13.03 The Kelpies 😁 Next time get on a train in Edinburgh, get off at Linlithgow & visit the Palace. Get back on the train & visit Stirling Castle & Wallace Monument. Go back across the Forth & visit some of the Fife beaches & harbours - excellent fish & chips in Anstruther. About an hour south of Edinburgh is New Lanark, a UNESCO world heritage site. Edinburgh is an easy city to be a tourist in because it's all right in front of you as you leave the station - Old Town & New Town, the dodgy bits are all on the outskirts and some have already undergone gentrification - Leith in particular. Glasgow is harder, you have to go looking for a lot of the history & galleries, it's more spread out - the dodgy bits are a bit more intermingled, which just makes it a bit more real but still well worth visiting.

I could fill a whole page of places you should visit in Scotland! I was born in Edinburgh 72 years ago, I now live in the new town (Livingston) I have done the west highland way, the Caledonian canal, drove on the 500 way back in the 80s before it came famous! I have done island hoping and much much more! Yeah we don't always have the weather - But if you wear the right clothes, then there is no problem! Just the midges and the clegs you got to be aware of when way up north! I am a pensioner and even I have not seen every loch and mountain! Scotland is small on any map - Yet some visitors think they can see the whole of Scotland in a few days? Anyway - So glad you loved our country and yes - to me and many others - Scotland is the best country to live in - We will never be short of water and whisky lol! Haste ye back!

Thanks for visiting my lovely Country, glad you enjoyed it. Edinburgh is a mixture of old and new city with some excellent places to visit. It's also the financial capital of Scotland with a lot of wealth in the City. Glasgow is Scotland's largest City, it's also a working class City and has the most welcoming and friendly people. Glasgow has been modernised over the last few Decades to become the metropolitan City it is today. On your next visit i'd highly recomend going to Shetland either by flying via Plane or taking the Ferry via Aberdeen, though the Ferry is a 12 hour journey across the North Sea...and wrap up warm lol. Glad you enjoyed Scotland. 😊 Having worked in the Holiday Accommodation business in this beautiful country for several years I have seen the habits of tourists/visitors when they come here and am always baffled by this urgency that many people have to tick the boxes and whizz around hoping to see everything. .... If I could offer some simple advice to people reading these comments I would say, don’t try to do everything. Scotland is bigger than people think and not the easiest place to get around. I appreciate that for many this might be a once in a lifetime holiday, but if you can, aim at staying in one or two places and explore out from there. Allow this land to absorb into you, and let its magic work on you. Maybe I’m just getting older and can’t take a frantic pace anymore but the idea of whizzing up from Glasgow to Inveraray (a two hour car journey), and then spending a short time in what is essentially a tourist trap before ignoring the rest of Argyll to get to Oban to then Sit a on ferry for ages so you can tick off some Hebridean islands, is not my idea of fun. .... But each to their own. I guess what I’m attempting to say in my long winded way is take your time and enjoy your holiday. Scotland is magical, and outside of the cities it is peaceful too.....Allow it to embrace you. Thanks for the video guys 😊🙏

As for characters Glasgow had characters many decades ago all have passed away a long time ago now No more comic singers in Glasgow today to get a laugh at as no more Rab C Nesbitts... Barras market also cut right down to much smaller market size and used to get Rab Cs there one time way back over 25 yrs ago its all quiet today and not near as busy as yrs gone past . Glasgow is a city in Scotland which takes in all the refugees the ones sent to Scotland normally sent to Glasgow to stay within the poorer areas Just some facts re - Glasgow for the tourists .

As a result there are fewer very old buildings but those from the 19th and 20th centuries are numerous and fine. And the graveyard in Greyfriars churchyard has graves within of dogs and old mans John Gray ..Anyhow only thing about Edinburgh and Scotland as a whole is it can be hilly and with many of the cobble stones to walk . As for the Netherlands its all on the flat which makes it easier if on foot or cycling which is big there u shall fins and Amsterdam i used as a base to explore other also parts of the Netherlands as main railway station was handy for that in " Centraal Station " to get a train to other parts i went to Haarlem with the square being nice and Leiden < A university type town also nice visit and Volendam a fishing town was also fun to visit ..but are so many others its your choice As for again in Scotland the Isle of Skye also nice part to go and you can go the Highland Way route and head up also for to view Fort William where the highest Mpuntain in UK sits being " Ben Nevis " and places to visit for to take pics etc .. another nice part in Scotland is Ullapool and Oban etc Enjoy yer travels folks .

I don't blame them - especially as many Americans get such little vacation time. But I would urge travellers to soak up the experience slowly if they can and really get to know both the Country and it's people. Chances are you'd want to return anyway!

Having been born and brought in Glasgow, the reason why you feel that way is because a lot of our old buildings were pulled to the ground, which you can 'thank' our idiotic council for doing. A shining example of that was the old Argylle hotel that sat at St. Enoch and was replaced by the 'St. Enoch shopping centre', which is soon to be raised to the ground. There's a lot to see of Scotland, you only have to look up Castle Campbell, although it's apparently currently not open at the moment, the views from high up are spectacular; then there is Dunrobin Castle way up north, as well as Culzean Castle that is farther to the South. There's the famous Burns Cottage, which was where the famous bard, Robert Burns, was born and raised, it has the museum, the famous church and 'Brig O' Doon' that he wrote 'Tam O' Shanter' on. There's even farther south his Mausoleum where he is laid to rest, his old house. If you're someone that takes interest to the Viking history correlative to the invasions in Scotland, Largs apparently has a museum and the history about the Battle of Largs, as well as in the Shetland they hold festivals each year where you see them burn the torches and put on a big display. Also keep note, at the current moment they will be building or have planned to build a Pictish Broch, which is an ancient Pictish stone settlement, they're going to be using the original building technique to build for the first time since one of those massive brochs way up north: • www.thebrochproject.co.uk/other-projects • www.visitorsguidetoscotland.com/2022/01/replica-scottish-broch/ How far they've got with that, I've no idea, but that for certain is something that should excite tourists as that is something that would enable you to see inside something that goes back to the iron age. All that being said, it's wonderful to see you's enjoyed yourselves here in Scotland. You's are always more than welcome.

Edinburgh is undoubtedly very pretty, Glasgow is better for shopping, it has am underground train system too that is very easy, it’s just circular, outer ring & inner ring, go to the west end of Glasgow, it’s very trendy with lots of interesting bars & resturaunts, go to some whisky bars & do a whisky tasting, there’s great nightlife in Glasgow, we have the OVO HYDRO, 14,000 capacity where all the big musicians perform, my favourite pub is in the city centre, The Pot Still with over 700 whiskies with very knowledgable bar staff, in Glasgow you have to do more research to find out what there is to do, Edinburgh is very obvious, you just need to walk around looking at stuff, you can take a bus from Glasgow to Loch Lomond for the day, it’s a very short journey but so nice there, don’t dismiss Glasgow as it has tons to offer, it just takes more effort from you

I used to cycle to Loch Lomond (Balloch) from Glasgow. There is a cycle path that you can pick up from the SECC/OVO, I think it is the National Cycle Route 7. You can then get the train back to Queen Street.

Haste ye back guys. Like everywhere we go, if we're only there for a short while we tend to do the standout attractions. Speak to a local and you might find that wee nugget that isn't in the guide book. Not sure if it interests you but my "wee nuggets" for Edinburgh would be any "below ground tours", The Chocolatarium, , Gladstones Land, Afternoon tea at the Colonnades, Surgeons Hall tour, The Dean Village and many more.

So glad you enjoyed visiting my country and please come again, little surprised by your comparisons between Glasgow and Edinburgh because you two seem very nice and if looking at old buildings is your thing then fair enough but we have a saying in my city and its "people make Glasgow" the reason for this is because we're a working class city, Edinburgh is not and everyone in Scotland knows that folk from Edinburgh think they're better than everyone else, when I go away its to meet the people not look at old stone, but each to their own I suppose. Like I said you seem to be lovely people and next time you're in Scotland spend more time in the west, get drunk have a night out in Glasgow and spend time with genuine people who won't judge you depending on what you're wearing and how much money you earn, like the snobs through in "castle town" will 😉

Edinburgh has posh parts and rough parts just same as Glasgow ..Pilton , Muirhouse , Drylaw , Leith , Niddrie , Westerhailes to name a few part in Edinbiurgh which is working class and as rough as anywhere in Glasgow . Not all posh in Edinburgh apart from within the heart of the city and New Town areas .

The usual nasty comment from Glasgow. I lived in Edinburgh, and I didn't find anyone who thought they were better than others. I wonder if you have ever spent any time in Edinburgh. Oh, and I have been in Glasgow. It's a nice city since it was cleaned up, and shows off the lovely architecture. Used to be a very smelly, dirty place.

Come across your videos as like to see peoples views on places they visit. Pleased you liked Scotland so much, and so refreshing to see a lovely young couple doing this kind of thing. If returning you need to spend more time experiencing the Highlands and islands. Especially the west coast Oban, fort Augustus , inverness and of course not forgetting the Isles of Arran, Mull and Skye.... plenty so see and do, a must if you like sea food, and if you like your whiskey a never ending supply of distilleries. Good luck with future travels, I will enjoy watching the rest of your video's. 🏴
