PQs should return. It was one of the big driving forces of the social aspect of the game that made people interact with each other. When they became irrelevant, Maple Story turned into a single-player experience. Maybe PQs should never be a mandatory thing, but it could give some cool, unique rewards so people have another reason to play and come back. Something like Onyx Apple from Amoria PQ. And yes. Even if they return to their former glory, the social aspect won't be the same. Still, it would be a move in the right direction.

My worry when it comes to them adding PQs that grant exp is that I think they'd just "balance" the exp rates accordingly, so now you need to do even more to get the same miniscule amount of exp.

I picked MS back up a while ago, but I just can’t manage it anymore. I had my main, got him to 200, and then felt blocked by low damage and experience rates. So I made one link skill mule, then another, and then another…eventually I had 8 link skills at level 2, but my damage was still so low compared to others around me. I then started making legion characters and leveling some of my link mules to give me better legion stats. I did my best to get symbols and better gear, but the high meso cost kept interrupting my progress. I participated in events to get enhancement items. I got help with bosses so I could collect the drops. I tried to do my dailies to get Absolab gear, but I realized pretty quickly I needed boss drops to make the stones required to purchase my new weapon. Every time I tried progressing, I was halted by pre-quests for bosses that were VERY unclear. (Seriously, it sucks getting to 210 only to realize you need to go all the way back to the start of Silent Crusade just to access a single boss.) There was never a clear indication of which quest I needed to accept in the long string of pre-quests required to fight a specific boss. Even Maple Guide didn’t help me much, because it only lists the FINAL quest required to fight the boss. Like yeah, to many of you reading, this might seem like obvious information. But in my defense, the game basically railroads you to 200 now before going, “hey, you know all this other stuff you weren’t focused on while you were making a dozen characters? Yeah, you need to do all of that now, and the experience gain will be next to nothing.” I joined a guild, but even with their help it was exhausting. I was never sure what my priority should be after 200, and I stopped playing at 225. They just throw so much stuff at you. In a weird way, I found the game got a lot less fun after 200, because now I was forced to juggle an overwhelming number of overlapping progression systems. And to do that while playing mostly solo? It just wasn’t worth it. I hope Nexon reworks the game in a way that makes it a lot less frustrating eventually, because I’ll always have a place in my heart for MS.

Bro I played Maple in 07’ literally the patch before Pirates arrived, I was in 6th grade. I remember how lively and full the servers were. Curryishot amassed hundreds of players to one room just by logging on. Fangblade was (haven’t played in some years) at the top. PQs we’re so full of players that you couldn’t even see your own character. ZHelms were sought after. Level 100+ seemed so impossible, so when you saw someone that was; it was rare as fuck and they were godly. Reworking the rewards to make them viable leveling options for level 1-200 would be the dream -- not just for levels, but by providing useful gear that could help bridge the gap to CRA. Maybe Nexon can implement another coin system where players can buy accessories and rings using coins rewarded from quests. It'd definitely bring life back to early game where you're mostly teleporting map to map in a sprint to the Arcane River. If not gear, then maybe a sort-of "party quest" collection where completing each PQ a specific number of times rewards permanent stats.

In my honest opinion, they should make a PQ for 200+ areas beside the daily thingy and their own shop with *refreshable* items like storm growth pots as example at Moonbridge I think they should give Extra symbols a fixed amount from coins, and to buy more refreshable symbols (for 2x price), droplets, drop coups, growth pots and stuff ofc all limited to a certain point but that you have atleast a shop to also make progress from, refreshed once a month or something like that when you are kinda burning out or want to take it slower... maybe even an enormous growth pot for characters LvL 260-264+ (Cernium PQ), one for 265-269+ (Burnium PQ) only in those shops once per 3 or 6 months for an extreme amount of shop coins. atleast in my opinion that would be nice, so slower people with no time can somehow get a free lvl up there aswell while also able to level lower chars.. or for Symbols *edit: I´d also say it only gives 3% per run a day, but for that you cant run MPE anymore. so either the PQ or Monster Park Extreme

It's not the grinding that bothers me of Maple. but the total lack of socializing. I played wizard101 the other day someone added me and asked to do some low level boss dungeon. And it was kinda neat! But I spent a entire month on Maplestory leveling and the only social interaction I got was someone offering to carry horntail after I'd cleared and then the poofed. The game feels so min max focused. Like You said if it's going to take a year to solo I don't want to dedicate that amount of time. Cause with that amount of time spent I could do a lot of other things. Design a game, learn a instrument w.e I'm getting older. I have to value my time more.

I think the best thing they could do to re-integrate party play in the modern game would honestly just be a combination of instanced maps and lower spawn rate high hp mobs. This would allow more powerful players to burst down mobs in an instant and then sit around chatting for another minute before the next spawn cycle. I think PQs, while they were a fun way to progress, more appeal to younger players that have more free time to just sit around waiting to party up and less to adults who have less free time and generally prefer to just be able to hop into the game, make some quick progress in 15-30mins, and hop off, or in general just hate the idea of wasting any amount of time looking for a party to start training.

I would be almost morally obligated to see how far I could get if I logged into a preserved Windia where I left off in 2007. Diehard assassin fan, I got one snowball slot and like 6 icies and a green bandana, no shame in the game I felt like I made it big when I walked around and threw the icies at random people chatting to flex lol. Maplestory definitely had its own flavor man. More than my skills/level something about that music, artstyle and choice of menu navigation meshed exquisitely. Dude I remember the clothing being more important to me than the store I needed so instead of just getting the elf store (whatever the one was that you didnt need to leave your computer on all day for) I just got the chat one and would franticly run into my dads office at times during the day to make sure the game didnt crash. I also just remember creeping on people popping in and out of the store because I wanted to play maplestory but I was so desperate to keep a spot when I could get it in the heneseys area. Those turds who would be hovering in the good spots looking afk scattered like a bunch of cockroaches to put up a store in literal seconds it was unbelievable. 😂 The rage I felt when you have to pray your mule account would just feel your sense of urgency as you race like 3 other people to a parking spot hope to god you slap the keyboard with random letters with an item for sale thats 1927572846835 mesos while also doing math equations in your head to measure that box would fit exactly in the spot or it would reject your store and you have to redo it. So much precision and stress to get a store spot. It was some vicious competition being in 6th grade and having the attention span to be patient and wait in the free market doing nothing literally just playing the lottery by guessing which spot is gonna open. okay, thank you.

The funny thing is, ad you mentioned, pq were a good source of income and party maps as well. The main reason was because level progression in any other means (mobbing and quests) fell off in the later half od the game. Heck, this is still true for mid-late game questlines as you will barely gain exp from quests from doing the arcane questlines. Party quests were essential because getting from level 120s to 200 back then was a chore if you didnt use 4x coupons from cash shop and you might have a lower chance of getting into a party if your class wasnt useful for the party (party skills or HS). IMO as people no doubt have already said, amp up the party quest exp massively, BUT limit them to 3-5 times a day. Also revamp the rewards from party quests similar to RA/Gollux/Mulung(the boss rush tower) where you are given coins based on the difficulty of the questline and you can get potential cubes, spell teaces(money bags in Reboot), 2x coupons both exp/drop, potential scrolls, and even level up potions for your mules. Basically, make doing party quests more rewarding to do.

But it needs alot of changes to be a stable server thats not dead after a week or two when the first person reached lv 200. For example a open skilltrees would be sick. Imagine a map SOOO big and with so many mobs that no class can solo clear, and instead you need a full party of 6 to get the most out of those maps. The biggest problem I see is with the utility creep the game has had. Two massive examples being the class reworks post-big bang and arcane river with 5th job. All of this adds up to classes that can move around the map at lightning speeds, have the tools to handle basically anything on their own and have skills so large they can clear entire maps within seconds. The reason as to why this is an issue is because it's essentially made it impossible for players to share maps without redesigning every map to be ridiculously large and when it comes to grinding, things like elements or skill synergy mean basically nothing these days. PQs can somewhat alleviate this issue yet it would involve heavily nerfing many abilities to create truly memorable content. I really do hope we could see a way for party play to become more of a focus in Maplestory yet considering how Nexon are entirely ignorant about their playerbase outside of critical issues I doubt we'd see any changes until it's too late.

Keep everything the same cosmetically with a few addition every once in awhile. I wasn’t much of a leveler during my time playing but one thing that made me happy and willing to spend at least 100$ worth of nx were the perm clothes (they introduced for a bit after pirates but before big bang? Idk memory timeline faulty). I also enjoyed when they kept a few hairstyles that you could go out of your way to get depending on which town you went to. Even though I was low level (highest I’ve ever gotten was like lvl 70) I would do my best to get to a high level town just to check out or get a hairstyle you could only get there! I dislike how everything is “at the palm of your hands” and their hair rotations of ugly hairstyles and eyes lol. About the damage limit? Im not against having your own damage reaching 500 mil to 1 billion. But in a party quest there should be a damage limiter and monster/boss with enormous health to make the PQ fun for all in the party. Priotirizng team work aboving everything else. Killing bosses in 40sec(good items) and killing bosses in 20-25sec(above good items) and thats it, it was hard to get good items before but i did it, and ppl started to appreciate it more for any reason and ofc i felt it too. But there is the reason why they cant make an old school modified/modern classic cuz they are afraid retail will drop to 0. But ppl still pay alot of money for it so why not continue with it...

I really think the main thing that could improve Maplestory massively right this second is adding a global chat. With all of these dailies and grinding and bossing people don't have the time to sit in town and chat anymore, and putting focus on PQs or party play areas leaves behind the less populated servers. Depending on level people hang in a different main area, some people just hang in VJ, others Esfera, some still in Henesys, and even then they are just afk waiting for server reset, doing something else. Because you can only ever chat OR progress in Maplestory, unless you have your guild or friends online. A modern MMO NEEDS a Global Chat. They can easily moderate the chat if they just stop thinking about pure profit for half a second. Path of Exile literally has **65,534** global chat channels anyone can join/ create just by typing /global + any combination of numbers and if someone gets reported in global 38412, they are muted 20 seconds later. You just need one or two guys reading reports, it's not that complicated. Besides, Maplestory can lock the global chat feature behind VIP status, you don't even have to make it completely free. You can have a channel for each VIP rank to add more benefit, you can limit the amount of users per channel, you can even add a trade channel so we don't have to rely on Discord Path of Exile isn't even an MMO, but it always feels like there's people around. Maplestory is an MMO and it always feels empty.

Sure, yes and no, but with a VERY heavy lean towards the yes. During my somewhat short stay in Reboot, I struggled a LOT to get into boss parties because "no one wants that small fry dragging 'em back". I even got to live a funny ironic outcome when some were poking fun at me, and I ended up being the only one surviving through the entire fight with an ample amount of lives. Couldn't really solo so it was still a wipe. The party play is not dead, I agree, but there seems to be a rampant mentality that anything done together is not being done right, and that makes it harder to actually befriend others.

They need to bring back PQ's for higher level players AND party play maps that give better exp gains for party members. Make better use of use maps that people don't want to train on by requiring party compositions that can better grind the maps together.

Multiplayer is garbage when its about grinding, imagine getting less exp because you didnt manage to find a HS to increase you exp or a pq party.

Maplestory became SoloStory once the era of PQs ended. Now, it's much more beneficial to solo bosses to get full loot than to party. The only reason why you would ever need to party is if you can't solo it. Even then, people would fight//scam for loots. And that's additional to even finding trust worthy people who can dedicate time and effort to actually form fixed parties which is so hard. Not to mention, unlike GMS with reboot server, in regular servers such as MapleSEA (where I'm based), if you aren't P2W or have friends to carry you as a "F2P", the progression is pathetically slow. If Maple could make it where boss drops/ crystals value would increased in rates/value based on number of players in party and dmg done PER character to avoid mule service, that would bring back that sense of party play.

Maybe an unpopular opinion monsters outside of PA should give dog shit exp and should only be for completing stories and quests and getting necessary items. Quests and PQs should give you a lot of exp who tf wants to grind for hours just hitting one key it’s stupid. I’d pay so much money for things to be the way they used to be
