I bought a 700 BDL in 7 mm mag around 1984/5. Still my go to gun 40 years later. I love it. Bolt is smooth as butter and she is a nail driver. Here’s the best part, got it for $400 and it came with a 3x9 redfield scope. A guy had bought it and ran a box of shells through it and didn’t like it. His loss, my gain!

As an avid hunter and firearms enthusiast, I am thrilled to see Remington return with the new Model 700 CDL in .243 Winchester. The Remington Model 700 has a long-standing reputation for accuracy, reliability, and quality, and its reintroduction is a cause for celebration among the shooting community. The .243 Winchester is a versatile and popular cartridge known for its flat trajectory and manageable recoil, making it an excellent choice for hunting a wide variety of game. I am eager to get my hands on the new Model 700 CDL and experience the legendary performance that Remington is known for. Welcome back, Remington!

I inherited my dad’s 1975 Model 700 Mountain Rifle in .270. First year Remington made it. Very thin profile barrel pencil like. It was a very accurate rifle but with my hand loads it’s absolutely unbelievable with 140g SST’s. The old man slayed countless whitetail in the Pennsylvania mountains with it. It’s priceless

Great rifles. I never owned one. I am a Winchester or Ruger bolt action guy. But the Remington 700 is certainly a fine, classic rifle. I hope the "new" Remington does a great job with these. Recoil pad looks a bit much for a .243 WCF. I imagine they are using the same pad for all chamberings. On the other hand, you could remove it and replace it with a thin rubber buttplate for a smaller person. The .243 doesn't generate enough recoil to need a "recoil" pad.

I’m hoping rem arms stops trying to compete with Savage for the cheapest thing on the market and will return to the quality of the past. I’d be happy to pay for quality from them and hopefully they can take back what Bergara and Tikka has taken over in that part of the market. You should really look at the Barnes 95 grain lrx that takes the faster twist rates. I bet it would serve you well. When you figure out how that thing groups I will be interested in watching. 2A💪

I saw a guy at the range the other day with a brand new CDL in 30-06, it was his first rifle I believe. Beautiful rifle. I have one of the "new" R700's as well, SPS tactical with the threaded barrel. Couldn't say a bad word about it. I've put 5 different kinds of factory ammo through it without a hiccup. Ringing steel with all of them out to 600y all day. Barrel is a peach. Unless you have to have that m16 extractor or want the bergara target stock I would say the remington is finally the better money buy which is shocking even to me saying it. Edit: forgot to say that by comparison I didn't notice much difference between the guy's CDL and my SPS except obviously his had the gorgeous stock and the jeweling on his bolt was much nicer visually. Would love to take both bolts side by side and compare the lugs and cocking ramps and such. wouldn't be surprised if they were a little better finished but that's just a hunch

That’s a beautiful rifle ! So it appears that Ruger is technically the manufacturer now is that correct? They bought out Marlin and Remington ? They’re making some very fine lever action rifles as well ! I love that 1 in 8” twist , that’s a game changer right there ! I had a Remington model 7 Predator in .243 Winchester, 22” fluted barrel that had a 1 in 9.125” twist ( 9 & 1/8” ) and it was a tack driver with anything from Hornady 75 grain V-max to 100 grain American Whitetail BTSP . Anyhow I love that twist rate . I’ve been eye balling a Winchester model 70 Featherweight in .243 but after seeing this rifle , I may have to reconsider. Two things I really like better about this BDL here ( did you say BDL ? Title says CDL ) is the 1 in 8” twist and the safety . I’ve never been a fan of the 3 position wing safety on the Winchester model 70’s , they’re more difficult to manipulate in a hunting environment when trying to disengage it to the firing position.

700 is a nice looking classic American rifle for sure! I really do hope they are back to quality under the new RemArms company. Personally for hunting I'd most likely put a Meopta Optika5 (2-10X42)on mine simply because they are a better value than a comparable Leupold VX3. Owning and hunting with both brands (Optika5/VX3) I'd choose the Meopta every time. On the other hand if looks are important you just can't beat that gold ring. For rings I'd probably think about a Tally lightweight setup. I like rails but they are not much fun with short action top loading magazines.

I own Remington rifles from the time they made the stocks with the bowling pin RK finish. It was glossy with the blued metal. The best quality was during those years. The newer Remington rifles do not use the hot blued finish. If you buy a new blued Smith and Wesson revolver. Don’t use Flitz metal polish. I know Remington was having serious quality control issues. Depending on which make and models. If you are shopping for a good rifle or shotgun. The BDL Deluxe models from Remington are excellent!
