Honestly, PHP isn't that much of a pain to code in. Don't roast me, but I've done PHP for about a year, and honestly: it's not that bad. It obviously has some flaws, but overall, it's okay. Fun fact about me: I learnt PHP before javascript because it is easier to write one piece of code for both the client and the server. Then, I slowly moved to javascript, starting with DocM javascript, followed by node.js

Indeed, not only God moves in mysterious ways. Devs also do. SSR is praised as the new holy grail for all these JS frameworks out there because we can now FINALLY do what PHP came out of the box with long ago. But at the same time - MUST. HATE. ON PHP. Then again, Typescript is celebrated as the coming of Christ, FINALLY type safety! To me Typescript always felt like an afterthought for half-heartedly turning a dynamically typed language into a statically typed one. ' function myMethod(): number ' ...really? IDK. Verbose, unnecessary. Also, type NUMBER? I know, Javascript, but still... c'mon man. ' public static int myMethod() ' on the other hand - now that's clear, concise and to the point, no need for 'function', you just declare the return type. Guess what? This (being Java) ALSO gets a lot of hate from the mobile devs community because - MUST. USE. KOTLIN. Now, this is all fine and dandy UNTIL you want to get a job. If you're not chasing this month's new hottest framework, language, Zeitgeist then you're out, also thanks to channels like this one.

There’re plenty of good Frameworks for PHP. Codeigniter, Cake, Symfony (which laravel was/is actually using under the hood). Laravel just comes with a lot of out of the box tooling and boilerplate which makes it much easier to develop on. But.. Laravel is actually one of the slowest frameworks out there. I love dotnet for anything that needs high performance. Gives great handles and existing tools whilst being one of the fastest webapplication platform. Downside is that it’s easier to mismanage a project and get a peter software project [peter principle]. But at the end of the day, if you know your shit you can write code that’s a giant leap more scalable.
