@@RhettandClaire so would I I'm U.S. as The acomadation are cheap by U.S. Canadian or European standards. And you have the up scale ones. So I have 2 questions #1 do they have places for as low as $10/ night like I had in Central and South America?? ( yes I do realize they wouldn't be glamorous) but do they exist outside the tourist places? And #2 I am guessing that the payphones in South Africa are almost gone??? Am I correct in thinking they'll only be around the airport the bus. station and maybe a shopping center if you're lucky might still have 1 left?? I'm guessing that's the case also... AND I'll say I've witnessed only 3 people use the payphone in the past year and 2 of them were the Amish.. no surprise I guess.. However I am 36 I remember when long distance call from the house phone were $6/ hour. That's pretty much a dull point now.. As I just can't understand why you buy a phone pay the bill yet it doesn't work all over the world. Mine $60/ month. Works in the U.S. and Canada. I don't think my phone would even work in South Africa but if I did I would probably cost me like 25 cents/ minute. So that's like $15/ hour added to my bill.. IF it would even work in the 1st place. I'd hope before 2030 a phone from anywhere will work anywhere for 1 set price. $50 €50 R 800. Phones to work everywhere. Because honestly if they don't I might as well be calling from the house phone as I did as a kid from the standpoint extra money is being charged calling outside the local city. Sorry to be so long and drug out with these questions. I'm just trying to get a good analysis

@@RhettandClaire I will also say as a side note I worked at a large shopping mall 2017 until this covid19 situation. The place was built back in 1983.. they had about 2 dozen payphones back then. When I worked thier 1 was left by the security office. And the rest were made into supply closets. Ya open this up get cleaning supplies. Oh thier use to be a payphone here. Well now it's a closets to get supplies.. go figure.. So ya payphones are almost gone in the U.S. but a few are still around

Nice video guys. I'm from SA but living in the UK at the moment. It's still cheaper than the UK. I think cost of living has gone up throughout the globe. In the UK we are now paying 30% more on fuel compare to the same period last year. Not to mention food, gas, electricity prices which have gone through the roof over the recent months. If you are on the low income you are definitely screwed.

That's about $2,500? Might I live 3 months of the Northern hemisphere winter and celebrate New Years outside the U.S. something to contemplating. Thus far I've traveled through the western hemisphere Latin America and the Caribbean. This covid19 situation has delayed my travels across the ocean. I DID however after loosing my job get a different job unrelated to what I was doing before. And pays slightly better. Granted I'm saving up. As I hope to do more travels before I'm 40. I'm 36 now. Never been married no kids. Just think 2025/2026 I'm thinking do I want to spend New Years elsewhere.. as my past travels were oftentimes done in the northern hemisphere summer months. Well currently is when I make my money. I live in Florida full-time but 1/2 the year I'm working up in Alaska. That's my primary job. Granted well despite a run down of my life in recent past.. I can say I'd still contemplate opting for cheap places in South Africa. However what you've described is in reach.. You've given me something to think about

@@RhettandClaire well my internet doesn't work if my phone doesn't. I have 3 friends of that thing. 1 in the U.S. 1 in Jamaica and 1 in the Domican Republic. I can also call people on the Facebook messenger. Which a couple of my European friends I do. I've directly called Portugal twice. Called him on his mother's house phone. That cost me 25 cents/ minute. But if I have no phone then I have no internet either. As so I can't make or receive calls of any kind. Think about this.. if you're standing next to me in the same room in the U.S. I call you.. it cost 25 cents a minute. ( Granted that's assuming your phone will even be able to except the call) if not still cost me 25 cents for your voice-mail to pick up. And we're standing next to each other in the same room.. Now I call my sister several states away whether we talk for 2 minutes or we talk for 2 days straight until we both fall over from sleep depervation it's still the same price. Just pay my $60/ month phone bill.. When I lay it out that way.. that makes absolutely no damn sense. You pay the phone bill you expect to be able to use the phone right???. I HOPE that will be the case very soon. Like before 2025... I mean who cares if I'm in the U.S. South Africa France.. ware ever I'm paying the phone bill to have a phone... and yet is that such the case. And as mentioned if this were 1995 it would cost me $6/ hour to call another U.S. state on a house phone. However it's not 1995 it's 2022. I guess thors of us old enough to remember that.. are really saying... okay.... why??? Most everyone has a cell phone now. Cool I can call the U.S. and Canada.. I paid the bill.. well then why the hell should I pay another bill if I'm anywhere elsewhere????? It's not 1995. The phone is carried with me. Not plugged into the wall at the house. However unfortunately if I am to travel international with the exception of Canada it might as well be... As let's hope that's no longer the case within the next 3 years

@@RhettandClaire and I'm 36. So I'm not really that old. The last generation to grow up before cell phones came into everybody's life. And the way I perceived it as I explained is what good are they really if they are next to useless when you go international???. I mean I know how to buy a calling card and use it from a payphone or land-line. Granted only a select few places sell thoes types of calling cards anymore. And once you do get one. Better find somebody's home or a place of business that will let you use their land line if you can't find a payphone. Oh that's right.. you have a hard time finding a payphone anymore.... um... ya you might as well not even have a cell phone in the 1st place if it's not a working cell phone.. so if the world has come to nearly everybody having a cell phone. Then it needs to come to people having a cell phone that will work.. we as society of plant earth need to get that taken care of.
