Teeswork steelworks in Redcar had, in the days of British steel employed 19,500 people. In 2015, it was closed. By 2022, it had been demolished.
Since the advent of the levelling up as a Tory policy, the site has been championed by Conservative ministers and Mayor Ben Houchen as it was made into a freeport.
But the project has been mired by scandal since getting off the ground.
We went to Redcar to find out whether levelling up has ever been a project to help the people worst affected by deindustrialisation.
