John himself said he's not the GOAT without surpassing Coan's longevity, and that seems fair. As such, Austin has not clinched the title.

Well said. A single performance is not enough to make anyone the "GOAT" (hate this phrase). Coan was acknowledged as the best lifter in his class in 3 decades: 80s, 90s, and early 00s. Haack would have to still be on top in 2030 to equal this.

Its pretty dumb the way people judge greatness in powerlifting, John has been dominating for years since Gibbs and has been untouchable for so long and someone pops up like perkins or jesus and all of a sudden people are like this guy is the goat. Thats like looking at Novak dominance and then seeing Sinner play this past tournament beating Alcaraz and Medvedev and saying... "hmm I think this guy might be the GOAT"
@mittarimato8994

It's because the words, usually, get diluted. People used to say 'X is the best', but when this GOAT term became more popular, it replaced the word 'BEST', even though they don't even mean the same thing. So, saying someone is the GOAT, doesn't mean he is the greatest of all time anymore, but rather, the current best. The word got diluted.

On top of that he won IPF Worlds, he is dominating untested powerlifting for years, holds 2 total ATWR’s in 2 different weight classes... yeah, he is the GOAT. Perk has crazy potential, but he is not even close to being considered GOAT just yet. U could make an argument for Ed Coan, Yuri Belkin, Andrei Malanichev and Jaroslaw Olech though.
