Great comparison vid. Having a direct comparison between the two cars with both a drag and roll race brings to light what each car can do. Once the ISF has a FBO setup (to include headers), it should be a closer race.

Kinda hard to compare a NA (anything) engine that’s basically stock to a modified and boosted engine Definitely get why the comparison was done and I love the video, but a FBO IsF vs this SC350 would be more comparable and realistic as far as I’m concerned

Great comparison! Really wish you guys would have done another 40 roll where the ISF started in the right gear though. You could hear him go from a really high gear in that race and the car went no where when you both left lol. The 350 is running great though!

Really enjoyed this, I use dragy all the time. I managed a 4.42 in my 08 ISF (catback H&S) to 60 and a 4.53 to 60 in my MY11 (secondary deletes H&S), both verified. Also in the 1/4 in my 08 12.55 @ 113.31 and my best in my 11 so far is 12.72 @ 107.56. Manual/sport/tcs off/vsc off was my best method. I think the stock suspension in my 08 helped my launch as it’s way stiffer than the MY11. I’ll say this mate, that 350 is quick in a roll! Great video!

Awesome comparison. Even though ISF wasn’t FBO still expected it to pull the 350 right at the end on rolls and digs. Crazy how the SC changed the car dramatically. Makes me want to SC my 250 haha.

Much respect for the disclaimers. Had they not been there and viewers reminded of, there would be a lot of conclusions about waste of time, money and cars being slow. Well done! I have a 2008 GS 350 and a 2014 IS 350. I definitely plan to supercharge one of them. Still not sure which. I love them both and have had them for a few years.

@@stephenrand5033 I love the comfort of the GS more as a daily. However, the IS 350 is definitely faster. With same motor and power, the IS 350 in 2014-2020 shape is faster than every generation of GS 350 and noticeably so. The older IS 350, however, the 2006 to 2013 models, are only quicker than both generations of GS 350 through the quarter mile and to 60. After about 80mph it starts falling flat and the GS350 of any generation will pass it on the highway. So overall, the 2014-2020 IS 350 as a daily is the fastest of them all. I have lined up with the 2006 IS 350 (actually owned one) on the highway in the 2014 and I am much quicker. From light to light he would walk me though.

I’ve driven a 2021 is350 and idk why but it didn’t feel as if it was faster then my 14 gs350 maybe it’s just because I’m used to the gs more I definitely like the look of the is350 more but I chose the gs350 over it because of the size and comfort. I really wish I could get a GSF but there so expensive

@@stephenrand5033 you sir are CORRECT! That is why I specifically said the 2014-2020 shape. The 2021+ is a slouch. It only looks pretty. Same motor s the previous gen but definitely slower. Quarter mile on them are like 14.4-14.6 seconds. I saw one at the local track do a few passes. On the flip side, your GS does similar or quicker times. Every generation of IS 350 gets slower and slower.

@@nallis01 yeah it’s kinda disappointing. When I first got to drive it I was excited especially from the looks but then I was disappointed after the performance. It handles decent but the power isn’t there and yeah I’ve taken my gs to the track before and my best quarter mile was 14.2 at 100 I believe but I do have the awd model I kinda wish I got a 2015 is350 sometimes. I wish that for 2021 for the is they gave it a little more power. Even 330-345 would make up for the added weight

Actually it is opposite, Auto shift are mostly better for acceleration. At least that is the case on Lexus and I am speaking from experience IS250>IS250AWD>IS250 F-Sport>IS-F>RC200t>RC-F. As much as you would like to computers are better at knowing when to shift than humans, the only downside is that if you expect kickdown, computer sometimes may misunderstand your intentions and that could delay things, but for simple 1/4 run auto gearbox on Lexus left to shift by itself will be faster than manual shifts every time.

@@ing8404 No it doesn't. Maybe on some cars, but certainly not on Lexus. First thing you need to understand - you can't shift manually in Lexus (except of LF-A), the paddles are for gear ranges. If you just have your foot planted to the floor they will change gears perfectly every single time. In practice you can downshift with paddles by limiting to say 4th or 3rd gear, so car is forced to downshift if it was in say 6th. But you can't upshift on demand, when you press paddle it does not upshift, you just tells gearbox that now it can as well use say 5th gear, but car will continue pulling in 4th and only actually upshift itself when it wants to. However, if you increase the range too late, after the perfect time for shifting, then you may bounce off the rev limiter as he did several times. This is because there is time delay for range change i.e. gearbox was limited to 4th gear, there was time to shift which takes ~100ms, so gearbox predicts that you will need to be in 5th in 100ms and would start gear change 100ms early for perfect shift, however up until that point you had range limited to 4 gears and only clicked the paddle to increase the range 20ms late + it took another 120ms for gearbox to increase the range, by that time car reached the rev limiter and bounced off and only 140ms later it realises that it is now allowed to shift and does it in another say 200ms. So instead of letting car do the change in 100ms, by trying to do it manually you would waste 340ms. And this is not only gearbox, it is as well ECM that manages all aspects of acceleration and when you over-rev the car it has to adjust to be able to upshift. When leaving car in auto, it not only shifts gears, but it as well controls VSC/TC/Throttle for rev matching, injection, valve timing and etc. to get absolutely the best gear shift possible. In short by trying to change gears manually on Lexus you are just interfering with system and preventing it from working optimally. A960E, A760E and AA80E are simple torque converter automatics, they are not DCTs and there is no point upshifting on there gearboxes. Downshifting for overtaking sometimes makes sense, but as soon as your foot is down it is best to push it back into D. There are manual conversions to A760E (so the gearbox in IS350) and it then basically works like you would expect paddle shifters to work, it actually shifts slower (say 200ms instead of 100ms), but that is sometimes acceptable, usually in turbocharged applications where top HP/Torque isn't at the top of rev range and shifting at say 4800RPM is preferable. But on NA or blower it is best to leave it to gearbox to do it automatically.

Marty this is a good vid I own a 2011 ISF, you have the ISF NOW and i know which one i would have. I have driven a few 350,s and there is no comparison as far as a complete car. have a look at Misha Charoudin, just released vid on the ISF around the Nuremburg ring track in Germany that tells you how good the ISF is cheers from OZ. I would love to see how it compares to a properly running ISF, no offense to PMM. Before anyone gets butthurt, I completely understand how DA can affect times, but at 800ft you should still be close to 12s in an F.

These aren’t real drag times with 2 people in the car and going uphill, but we can see my car is .5 seconds faster. So on a drag strip, I’d probably run 12s while the ISF would be 12.5 in its current form

Doesn’t seem like you’re doing a 2 footed launch. If you’re not that’s how they get the times for 0-60. Left foot brake rev up to 2000 rpm and release brake . Both nice cars and great video

Interesting video. Would love to see a dyno test on both cars, that would show the difference. Your 350 is very strong. You should run it on a nice prepped drag strip. It may be surprising. As for that ISF. It seems pretty dull. Mine was a dog until I replaced the MAF sensor and picked up 4/10 over the 1/4. Also manual shift sport mode is quicker every time than sport mode in drive. I hope to see a rematch. That 350 could be knocking on the door of a 11 second time.

Mine dynoed at 429whp last fall, while I’m not sure on this ISF but with his mods should be around 390whp. It’s very strong with the fresh transmission lol. Would be fun to see what it can do at the strip for sure. His ISF feels like many others I’ve driven. Even in manual mode and sport mode it’s quick but the boost on my 350 pulls harder. The ISF needs headers to make the race interesting

This is a great video compare. Dollar for dollar makes more sense for the 350 to be modded up if yr good with having a touch better than ISF speed. Which is no joke. We all know that the F with similar mods would be a beast but pound for pound the IS350 is gonna be way better on gas in normal driving, plus the engine fits under the hood nicely if u have 2 work on the car (which you will). Unlike the ISF where the V8 is shoe-horned into the F. I love the F cuz that V8 sound amazing…where the V6 sounds kinda ehh. But all in all IS350 will save you dough.

I know there are some factors contributing to not the Quickest of times on these runs but they seem a bit slow...For example, My stock 06 is350 with 145,000 miles runs an 8.8 second 1/8th mile ALLDAY at our local track 🤷🏻♂️ just has Fsport intake and the 1st gen HKS Fsport exhaust Lexus offered in 2006 before the "official" f sport exhaust was released.

Nice! I had that exhaust on my old 2007 IS350. Got a 13.6 in the 1/4 with that car. I got a 12.4 with the supercharged car when I was a little heavier. The real world numbers on inclines are just never as good

@@MartyMotoring Nice! It is a good exhaust. Idk why they changed it up to the inferior "F sport exhaust" imo it sounds better. Not as raspy and no drone at all. Yeah, when you supercharged it that thing was scootin for sure. Was sad to see it go. Of course it is hard to top an isf because well isf haha. They are sick AF no doubt so can't even be mad haha. I've wanted to SC mine but it is pretty spendy 😑 may just put her on a small shot of spray. I know a few guys have done it and haven't really had any issues it seems like. There just aren't many of them haha.

very cool is350, but I'd still much rather have the ISF, perfect daily, great v8 power still stock enough where its going to have that lexus reliability, and like mentioned a lot cheaper then an IS350 + S/C. And I'll bet the n/a V8 does gets slightly better MPG.

Thanks! I sold the SC IS350 and got an ISF actually now and while it’s “slower”, the V8 and trans are great. Gets around the same MPG. It’s a great daily! I got a great deal on mine so it did end up being a little cheaper than the IS350 in my case.

Yup that’d be cool just double the price, $25k+ for an ISF and about $12k in headers and supercharger kit, not including install. Awesome if you have the money, lots of power

1 day I will get the RR supercharger too.. 😄😄 How much is the supercharger with labor? Including the new trans? Do you recommend all is350’s to change their trans before a supercharger?

I am not sure what they charge for labor since I did it myself, but the kit is just shy of $7000. Most people shouldn’t have to replace their transmission, but mine was bad

Just over ten grand installed with tune, headers exhaust etc. I just got a quote from RRacing for my 2017 RC 350.

I did a whole build series on it, and I did all the work myself. In the very beginning there were some wiring issues that RR Racing fixed and then they tuned it and it’s been good since!

I really cannot see anything surprising about this. IS-F 5L V8 is 471HP, but it is heavier car overall, IS350 standard is 306HP, so it will be slower, but with supercharger if the power is increased to comparable numbers as IS-F the IS350 will be quicker. All else being equal the acceleration is HP per ton game. So why wouldn't 500HP IS350 be faster than slightly heavier 470HP IS-F?! The only other way to look at it - when these cars are getting older and supercharger kit costs $10k and the similar supercharger can be fitted to IS-F for similar price, then ultimate questions to ask yourself is what is the better car to base your build on and how much power is too much power?

It’s a centrifugal so it doesn’t whine, just builds boost which sounds like a vacuum and then has a blow off valve like a turbo

I prefer a V8. Typically, a V8 doesn’t need to work as hard as a V6 in a apples to apples comparison (which should equate to longevity).

Nice video bro! To me the IS F is a special car, that has a beautiful V8 with gorgeous sounds, beautiful body, but I find the performance difference compared to the 350 to not be that impressive. Even compared to just stock. The difference between the 250 and 350 is a lot more noticeable. But really cool seeing this video and how much difference the supercharger makes!

Yeah, the difference between IS250 and IS350 is much more dramatic than IS350 to ISF. But still, the ISF is a beautiful piece of engineering and artwork.

Well there aren't any turbo kits out there, but there are supercharger kits. Both can get pricey, but usually a supercharged IS350 will be cheaper than an ISF. Just alot more work

is350 sounds sick Times for isf were poor ive managed over half a second quicker on a hot day and up hill

@@osmananwar981 Gotchya. I was also driving his ISF and I’m not light or small haha. Lots of factors that go into it. I’m sure if I kept trying I could get a better time but we had limited time

I think you could've got better times if you don't hit the limiter as much, I got 4.5 on non supercharged fbo 350

Probably, boost hits after 3k rpm so that’s the sweet spot. I got 4.46 doing this last year with the fresh supercharger. I don’t think it’ll get too much faster unless I perfect the launch and shifts and have an LSD
