Hi, do foreigners need to have a work permit to work in Sri Lanka as a digital nomad under current laws? What is the process for this? What does taxation look like in this instance?

Just the kind of tourist we need. Nomads that make tons of $ working in beach side resorts/hotels on cheap negotiated long term leases , spending $1 or $ 2 per meal. At the same time tourist that will spend more/ travel the country and pay daily rates will choose another destination because there are normads taking up space in idealistic resorts.

Just the kind of narrow minded folks we have in the authorities atm, who’d rather focus on short term tourists who come and create a massive strain on our natural resources over a short period of time. Digital nomads spend a minimum of at least 3-6 months in a country. Work the math out and you’d see they’d still offer more to the country with a much smaller footprint than the standard tourist. Also the fringe jobs & skill sets digital nomads pass on to the locals are invaluable! It would help a country like ours immensely
