Yes, to all of this, especially the part about not having our faith properly explained. I left the Catholic Church years ago because it felt like mindless rules and rituals. I started attending a non- denominational church where my thirst for Biblical knowledge was quenched and my soul uplifted with inspiring worship music. But soon, I felt empty, like something was missing and it was the Eucharist. But why was I missing a mere symbol of the Body and Blood of Christ? Because it wasn't just a symbol, it was truly Him, truly His presence in the breaking of the bread. Once I understood that, I was compelled to dive deeper and learn about all the other Sacraments, which just exploded into understanding the Rosary, the Divine Mercy, and so many other devotionals. The lives of the Saints called out to me, I wanted to know everything about the faith and thankfully this pandemic has given me a chance to make up for lost time. This lost sheep is lost no more, but I know there are so many others like me who left the church for the same reasons. We need to get them back. And I'm starting right within my own family. How blessed we are to be Catholics, how blessed to have the Sacrifice of the Mass everyday, how blessed to have Mother Mary protecting and guiding us, how blessed to have the Angels and Saints cheering us on towards Holiness and Sainthood. Our King has provided His servants treasures to numerous to count, and the gem that crowns them all is the Catholic faith! Amen 🥰🙏❤️ P.S. I owe an incalculable debt of gratitude to the spirit-led instructors of our faith like Bishop Barron, Fr. Mike Schmitz, Fr Chris Alar, Dr. Brant Petrie, and so many more modern day Prophets for a time such as this. May God bless and protect our religious leaders.

Jesus Christ is such an unusual King - He does not seek wealth especially not from His followers as mortal kings do; they have power and they use it to increase their wealth and to overcome those who oppose them. As a Man Jesus had no wealth. as humans measure it. He had no power but instead He was servant to his followers, washing their feet at the Last Supper for example and he never bullied or coerced anyone, He didn't condemn the woman caught in adultery, He didn't call back the followers who left him in John 6:66 "After this many of his disciples turned back and no longer walked with him." He did not force them to stay as his followers.

Very challenging introspective sermon. Cannot help but think about those times in my past when decisions I have made would not reflect Christ as Lord of my life. As we are all human we do not achieve perfection, but in our quest for perfection (being Christ like) we can get closer to that with the thought of is Christ Lord of our life? The great thing is everyday we wake up is a chance to get it right going forward. Thank you for such a thought provoking sermon.

An amazing, simple yet deep and transformational homily on the importance of making Christ the King of our lives. Christ is a King that brings true joy and lasting freedom through his grace if we make him our King. He is a King like no other, he leads by example he teaches in the gospels and finally died a most horrible death on a roman cross, crowned mockingly with a crown of thorns. Yet despite what we humans did to him, He loves us and welcomes us to a friendship with him to help save the world. Make Christ the King of all your life and begin a new journey of meaning and transformation to help redeem the world, in our short time. Christs kingdom is not in this world, and thankfully with all the endless problems, lawlessness and death we see around us, there is a true kingdom waiting for us that is based on truth and love. God bless you all!

Dear Bishop, I hope that some day you will devote an entire video regarding your belief that hell exists or that more than a few go there. So often other priests or theologians use that one discussion against you, over and over again - like a broken record. I don't believe it is true, based on the almost 2 years of following you - but I have also never heard a discussion from you that proves they are making a false accusation about your beliefs. Some site some statement in a book you wrote as proof - others say you are a product of the VII generation of the 60s, used to attract people to our Church: everyone goes to heaven mantra. I'm not saying you should do a rebuttal type of video - but rather one where you just explain the existence of hell and that it is not essentially empty - backing it up with sources, as you normally do.

A question for the leaders of the RCC: is Christ King of your life? Where were they during the pandemic when we were denied Communion and denied Confession? How often are the leaders afraid of the "prevailing opinion" and afraid to offend? How has the Truth been subjugated to the futile attempt at attracting the disaffected with a watered down presentation of Christ? You yourself started "Word on Fire" to help catechize the children of the 70s & 80s who were so poorly formed due to VII... yet the Bishops are now laying it at the feet of the Laity to correct the grave evils abounding today? abortion, homosexuality, exploitation and of course denying the True Presence? the prayer of the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass? We need Men of Christ to be Leaders and to lead by example. Fear and arrogance hold no part in proper evangelization. Coddling the faithful is no way to get at the glorious Truth. As you have said, Christ's turning the other cheek was an act of defiance. Is Jesus King of the lives of our Bishops?

I agree with Making Jesus king of my life, however, considering Robert Barron’s other videos, I wonder what does it matter? Robert and many Catholic church leaders have said that you can be saved if you just follow your conscience. Robert even commented on someone’s post that even atheists can be saved. With that said, Christians have the short end of the stick, having to follow rules that others seemingly don’t have to. I’m not trying to anger anyone. I would simply like to clear up this apparent contradiction.

We need more shepherds like Bishop Barrens. Too many are luke warm in faith and it is so true that we have dumbed down our faith. I was brought up to offer things up for others especially the holy souls in purgatory. What I have found as I have aged is undoing so I’ve not only been comforted by angels, saints, the holy family and trinity but the holy souls have helped me through some serious times and brought me to joyful moments. I don’t think we even understand the word sacrifice or intercessory prayer at this time. We need help and grateful I found word on fire. Continued prayers for all bishops, priests and faithful.

If our God never like democratic society ,An individual could do bad thing(s) and automatically God could eliminate him/her(such human being) but our God Keeps forgiving till the time we(you) repent and you came back to him (if you want). Bishop Barron- when you speak of God wanting big families etc., what about couples who can’t manage large families? I am an adult “child“ of parents who could not handle a large family and consequently most of us have suffered tremendously throughout our entire lives. Also, on the other end of that, in my career I have worked with hundreds, may be thousands, or families who have had far more children than they could handle and they were destitute. I was fortunate to have moved into a position in which I could offer some help but it seems like it was no more than a Band-Aid for a much bigger problem. It’s great to come across a large families who have lots of money, extended family support, emotional stability, etc. and can manage all of this but most of the time, in my experience, that is not the case. So often it results in suffering -mostly children suffering and the suffering often does not stop when children reach adulthood. That is a long message! After close to 30 years of my career which had all of this in my face along with my own life, it is a topic of which I am passionate about. I would love to hear you speak more about it. Thank you.

Yes, large families cost money to raise. There is no question. But, it can be done and it is done all over the world. One key principle to keep in mind for raising larger families is the distinction between needs and wants. I grew up in a large family and I have known plenty of large families. Neither my own family nor the other large families that I've known over the years were wealthy. Most of them were single-income families. In all cases, success on a natural level happened with a focus on needs over wants. This often means: rarely going to restaurants in favor of eating at home, going to a less prestigious school at a lower cost, teenagers working and helping out to some degree financially in the household, growing a garden, learning DIY blue-collar skills, etc. On a supernatural level, success is always tied to living out the faith. Giving God first fruits in our life actually aids us in living out our natural life in a more fruitful manner. We are ordered to our supernatural end, which is union with God. This, in turn, orders our natural life to the best possible outcome for that end. For those with large families, that means spouses willing the good of each other and, in turn, willing the good for their children.

And some of us were only physically able to have one child due to health concerns, but we can still be spiritual parents to those children in our lives. Like nieces, nephews, or even big kids like our family and friends who do not follow Christ. We can evangelize to everyone and anyone in our lives, that's the beauty of our faith.
@mdv5845
2 жыл бұрын
Theresa, this 'false prophet' wants you to believe that God wants you to have large families. The reason this f.p. wants you to believe it is so is because the catholic church will reap the rewards by forcing you to tithe in larger amounts for your sins to be washed clean. But, the catholic church cannot wash your sins, nobody nor even Jesus can wash your sins. Only you can ask God directly to help you and forgive you. When you ask God to forgive you, be specific, then . . . never sinning that way ever again shows God you are worthy to be forgiven. If you sin the same way again then God will not take you seriously. Example: I asked God to help me with chronic back pain. He completely washed away all the pain after showing me how to help myself. It took 3 years but the important thing is . . . the pain is completely gone. Read Matthew and enlighten yourself. And, remember the story of Martin Luther (the German blacksmith), a true story, for he revealed just how EVIL the catholic church is. and . . . still is because they refuse to obey God.

You can't be a hypocrite for following Christ. Because following Him isn't about following a set of rules. It's about building a relationship with Christ. If you want to tell others about all this stuff, I've come to understand that it's actually better to remain silent and just build that relationship with Christ. I *guarantee* that you *will* see changes in your life after a while - could be weeks or years. But it will happen. Then people will see that, and will be drawn to you. Finally, they'll ask: "What happened to you?" Then speak.

Seared my soul! And now that part of my spirit convicted by a message of utter truth, delivered with such true love is newly awakened, and ready to grow again-with new information, a new focus on an old truth. The part about are you as fit as you can be? As a nearly 60 year old grandma I have certainly neglected my physical health. Thanks be to God I heard this message which gives me further motivation-a true blessing-to be more thoughtful about my food choices and physical activity level. And so much more. Hard truths once realized can be life changing!! Keep telling the truth, Bishop Barron, you have what it takes-a true charism- to change hearts not by “speaking truth to power” but by speaking powerfully about the Truth! (We need one like Bishop Sheen to continue to enliven sleeping consciences to a greater reality) This message which then in turn is spread by believers and people who hear it have greater ability to change other hearts toward a life filled with and motivated by Christ the King.❤️

Jesus is LORD of all or not at all / In the Greek Septuagint Bible (BC), Jews translated Hebrew YAHWEH (God) as KYRIOS, i.e. LORD (Jesus recognized as the LORD in Torah/Psalms/Prophets by the New Testament, all the Church Fathers and the Liturgy / "If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is LORD and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved." - Rom 10:9 / KYRIE ELEISON in every Mass)

I think we have a lot of ‘tyrants’ (emperors) as Fr. Mike Schmitz puts it which we let take front seats instead of having it for our King!!Thx Bishop.

Obedience implies Trust! We are not 'enslaved' by Christ when we make Him King of our Lives. We are acknowledging that He has our best interests at heart. That He loves us as children, brothers, sisters, family. We are obedient to His Lordship because we trust Him to take care of us, to not allow things into our lives that we cannot handle with Him, and for Him to be listening when we tell Him we don't understand.

We must aspire to be more like Jesus, praying, and fasting are very important but so is taking action. Jesus took action he performed so many miracles. He fed 5000 in John 6:5-14. Also known as the "miracle of the five loaves and two fish" Changing water into wine at Cana in John 2:1-11. These are just a few times Jesus took action. I took action I refused the vaccine because of my pre existing health condition (Lupus) and I was fired from my job of 13 years. I’m a single mother struggling to provide food, and shelter for my two children both of my sons are autistic, so my days may be more challenging than most mothers. We are not celebrating thanksgiving this year because honestly we can’t afford it. Even though i’m going through all these trials and tribulations I still have faith that God will provide! He will make away for me and my children! Amen!

Jeremiah said, there’s a fire shut up in my bones. There is potential, talent, increase that you haven’t tapped into yet. Start believing you’re a mighty hero. Get rid of those limiting thoughts. You and God are a majority. He’s calling you. Step out and get ready to see new levels, new friendships, new opportunities, new talents, new victories.

Horsing around, love it. To those Catholic friends of mine give the excuse.”I not being fed” then 1) they are not receiving the Eucharist , get state of Grace and receive Him. 2) if your pastor is a weak homolist then listen to Bishop Barron weekly homilies. Thank you Bishop. I have couple of rooms need tidy up😊

I enjoyed listening very much. You may too. What does it mean to make Christ... king of your life? I wondered and BBarron provides specifics which I appreciated him moving from the abstract to the concrete. If you must go directly to the concrete, go halfway through talk. It is nice to feel I am on the right track in my life, with each area of our life, he provides examples. And... I wish to make our Lord more so; my King who sits besides me day in and day out.

I picture, a very technical book in the library. Which I would like to read, but know I would not understand it. Father Barron (to me) reads that book for me, and explained it. Thank you Father for letting me understand more things 🙏

God is so much greater than our limited language allows us to describe, and that is why we use the term “King”. King is the highest term we can find to try and describe our relationship with the immortal all powerful God who created all things. Thank you Bishop Barron for the clear metaphorical examples you gave us to help us see how God should be pervasive in all parts of our lives. Your homilies always educate and inspire me. In response to your comment about young people not getting their questions answered, I ask whether the problem starts with how we fail to educate and prepare so many seminarians to be ready to proactively address those questions?

Thankyou, Bishop Robert, for your customary wisdom. Let us not forget the final words of Blessed Miguel Augustin Pro, the Catholic priest who was martyred during La Cristiada, the anti-clerical persecution that occurred in Mexico in the 1920s: "Viva, Cristo Rey!" i.e. "Long Live, Christ the King!" This coincided with Pope Pius XI inaugurating the feast day at a time of so much political turbulence and polarity in inter-war Europe, very much like our contemporary world, especially America. May Christ the King be enthroned on all our hearts.

The King of our lives sees us in our distress. He hears us when we call upon Him for help. I pray to cease not in prayer, for He is truly at hand helping us along the journey, which can be full of stumbling blocks. We may be hard on ourselves due to our shortcomings, but Christ came to lift us out of despair, which is sin. Thank you Bishop Barron for your insight and understanding of having a deep relationship with Christ that is nurtured through the sacraments.

Those familiar with Ignatian spirituality, and Bishop Barron has mentioned this specific example before; there is a meditation in which you imagine two armies. One army is under the command of the Enemy and the other army is under the standard of Christ the King. The point of the meditation is to think about the exact question posed here. Which commander do I serve?
