I have FSD V12.5.1.1 It always backs in when it parks so it has the best possible vision when leaving the space. Many of the things you didn't like about the version you had have already been fixed. I regularly make the drive from my home to a friend's house 12 miles away without doing anything other than parking at each end. I could take a nap, but right now attention is required by the software, but mostly not needed. I enjoy sight-seeing within the limits of the attention verifier except near intersections and highway exits. St Louis MO area.

Is FSD not available from Tesla by the month via subscription? If it is then I would consider RENTING it during a month where I was doing enough long distance driving to make it feel affordable. If the subscription contract is for more than a month then I’d stick with Standard or Enhanced Autopilot.

@@ViaBuenCorazon yes it’s available, and quite useful to pay $99 for a month when traveling, it eliminates a lot of stress..

I have a 2024 MY. HW 4. On the freeway, with autopilot, signaling will get the car to change lanes without help. The AP lane change seems more abrupt than the lane change with FSD. But either way, goal accomplished.

I'm old school. I loved having FSD Trial for a month. It's hard for me to trust it. Seemed to drive below the speed limit at times and was slow to turn. Pressure when aggressive drivers were behind me. Loved it on the interstate, but it kept moving to the passing lane wo going back to the right lane. Cars would drive on my bumper well over the speed limit. Parking was excellent. I considered getting it just for Park Assist. Summon wasn't available. Never got to try that.

Add me to the Tesla owners with little to no interest in FSD. A human driver will catch things that a computer never will... like in early morning I can spot a deer near the edge of the woods, a computer would miss it. Likewise with speed bumps, potholes, roadkill and other obstacles that may be too 'small' to be detected by a camera-based system. Plus, I'll have an extra $1200/year in my pocket.

FSD will stay in the left lane until someone comes up quick behind you. Then it will move out of the lane. This is an issue in many places where you can only pass in left lane. However if you go to auto steer it will work the same in highway and you can toggle a setting to exit passing lane.

I am one of the few that will not be getting FSD. I am old and too controlling to get it. Besides it is way too expensive.

At 100 per month? The older you get the more you miss while driving. I know, I’m 66. FSD catches those misses.

A pilot doesn't take a nap when the autopilot is engaged, well some did. I am of the belief that driver assistance features on the interstates and 4 lane highways are of benefit. However, you still need to be paying attention to ensure if there is an accident with emergency vehicles in the roadway, or road construction crews there you can take the appropriate action. I'm against full self-driving in neighborhoods and in cities. I'm ok that my mach-e nags me if I take my eyes off the road too long, well maybe a little annoyed when I am taking a drink from my nalgene and it does that, but I think it is necessary to ensure I'm fully engaged. After all its my operator license to operate the motor vehicle not Tesla, Ford, Chevrolet, etc. I paid this year for Blue Cruise through Ford because I was able to get it "discounted" because of Ford pass points. Next year I probably will not, because it is extremely expensive. My 2 cents. Good thoughts in the video.

It really sounds like the basic Autopilot will work for a large percentage of people. I am hoping Autopilot will work for my local 2 lane highways here in the Ozarks. That is where most of my driving is done today in the rural country and some 4 lane highways. If Autopilot will work for that I will be set. Would love to see you do some testing of your Autopilot for your local commute and drives. I am really looking forward to trying this. My biggest application will be the road trips.

Unless they changed FSD since I had it (April+May), neither FSD nor Autopilot recognize the speed recommendation signs for upcoming turns. FSD worked worst at longish stretches where it can do the speed limit (plus whatever over!) but then when it sees a sharp turn (when it gets close!) it brakes really really hard very late to make it. You have to manually spin down the right scroll wheel early on both. FSD will do okay in what I call "shepherding" where a car in front of you slows down ahead of time for the turn. Interestingly, FSD did great going up/down my windy hill, most likely since it doesn't get up to speed and sees the next sharp turn is near after finishing the previous one. So it depends on the exact situation.
