Pretty neat, and you get a really nice watch out of this assuming you assembled it correctly. This could be a gateway into watchmaking. Hmmmmmm...

It was definitely a fun project. The seconds hand is just a tough nut to crack

I have to agree, I recently built their sapphire dial diver with NH70 skeleton movement , sapphire crystal and black ceramic bezel insert. It took some time but the result drastically exceeded my expectations. The watch just doesn't look like someone did it on their kitchen table. I'd love to see them put out a chronograph option.

This is really cool. I’ve been researching this company for a day or so now, I really would love to try my hand at watchmaking, I’d really like to disassemble and reassemble a movement, but this seems like a great value for a great introduction to it. I will say, the Expedition model you have here looks like a clone of the Seiko 5 SRPE haha. Which I love.

That's a great idea. Gives you the confidence to upgrade movements or source your own parts and make something entirely personal.

💯 "Down in the basement right now..." has become a welcome phrase to me. Great vid as always. HQ production value & fascinating content. I like your vids bc you do NOT put off any pretentious vibes like some watch channel creators do. Very authentic & relatable. Thanks for/keep up the great work 👍 Edit: that watch is totally boss fully assembled. Wear it well man

Was that price you quoted 'Components Only' or with the full tool kit in the upgraded box? It looks very nice and most of the tools are quality too.

I was just about to buy one of these until I noticed the movement was already built. An 8 year old could put this thing together. They need to sell a real kit that lets you actually build a watch

@@the1010watchclub How would the quality of a DIY Watch Club watch compare to something like San Martin?
@the1010watchclub
Жыл бұрын
I’ve never owned a San Martin but if the hands and dial weren’t scratched (both my fault), I would say that the DIY watch quality is absolutely the quality of a $300 or $400 watch.

I just fixed a old brass swing arm clock that had been broken a long time. I got it given to me from my moms estate. I have always admired clock works. I fixed the old clock and it works great. I can definitely see getting into this.

i would highly recommend it, built mine last year and loved it. The strap and dial are a bit so so on quality, but if you buy one with a NH35 movement you can just buy a seiko OEM or aftermarket dial (KOMO or w/e) and customize your look somewhat

Thank you! I don’t… Just that it’s the most symmetrical way to show the dial without blocking stuff like logos and date/time

Keeping dust out of the case is crucial to you posing as a luxury brand but very hard and expensive to maintain so you let the consumer not only Do it Themselves but also pay extra for whats is a generic mechanical watch you can put together for cheaper yourself

Put the movement in the case. As hard as it was to correctly place the second hand, I can only imagine how impossible building a movement would be in an amateur setting

A good addition to this kit would be a pair of Dumont #5 tweezers. Balance screws and second hands are much easier to handle.
