we couldn’t go. To make it up to me he took me to the toy store and bought me the snowcat. It doesn’t snow in Florida, but that didn’t stop my imagination from running wild as I played with that vehicle for hours on end. BTW, your editing in this video was spot on. I enjoyed watching you clean and assemble the snowcats. It’s so cool to watch the project come together. Shameless plug: Did you see my video where I built my Star Wars Puggil Pumpkin? It’s one I am most proud of. I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed your snowcat video. 🤓👍👍

Hi Luke, good morning, a great conversation, I agree sometimes buying incomplete can work, I got my Ewok village for £20 around 20 years ago, the condition was very good but it was missing a few bits, I’ve since been able to complete the fencing, I need the chair and toggle clip, but looking at prices I would complete it for less than buying a complete one, although mine doesn’t have any original string but all the parts are original, I’m waiting for a cheap star destroyer playset as I have all the parts for it, I also have all the parts for an at at too, no at at 😂sadly I just think condition is important though, the toy needs to be unbroken and good colour and unfaded decals but I don’t mind projects as I find it quite fun Great job Luke 👍🏻

Hey man. Yeah occasionally it does make sense to do things like this, of course buying complete is often the better option assuming you can afford to, but my budget often dictates how I do things, on this occasion it worked out great. But sounds like you’ve done well with the ewok village and I’m sure you’ll get an AT AT body no problem. Cheers for watching 👍

Piecing vehicles together has never been cheaper in my experience. I just bite the bullet & look for the most complete. It's too much hit & miss, driving to all the local toy shows, conventions, yard sales, flee markets or estate sales just to find parts. Online will always cost shipping. It can be done, but the odds are against me. I'd rather just get the complete or most complete version & move on to the next item.

@@ReynoldsReviews No probs Luke👍 and your right about the budgeting issue, I bought a lovely vintage MOTU view-master gift box about a year ago for a tenner…. So I’m keeping my eye out for some cheap reals and insert to make a complete set. I’ll bet I can pull it altogether for £30…. Yet to buy complete, people are asking £100+ Patience is a big thing too, and is very much part of the fun. I had Grayskull and Snake Mountain for years before I found boxes and parts and even then the boxes were very tatty. Thanks to Dave’s tutorials on Toy Polloi, they look really nice now and both complete boxed cost me less than £100 each. Normally I would agree, but on this occasion as you can see, buying incomplete was far cheaper. However, usually buying complete is a cheaper option, assuming you can afford too of course. Yeah nice video Luke, I often buy beaters and put a bit of work into building them up (currently working on completing my SAS Panther) but it does depend on the vehicle. When I was looking at getting a M.A.S.K Manta it was cheaper to buy one complete with complete figure (prices for Vanessa’s mask and that ejector seat are silly). The website you showed from the Netherlands, Boonsart, is a great resource for loose parts, I use it regularly, but then I live in the Netherlands so postage is a little bit cheaper for me 😂

Rebuilding toys like this depends on the parts lots you can get and if you can sell or trade the extra stuff. My example star wars Millennium Falcon... I brought one complete with a ROTJ box couple years ago for $150 local (found on ebay). If I went to build one the jedi training ball alone cost $60+. Different story if I could get those rare parts in a lot. I've got a Deathstar with same trouble, missing the swing rope and stickers. Cost as much to complete as buying complete. Time is the other factor, as you mentioned.
