I left Kenya to Scotland UK to do a one year master program and the thought that dominated me then was that grass is greener elsewhere, especially in Europe. However the experience I had in the UK blew my mind and I longed everyday for my return home. The weather was the complete opposite of Kenya and the people were very much into themselves. Were it not for fellow international students depression would have had me. Since my return here I am enjoying every bit of nature and especially sunshine and I got rid of all dreams to go abroad...

Such insightful content. You present the city with such sensitivity. Given the often very negative and horrible portrayals of African worlds, cities, and places in the Western media, and the horrible image portrayals which have made so many Afro-Europeans feel ashamed of the African continent without even going there, how did you react when you got to Nairobi and found so many of those same westerners who project negative ideas of Africa living here and having their best lives? how do they respond to you when they meet you? (In my experience, it is as if you have invaded their secret enclave and exposed their secret/lies. Not very welcoming). What has been your experience?

Do the Habisha community (people from the Horn of Africa) relate to you differently than other Kenyans? The rich class in Kenya are like the rich people anywhere else and will create the shops and services they need, so no surprises there. Additionally, Kenya is a major hub for expatriates in East Africa will ensure there are facilities that cater to their needs.
