The warmth of the Paul Buff Digibee, from a real tube, is so warm and very hard to beat. I am not convinced. The price of this product could stand to come down.

Rotolights are not for EVERY use. Yes, there are some lights out there that would be a better option but Rotolight offers many features other brands just don't have. Even Nanlite Forza 500 would a great option outdoors. The Rotolight Titan is an amazing light as well

I bought this light at launch and I have yet to use it. I spend another couple of hundred dollars buying the Elinchrom remote control. I find it hard to use. I wish there are more teaching videos. I am a Profoto user...and I heard you say this light works with a Profoto remote...which will be awesome. I will look for a video so I can start using this light.

Hi there, yes if you have a PRO model you can use a profoto trigger which you might prefer :) this video using the elinchrom trigger might be helpful: kzitem.info/news/bejne/yYud36J7rXOFh44

There’s a weird thing where you have to turn the group on then off on your trigger to make them work. It’s pretty clunky and definitely not straightforward. Also, compared to real strobes, the output is pretty weak. I bought a pair of them and i’m yet to really figure out how to integrate then

I had a lot of trouble trying to get the Aeos 2 Pro to fire from the Profoto trigger but stumbled on turning the Profoto head off and then on from the trigger and then the Aeos 2 Pro would fire.

So please tell me if I shoot with my Hasselblad at sink speed of 1/2000 at F16 this will over power of the sun? Since it’s a continuous light, it would just get dim down just like the sun I would think.

It depends what time of day you are shooting as to whether the AEOS 2 PRO would 'overpower' it. It definitely elevates the lighting in most lighting situations even if it is as a fill
@creepyloner1979
10 ай бұрын
@@Rotolight it doesn't "depend". even a cheap 100w-s speedlight will outperform the aeos 2 at shutter speeds faster than 1/2s. in flash mode your leds are running at maybe 200w, tops. to achieve 100w-s at 1/2000s, your leds would have to be running at 200,000w!

Yes this might be the case but you have to diffuse any traditional flash or strobe light whereas Rotolight's offer soft output without any modifiers @@barrie2504

@@Rotolight The Profoto was already through a softbox with 2 diffusers in place. Do the test yourself. The Profoto also goes to power 10 and with each integer increase doubles in power. There is no contest. LED lights simply cannot compete with professional flash. The Rotolight is great at what it does, color, but it is NOT a substitute for flash equipment (even a Speedlight, to be honest).

It's not* the only lighting system that can shoot 10 frames a second.. The StellaPro reflex is an LED that shoots at 20fps and is brighter....

How would the light output stack up against, say, a Godox AD200?
@creepyloner1979
10 ай бұрын
aeos 2 pro runs at maybe 200w in flash mode, at best. so it might work as well as an ad200 if you're ok with a one second shutter speed. at a normal flash sync speed of 1/250s you'll be getting around 1/250th the brightness of an ad200. don't waste your money.

How long does the battery last?
@Rotolight

on both lights if you are shooting at 100% batteries would last around 2 hours. V-locks we offer 95, 155 or 310s which go up in capacity so would last longer

I'm probably a bit prejudiced but IMO feel these Rotolights are very overrated. They are pretty expensive and probably need to be to help fund the 'marketing hype' behind them. I have seen testimonials from a few, demonstrating how well they work. Whilst not untrue, their application is IMO confined to relatively low light situations where ISO can, and often is, pushed rather further than necessarily is the case with many alternative lighting products. The Rotolight output is low compared to many, much lower priced, video lights. Do your own research carefully before buying. Ask yourself how easy is it to fit any real range of light modifiers. I have heard it said that Rotolights don't need modifiers - well IMO that is in itself a limitation, but let's not worry about that for now. Attempt to use Rotolights in bright conditions (eg balancing with daylight) and you will soon realise the limitations. OK, for sure, many less expensive lights can't cope either, but these Rotolights are very limited! Maybe shooting 'vampires' ha ha? The idea of both a constant light and a flash (momentarily much more powerful) is conceptually excellent. The fact that very few products exist is testimony to the engineering difficulties. In effect one ends up either compromising the flash power or the continuous light power, or both. These IMO 'fall between two stools' and excel at neither role. That said if you like and want one, go ahead and buy one (or several). I'm unaware of any successful, serious lighting technicians, gaffers, professional photographers (ie with well paying clients) who understand lighting who will use Rotolights from choice. Except, perhaps, those sponsored to use or demonstrate how they can be used. Perhaps you, or others, will correct any possible misconceptions I have for these lights? OK, it's a light and can be used for lighting, but is it the best tool in most situations? I'm pretty bad with analogies....whilst a surgical scalpel is a fine crafted cutting tool, you wouldnt use it for every cutting job - tree surgeons prefer chain saws! That saw is another relatively expensive cutting tool, totally out of place in a hospital operating theatre. I'm not hating on Rotolights, just aware that their marketing and promotional work, entirely legitimate, appears to confuse many newbies.
