Cinema prices usually depends what day you go on. Monday and Tues are usually cheaper and there are ways of getting 2 tickets for price of 1, such as buying insurance through the meerkat comparison site. You forget about electricity under bills. I pay around £60 a month for gas and electric combined. You can also get a discount on council tax if you are a sole occupant.

If you look you like going to the cinema look at a limitless card at the odeon or a unlimited card at cineworld. In central London its around £20 a month and you can go to as many films as you want with out having to pay anything extra, unless you want to watch in 3D or imax. Outside of London it is £17.99 a month for limitless.

Sorry don't mean to offend but this video seems way off. Council tax on average is more around the £120 a month mark...my friend who lives outside of London in a 2 bed flat pays like £230 a month on council tax. Beer is definitely more around a fiver easily unless you like to drink piss water. Food would easily be more like £40 upwards a week. If you're only spending £20 a week on food then you must only be buying bread and milk. I think the easy answer to this video is to live in London you need to be earning roughly 35k a year for it to be doable, but really you need more like 45k to have a chance.

People say London is expensive but for me in comparison to living anywhere in the South of England it's not. The only things that can be seen as expensive are rent, travel and possibly restaurants depending on where you go. Personally, most people I know that lived outside of London and live below the midlands/south of England, pay about £650 pm for a room plus bills. They drive a car, which they had to buy, insure, pay for petrol and pay parking costs. Restaurants are the same price pretty much. I actually calculated it was cheaper for me to live in London than anywhere else in the south of England. To put this into perspective , I'll give you a breakdown: Rents for living in zone 3 over a 5 year period (2015-2019) all in modern well-maintained shared houses and including bills and cleaning products - £325 pcm , £350 pcm, £500 pcm. Travel card zone 1-3 about £135 pcm (probably gone up now) Food, phone bill, misc expenses and going out/eating out expenses - same as anywhere in the South of England unless you decided to go to really posh places or you drink a lot of alcohol. For example, a pint is about £5 (but in South of England you would expect about £4 anyway), cocktails in central London could be £8-15, a posh meal out with 3 courses could be £35-50. For all my my time in London I bought pretty much all my lunches out and ate out 2-3 times a week for dinner or equivalent in takeaway. I pretty much lived on under £1000 when I calculated it, I was surprised how little I was spending. The BIG thing you need to do is make sure you get the ideal location of your rental property, I got such low rents because I researched areas, decided how long I would be happy for my commute to be, and acted quickly when I saw a room I wanted to rent so I could get the low rents. I also must say that my rooms that were around the £300 mark were tiny one beds, but I lived in a house with 2 lounges, a big kitchen and a garden at that time, and only shared with 3 others.

One thing I was interested in here is that you quote the download speed for internet as 200 MBs/ (Megabytes/s) which seems totally awesome (I think I saw you quote the same number in another video). However I'm also slightly suspicious as download speeds are normally quoted in Mb/s (Megabits/s) which is MB/s times 8. But either way, it kills our internet speed here in Michigan which is about 50 Mb/s and is bundled in with the TV for $180/month thanks to the AT&T/Comcast duopoly :(

Interesting video. However you can live very cheaply in London - share a room and pay £300 all in with bills - though this might not be in a fantastic area. Or rent a flat and pay minimally £800 plus a third on bills or upwards of thousands a month. This is all depending on your budget and where in London you live - you have the good, the bad and ugly areas in London.

Compare to Russia. Location - close to Moscow (10 mins walk), tube is 15 mins walk or 5 mins buss. Go to center of Moscow in 30 mins if you need it, but who needs it every day? Flat 107 sq meeters, 2 big bedrooms, big reception room, great kitchen (16 sq m), air cond, all facilities, lifts etc. Infrastructure - you can find anything you can think of in your erea, the rest can be delivered fast. Huge shopping mall 10 mins walk. Here come the costs per month (I'll put $ sign, but all in poundsper month. Dont have proper sign here): rent - less than 500$ mortgage ~700$ per month for 20 years, interest 7-12% depends. if you own it - 100$ bills including watter electricity 20$ council tax 50$ PER YEAR! no gass allowed - electricity only central heating included into the bill and it doesn't depend on how much you use it. It's hot at home in winter Envy? Come over :) website www.cian.ru/ - similar to zoopla in UK if you're interested. I know it's in russian, but Chrome can help just an example from the area I mentioned www.cian.ru/map/?currency=2&deal_type=rent&engine_version=2&foot_min=45&maxprice=50000&metro%5B0%5D=233&metro%5B1%5D=244&offer_type=flat&only_foot=2&room3=1&type=4&zoom=16¢er=55.817399766058514,37.36752234760261&pin_opened=true And here is what you can get for 1.8\2k UK pounds per month www.cian.ru/rent/flat/246097603/ www.cian.ru/rent/suburban/245825424/

I live in the West Midlands and you can rent a 3 bed terrace house here for £700/month (So about £230 each if you share). I own a 2 bed terrace which is worth about £130-140k. A simiilar house in London would be 3-5 times as much at least, depending on the area. Salaries are higher in London but nothing like enough to make up the difference. To stand a chance of buying a house in London you need to be in a couple and both have well paid jobs. I have a friend who lives in nearby Rugby right next to the train station. It takes him 50 mins on the train to Euston then a short tube ride to his work, less time than many of his colleagues who actually live in London. He's got a 3 bed semi and they're still renting a room in a shared house that costs far more than his mortgage payments. Housing in London is incredibly expensive. Part of the problem is succesive UK governments concentrate soley on London and the S.East. That's where all the investment goes and all the jobs are created with the rest of the country neglected. So loads of people have to move to London to get a decent job in their chosen profession which pushes house prices there sky high.
