Yes, of course. I don't want to hear the "more time" argument. Just the last two full seasons of historically great two-way performance and the buzz he created in the sport and across the sporting world, that's more than enough to qualify Shohei for his own freakin' room at the HOF. What he's already done more than justifies his place in the HOF. Shohei Ohtani is a once-in-the-sport phenomenon who has accomplished what no one before him has done, including the legendary Babe Ruth. It would be a travesty to deny him his rightful place in the HOF. While others built their case for the hall over many years of sustained excellence, Ohtani has created a unique legendary story for baseball even if he stopped playing tomorrow.

100%. He could retire today and he is already a HOFer. Shohei defined an era an reinvigorated the sport of baseball. His place in the HOF was solidified when he struck out Trout to win the WBC with Japan in my mind. For all the criticism I have about his pitching approach this season, he’s still performing as a top 10-15 pitcher in the AL and a top 10 batter in the AL. While I think he’s relying too much on his sweeper, I feels he’s still been phenomenal. My only hope is I can see him combine his 2021 hitting season and 2022 pitching season in regard to his individual season. However, I would trade all that to see a magestic Shohei run in the playoffs culminating in a WS

All we need is just a FEW more years of Ohtani’s current production, then he is automatic in my opinion. He will need a ring for consideration as the true GOAT. But make no mistake he’s the greatest in my personal opinion. I’ve said this before, but thank you for being such a champion for Ohtani. It means a lot. He needs to be celebrated and recognized for what he is doing. I NEVER would have even dreamed that a player like him could possibly exist. But he’s doing it right before our eyes!!! Truly unbelievable. Thank you, Ben!!!

Man as a Astro fan I have to give him credit, he is the most difficult player to pitch to because he literally is a freaking golfer, he hit Ryan pressly curve ball that was damn near in the dirt by the way 450 ft like are you foreal??? If you can’t throw at the dirt without get homer on I don’t know what else to do, he hit a 8 inning triple to win the game basically for the angels on another ball damn near in the dirt but this was running in on him. Unbelievable with the bat

first of all…that WAR rule is completely ridiculous & unfair…considering pitchers are the ultimate defenders for any ball club …pitchers are the only players who have a chance @ striking out a batter …what’s more defensive than that …& secondly …I pity the fool who undermines the power of the BVG

Also, as a side note, the recent WBC was one of the few baseball games I’ve had the privilege of enjoying with my father. I can say that after that at-bat my father shed tears for the first time in front of me and was so proud and emotional about what he witnessed. Heck, my grandmother hadn’t watched a full game for decades, since Oh Sadaharu and Arakawa Hiroshi who my grandfather was a big fan of and has a couple signed ball. She said that there’s no way there’s ever been anybody better than Shohei. My father watched and loved and idolized Nomo and Matsui and my grandfather also loved Ichiro as well. However, they aren’t even close, right now Ohtani is to Japan what Messi is to Argentina. People can argue stats or postseason success all they want but being a pioneer, doing something no one has ever done and inspiring people of all ages and races and cultures and etc is a legitimate reason for induction. He’s a unicorn so why are we judging him by same standards, being a two way player you can argue his service time should be double of what it is since he does two jobs.

Ohtani is an excellent fielding pitcher. So in addition to dictating the defense when he's on the mound, however he gets the outs, he also serves very well in fielding his position there.

How can a player that is right now better than Babe Ruth not be in the HOF?????

You have to have either longevity, post season success, or both to be a HOF. Shohei needs more time, but he’s definitely on the trajectory, obviously

3 full seasons of two-way elite hitting and pitching should put him into the Hall Of Fame. But I hope to see Shohei in the post-season at least once, maybe win one if it's possible, and have a long career and a couple more seasons of two-way baseball.

The Japanese high school coaching system is amazing. I worked at a Japanese high school that was otherwise unremarkable. However, one of the students had a remarkable talent in the 400 meter dash. All of a sudden, the system moves heaven and earth to transfer coaches to that high school. It goes from being a backwater with nothing remarkable to having the best track and field coaches in the prefecture. The really amazing thing is that they had this planned from middle school. They identify the talent and they are willing to bring the teachers to nurture that talent.

Even though as a die hard fan I think he still need to play two way for another 5 years. Once he's done that and consistently winning at least 10 games per season and hitting at least 20 homerun, I'd say he's a given to be in the Baseball HOF.

I believe you need 10 years service time to be eligible for the HOF. But i guess he should count double as a hitter and pitcher every year so absolutely he should be Cooperstown bound.

I started watching baseball in 1977 and I stopped watching it in 1997 because it was too slow and I stuck with hockey and soccer but when I heard about ohtani and saw him I had to keep watching him. He's must see TV. I saw legendary players from 1977 to 1997 but theirs nothing like ohtani. He's the goat. Anyone making the arrow judge argument is just embarrassing themselves. The mvp trophy is not worthy of ohtani. He is saving baseball
