Just last week we installed a 3.5" lift on a JK and yesterday we received another Job with the exact same lift, but this time it came with control arm drops and in the box with a new drop pitman arm. Did you try rubbing all the components down (from the inside out) with say, used engine oil? That's a great, cheap rust preventative.

What truck was it, how was the ride quality, did the welds on any of the parts blow, and have you had to do through a lot of suspension parts like ball joints and things like that?

Same truck that is on my channel. Welds never tore and never had any components besides the shocks fail but as I said I blew them out and they were their older ones which are known to fail. I haven't had my ball joints go bad despite the off roading. It's a good kit but it's no custom built baja kit. If you need to get up off the ground and are going to be doing trails it will work just fine for you. If you are looking to blast around off road at speed prepare to open your wallet and look elsewhere. Ride quality is comparable to factory but it's a truck not a Cadillac.

I had a 6 inch RC suspension lift kit on my 2003 Z71 Tahoe on 33's with a RC steering stabilizer. This was at least 7 years ago and it was probably not as nice as the newer RC products, but I beat the living shit out of that truck and never once had an issue with the kit. I would floor it up curbs head-on and have zero issues.. literally just beating the shit outta that truck. In my experience, Rough country is a good company. They will make it right if anything bad does happen or if anything is faulty. Overall, I would definitely recommend RC products.

Have rough country in my Jeep Wrangler TJ. Biggest mistake I’ve made. Pure trash. Shocks ride horrible, springs have sagged ALOT, overall ride quality on and off-road is not good. I thought I’d be saving money in order to upgrade other parts of my Jeep but in the end I’m going to end up spending more money to fix the garbage lift Rough Country sold me.

I got a rough country 2.5” lift for my 91’ s10 blazer ( Tahoe, 4x4, 4.3l ) so I could get different rims, take off the stock flares, add ez-flares and a set of cheap 32”x11.50 rubbers ( thunderers).I basically went with them mainly because it’s almost impossible to find anything for my specific truck ( it’s considered the shitty blazer, no solid front axle, but I like it and I’ve taken great care of it over the years). Truck is used for trails and off-road 75% of the time, I don’t beat on my truck, but I’m also not afraid of pushing it. They hit the mark, at least for my old ass hoopty. I recommend it specifically for the older s10’s, Jimmy’s, and s10 blazers. It’s a good set, get the steering stabilizer, thank me later.

I have been using Rough Country for approximately 20 years. Probably installed about 100 lifts. I have had one problem the shock bushings being bad. They dealt with this and have not had the problem since. I will continue to use them and recommend them above most others. No point in spending more when they work and stand behind their work. I have used Fabtech and others I won't be using Fabtech or super lift ever again!

Mickey Thompson has really good tires but like all the rest, once they got the reputation it comes with a price for the name. I run Yokohama mud terrain and go everywhere Mickey's go for half the price. If you want to run mud terrain you need a soft rubber tire, the highway won't eat them up and less noise.

It's fantastic, will be ordering there 6 inch kit for my HD very soon. My only gripe about RC kits is there not a true 6 inch kit, there 6 inches after you turn your torsion bars up unlike mcgauthys that's a true 7 inch kit (drop brackets are actually 7 inches) other than that RC is the best bang for your buck hands down.

I put a Rough Country 6" lift in my 96 GMC Yukon three years ago, and my truck rides like a sports car, I have had NO ISSUES at all. It installed perfectly and had no issues installing, all instructions were spot on. I hate people that come on KZitem and start bitching about something that they have no clue about. All they can do is put it down and talk about how this kit or that kit is so much better. Bull Shit! The reality is if another company makes a kit that claims to be better that RC, chances are they cut corners and didn't weld components as well as RC, didn't use as high of quality metal, or paint on their parts, and in the end, they don't perform as well or last as well as RC. Three years and hit the trails and pull trucks out of the mud in places they shouldn't have gone and after three years, I haven't got a single scratch on any part of the kit, no rust, no loose parts, everything is as solid as the day it was installed.

The way it was explained to me is most people go with rough country because it’s the cheapest and they do the cheapest options with lifts which is usually just spacers which takes away from ride quality. Combined that with big wheels and small times you have less rubber to cushion the road with. I just ordered a 4 inch Rc lift with their additional struts and shock. Going with a 18” wheel on 35s so I expect it to ride just as good as factory

I have a 2008 Silverado ext can 4x4. I installed the 3.5" lift on my truck at 62k miles. By 89k miles. I needed to replace tie rod ends, upper and lower ball joints and shocks. If you plan on hitting the desert, dunes, or even spend time driving down old fire roads or dozer roads you might want to hold out for a better option. I went with Camburg uppers, Fox 2.5 remost resi front and rear with a deaver mini pack in the rear. Night and day difference off-road. If your not looking to off road much or just like the look RC is a good option.
@edcrabb

You should have replaced the T-rod ends and ball joints when you did the lift installation. Just makes it easier overall. Any time you put a lift on and leave the stock ball joints and tierod ends on they will more than likely fail shortly afterwards, no matter who's lift kit you installed. I did a RC 6" on my 96 GMC Yukon 4x4, and replaced tierod ends and ball joints with Balkamp ball joints and tierod ends. That was three years ago and shes as tight as the day she rolled off the dealers lot. The other thing to do is at 500 miles re-tighten everything and ever 3K miles there after. Happy wheelen Bro!

Your comment is a good heads up to would be buyers, however just like literally anything else anyone makes, there's bound to be products that sneak through QC or just otherwise end up bad during fabrication and what have you. Now I'm not here to defend RC, dont own any of there products and haven't for over 5 yrs. But the DO NOT, I REPEAT , war ingenuity isnt exactly warranted. Your advice and opinion would be taken more serious if you simply said, "hey I bought this product, this is the problem I had with it, I cant currently recommend it based on my experience" rather than saying dont touch it or you will be sorry because if I had this experience then EVERYONE will have the same. Anyhow that being said did you contact RC and try to resolve the problem? If so how did that go? What product did you end up using that worked for you, and what was your experience with the alternative?
