My wife doesn't mind my buying a 1/4 oz gold coin monthly, but gets upset if I were to buy a full oz every four months. She just doesn't like to see a big chunk of fiat leave our account at one time. My logic on 1/4 oz is once we paid off our car ($500 monthly) I just use that amount which went for monthly vehicle to monthly gold. Every once in awhile she asks if I should replace my 10 year old truck. I explain it's just broke in and it wasn't untill I had it five years before I could use as a truck ( first dent ). Years ago I would have jumped at the offer, these days my priorities have changed.

We’re in the same boat. My wife gets unnerved when I drop a large amount into my brokerage account or when I spend $500+ on silver or gold. She doesn’t like it leaving the “safety” of our savings account. I bought my car almost exactly 10 years ago and the a/c doesn’t work (I’m just lazy, I work nights so it’s ok) and can buy a new car, paid in full, tomorrow if I wanted to. The 1/4th Type III Tiger was a fine deal for under 500 USD. Fractional premiums aren't what they used to be, especially if you're a stacker/hoarder, and if you don't absolutely "Have to Have" the US Mint products. As someone who's always collected coins, the fractionals allowed me to acquire a coin from just about every major mint. I couldn't have done that with ounce coins. But my monthly budget for bullion is only about 400 USD. If you don't buy on a regular basis - the money disappears.

Great advice as always, mate and if your intention was to make these videos lighthearted and positive then you've succeeded! Its fun and knowledgeable but certainly not nonsensical escapism that can sometimes be too easy to retreat to and therefore lose focus and the fight to push forward with a smile! I usually buy tenths or quarters, mostly due to financial restraints rather than any shrewd moves but I think in the short to medium term it offers a lot more flexibility, maybe that's just confirmation bias as I'm not (yet) able to stack hard but its a damn good start. I did however manage to attain my first 1oz gold coin, a Britannia and I honestly don't think I would have managed it without the help from this channel. Cheers!

1/4 ozt AGW really is as close to optimum size as is readily available today. When we look back historically, two major coin sizes pretty much conquered the world during the era of the classical gold standard from approximately 1800 onward. These were the British gold Sovereign (0.2354 ozt AGW) £1 coin, and the French (and later, Latin Monetary Union) gold Napoléon (0.1867 ozt AGW) 20 Franc coin, denominated in the Franc Germinal currency that was instituted by Napoléon Bonaparte when he was still First Consul of the French Republic. These two gold coins (approximating to a 1/4 and 1/5 ozt AGW, respectively) were so practical and handy that they essentially monopolized the world’s commerce between them. Though larger and smaller gold coins denominated in Pound Sterling and Franc Germinal were minted, their mintage numbers were paltry and utterly swamped by the massive output of the super successful Sovereign and Napoléon denominations. These denominations were so successful and popular, that there was never really felt to be a need by their respective mints to introduce other gold coin denominations on a similar large scale (hence the small mintage numbers of the other denominations).

As an numismatist years ago, I traded an 06 American buffalo ( 875) at the time for an 1847 seated dollar. Super nice problem-free example. In hindsight, I would rather have kept the gold and paid Fiat. We all like different things, it was fun to see the what, and hear about the why. Without a doubt! Love 1/4 and even 1/10. I'll buy fractional over 1oz any day. It's easier to find, If you go to a regular dealer you shouldn't be paying super high premiums.

Great video, again. Wouldn't it be nice to have a tube of 1/10 & 1/4 oz American Gold Eagles? But then you'd want to have a tube of all the AGEs. On silver, I watched David Morgan the other day and he actually said for most people a moderate amount of silver is best. Now to figure out what a moderate amount of silver equals, different for everyone, I suppose.

I am always surprised how sizable quarter ounce gold eagles look, especially compared to 24kt gold, even half or full ounce coins. The one classy bit is they do use silver and copper, not just copper. There was a large run of proof quarter ounces for regular bullion price, so people make sure you take the time to look at the price difference. Bad news is, you get spoiled and it becomes harder to get the regular stuff!

I started stacking and prepping in 2008 after that mess - and the entire time I wondered what the situation would be that would confirm my prepping...it turned out to be a pandemic - a pretty lame one in all honesty, but that turned out to be the incident that came along. just noting that no one can predict the situation with certainty - so prepping at any level ends up helping weather the storm...gettiing your debt down being one of my most important preps for hard times..like shutting the whole economy down. having a decent pile of silver and gold was nice to have too - so don't underestimate that piece of the puzzle.

I picked up the reverse proof as well, hope yours were still in the capsules… mine were flopping around the box 🤦♂️ Have you given any thought to considering Pre-33 gold again? I realize the cons you had from your previous videos but does your local shop really not gobble them up the same as modern US gold? Atleast at Apmex the BU random year $10 liberty eagles have lower premiums than the new 1/2 oz eagles.

I cringe when people talk about stacking quantities of 1/4 AEG's. The premium for 1/4 versus 1oz AEG's is like giving away every sixth 1/4 AEG. The budget for one 1/4 AEG per month would cover one 1oz AEG every 3-1/2 months. If the discipline to hold the cash for four months is a challenge, set up auto-deposits to a dedicated savings account. Then view that 3-1/2 month frequency as a stretch goal. When combined with the premium savings, setting aside an extra $18 each week would allow you to purchase a 1oz AEG every 3 months. That's a 33% increase in your savings rate for just $2.50 a day.
