Come Follow the Stream: www.twitch.tv/Narciverse *In the Aid of Avoiding longer term Spoilers in the video I have written up a much more indepth review below.* Once you have completed the initial "Starting Area" the game does open up with an interesting story surrounding the mystery of the ancient human ruins.a very large, Well designed new zone opens up that offers a new tier of materials exclusive to that zone. In addition there is more verticality to climb up and interesting ways to utilise your glider making the exploration in this zone very fun. I can see where they're going with their format and down the line as the Beta is fleshed out and more content is added, New zones will most certainly be part of that expansion. There are additional progression mechanics related to Renoun as a currency that you spend to increase your maximum focus bar but, this right now feels a little shallow and lack luster. I can see this side of the game being expanded later on with a possible skill tree of some kind instead of a binary increase in maximum focus Points. I would feel excited to head to a shrine after accumulating 100 focus points if I knew i was about to unlock a new perk in a specific proffessions skill tree.as for the skill progression itself. Unfortunately it is bare bones right now and upgrades are just gated by levels, materials and Gold... AKA: just the standard gameplay loop. However, as I mentioned in the video, the waiting around for materials to process does not improve as the game goes on, only increases in tedium when materials like cloth and hide and added to the Ore, Stone, Clay and Wood that I showed in the video. As your housing plot expands you gain the ability to place down more processing stations but that is sadly, not a very fun mechanic for me personally.I understand that the point is too go out, fill your bags, come back to your home and then process it so you can head out and explore again, but this gameplay loop is just far too casual and time gatey for me. I would much rather consume MORE materials for a few seconds instead of the standard material consumption for a few minutes. Perhaps the option to do this in the future can be explored? (Coming from Ashes of Creation I like to think my feedback is being heard) This obviously extends to the housing plots and expansions. It just isn't a mechanic I enjoy and I would rather spend DOUBLE even TRIPLE the ammount of materials to finish these builds instantly. 8 Hours for the starting house almost made me quit the game immidiately because I just wanted to progress. I find it fun to be rewarded for the work I put in, I do not find it fun to wait an arbitrary ammount of time just because the game says so. Active play is always more fun than passive play :) I hope you guys enjoy your time in palia and fingers crossed the Devs are some real Gs and continue to improve the game!

I once read a Stardew Valley review written by a competitive FPS guy who said it was his guilty pleasure for unwinding after his regular gaming sessions. I think Palia could be like that as well, even moreso for the MMORPG crowd with its MMO-lite framework and the potential it holds for chill questing and adventuring with friends. There is A LOT they could do with this game down the line and I'm looking forward to seeing how it progresses. Really curious to know what all is on their longterm roadmap. Cozy games have really been exploding in recent years and I'm happy devs are giving the genre so much love.

Credit where Credit is due, you went into it with a very level-headed approach, you didn't bash the game for what it wasn't. You even aknowledged that the game is simply not for you personally. And yet, despite that, you still managed to see the appeal of it and why people might be interested. This kind of open-minded mindset is.... EXTREMELY rare on the internet, many people these days will call a game "Trash" just because it doesn't appeal to them specifically. And you know what? GOOD, not every games should aim to appeal to the vast majority. Because doing so usually prevents devs from trying something entirely new, which, as a results, prevents the Rise of entirely new genres. So yeah, great video man.

I was lucky enough to get into the short CB a day ago, there are bugs and that is to be expected, the devs are VERY active on fixing issues as fast as possible, when it comes to crafting at your workbench and gatherable items, you can actually make a request for that item via the Social (O) and giving this to a request helps other players and gives you a currency (forget the name) so its a win win there, you can do up to about 5 requests and it has a timer of about 60min. It maybe a laid back almost zero battle not MMO, but it is worth playing if you like lore, crafting and exploring. One thing i noticed strait up was the fact that people were asking in chat how to do something that was explained clearly in the tutorial popups, if you are a skip it all type of person then personally i wouldn't play the game as you will be just asking how to do stuff in the chat all the time when you should already know it, but if your one that can skip tutorials ant spend the time to work it out then that is different. One thing i will say is i wish they would make it do you can keep the chat window open all the time, because if you don't check it you miss most of what is said, i also noticed that if you go to your plot (instanced house zone) you the chat is blank, so you cant see what has been said while in your instanced space. Anyway there are other bits and bobs that i could mention but this is already long enough and they are always changing/fixing things, all in all if you like that layback crafter/exploring type game PLAY IT on the 10th (OB) if you don't have an invite to the CB.

1. It's not an MMO. 2. It has the depth of secondary systems of most other games. 3. I like the "soft launch" approach and think more games should take that road. The faster players are in the faster the game will get better for the core playerbase that will see the game through.

In order to meet the definition of MMOG, a game needs to have at least 100 players. Palia's 25 players is not enough. So if the company behind it is claiming it's an MMOG, they are simply wrong and that's false advertising. Also, calling any game an "MMO" or a "massively multiplayer online" doesn't even make sense. Gotta add the G or game at the end. It's like telling someone to DPS.

I don't think so. It doesn't do much that other farming sim games don't already fill, but unlike those games Palia has live service baggage and isn't really an MMO as playable instances cap out at 25 players so you're not really sharing a world with hundreds-thousands of other players, thus not really an MMO. Another example of a game that uses "MMO" as a marketing and monetization scheme than actually offering an MMO experience that a single player/co-op game can provide.

i mean as of now that's kinda to be expected, they are still in very early beta so a lot of things will be added or changed.

That's what happens when game developers try to copy Runescape and Harvest Moon or Rune Factory.

@@davidmmendonca4536 The core mechanics of the game are already finished, they're just very shallow. I think the developers went far out of their way to super simplify everything for the lowest common denominator. Makes me want AoC that much more.

What kind of depth are you looking for exactly? This is on par with games like animal crossing which enough for millions of people.

@@Douchebagus Also if aoC is Ashes of Creation like you're tlaking about, get ready for big pay to win mechanics. The guy is literally taking Archeage and adding on to it lmao

In the meantime, Archeage Classic - a private server is launching tomorrow. It will be version 3.0. Is that the version Stephen played? Would be about 6 years ago.

Palia is distinctly lacking the feel of and MMO. It's empty, no really community feel. Interactions with NPCs are seemingly replacing interactions with real players.

I've seen people that can barely afford food and living buy skin after skin in league of legends, so I don't know. We might be surprised.

Gonna be honest, they need to pay the devs somehow. The fact they seem to be limiting this to outfits and outfits don't have stats is pretty fair. There are other outfits you can earn through gameplay. They aren't resorting to War Thunder's or WoW's practices. Seems pretty fair overall. Heck, Warframe is technically worse. You can totally p2w it, but that effectively skips content. So a lot of people will just earn that stuff by playing the game. You still have whales helping to bankroll the game and the user generated content you can pay for, various packs, etc. And I consider Warframe's model extremely good! I honestly don't know how they make money it's wild as a f2p user. So far this just seems to be clothing... So honestly, not a big deal imo.
