Yes, I have a gen 2 at my console I do have ipilot link but never hooked it up, I think its overrated for bass fishing, not worth money in my opinion

Probably hurts a little to have the before vid now, but suck[ing] less can be expensive sometimes. That will be a bit more than a skeg repair 😕, eh? Regardless, it was informative, and I look forward to seeing more vids leveraging electronics to be #catchmore.

I'm thinking of putting a fish finder on my kayak. I've never used 1 and want to keep it as simple as possible (1 graph + 1 batter + 1 transducer if possible), and only buy once. Would you recommend the mega 360 as being the only fish finder? Or do you think there are benefits to side and down imaging then adding mega 360 to that system?
@HellaBass
Жыл бұрын
Bryan, good question, I have never really fished from a Kayak, i will advise you ask this this question of Bailey over at Serious Angler or BE the Fish channel, he is much more knowledgeable about kayak electronics setup
@BEtheFish

Hey Bryan! Helping out Rich here. If you are thinking of adding a fishfinder to your kayak, I would recommend starting out learning one that has Side Imaging, Down Imaging, Mapping and 2D. For example, a Humminbird HELIX 9 MSI GPS G4N is a great model for the kayak that has all the tech you need. I would get accustomed to that tech before you add MEGA 360 or a forward-facing sonar to the mix. Hope that helps!
@bryankaylor2225

@@BEtheFish that helps quite a bit. I hear some use the phrase, "buy once cry once," and I didn't know if that would apply here. I've fished 1 season out of the kayak with no electronics and just beat rip rap banks and fished laydowns. Had success, but on days the fish aren't there, it would be nice to find underwater structure to fish

Can it be done on a gen 3n Helix 10 head unit with a transom mount mega transducer..and 360 transducer? So you can use transom transducer when running main motor and than use 360: when under electric trolling motor?

Can I run standard mega transom mount transducer and 360 transducer with a plitter cable so as to run standard mega transom mount transducer when running main motor and run 360 when under electric trolling motor? With a Helix 10 gen 3 N head unit?

@@davidraguse2106 If I understand your question, you want to be able to use a Mega 360 without using it for side imaging in order to avoid having the 360 transducer down when running the big motor. I was trying to do the same thing. I don't think there is a splitter cable or software available for doing it that way yet (maybe someday). You can do that by plugging and unplugging the transducer connectors on the back of the unit but I definitely wouldn't advise it.

@Hawk-iy2iz

Ipilot link gives you that plus you get the ability to follow contour lines. It is more expensive but there are a few more added features that one Hass to consider if adding the Compass only or the benefits of ipilot link. The other benefit is it you don’t have to screw anything into your boat because your trolling motor is already connected to your unit which in most cases is networked with your other units.

What is the difference between the gps you are using and the one that comes with the ultrex ?
@HellaBass
Жыл бұрын
The puck that comes with the ultrex is not a GPS, the GPS is internal to the ultrex, all that puck does on Ultrex is allow you to use Jog Feature on the remote. My Humminbird GPS w/ Heading Sensor puck allows me to always have a straight line off my bow on my graph regardless of speed or direction
