we need more QOL like mass scrap certain units, being able to customize the ai building for your country like double coal production by 2033 or something. foreign investment, and either extremly improved military ai or simplify the war system. right now its just a clunky drag all and right click or leave it to a horrible ai. and also we need a way to mass demolish buildings and roads and mass build buildings and roads without billion clicks.

Easier ways to scrap units would be great! And omg the road demolishing is tedious. Definitely need some sort of area selection.

Although Galactic Ruler has some good stuff, i would say it's a failure of a game. Galactic Ruler was a failed project from the start, and how it wouldn't be? It was suppose to compete with Stellaris, Endless Space 2 & other amazing 4x games. Galactic Ruler didn't bring any unique mechanics... it was just Supreme Ruler in space... with shitty graphics. Supreme Ruler 2030 does look like a reskin of SRU. There aren't enough features to be considered a new game, a DLC at best and even that is a bit of stretch. 64 bit will do nothing to improve the game that much, it will just be possible to allocate more RAM and that's pretty much it. The style of the game is old and it's in desperate need of a proper graphics & UI designer, it feels like a Win98 era game. Think of Superpower 2. Even Superpower 2 has better economy system. Even the broken piece of turd that is Power & Revolution has some amazing mechanics and economy system... when they work in the first hour and then just crash or i get -50% of GDP deficit from nowhere while being on 6% plus previous quarter... But never mind Eversim, they are greedy bastards. Supreme Ruler is a game with HUGE potential that BattleGoat just doesn't have the resources to shine it. I have yet to see a better war system with the huge number of unit variety. The economy system does work, but it's kinda too... simplified. You got 11 resources, of which only Petroleum, Electricity, Consumer, Industrial & Millitary does matter, the rest can be bought from the market and have very little role, except being a nuisance(middle finger to Rubber). The diplomacy system is non-existent. The whole purpose of the game is to pump as much units as you can and go color the map... there is no depth to the game. I want to see Eastern European countries become the dominant in Europe, or African Superpower competing with US or China, maybe even South American superpower as well. You just don't see those things. Europe gets eaten by Germany or Russia, US eats Americas, China eats Asia... that's about 85% of the games i had in SRU. I could go on and on, but i won't. It's a long post anyway.

Pretty spot on. I love the mechanics of the game (especially over the province based system games). It has massive potential but they just don't seem to be able to get there. Personally, I think the diplomatic system is it's biggest drawback, followed closely by the AI.

Early in Galactic Ruler's development, I told the Devs that it was really important to me that, being a sci-fi game in space, that they add unit design. They said they weren't interested in doing that, so I ended up not buying the game.

Yea ugh - idk I think its just a super reskin. I think you made a lot of good points man, that is all fair. But I mean its like 90% the old game with some updates. The fact that a video needs to be made in the first place on this topic really tells you all you need to know about the situation lol....

bro'... interesting comparison and you made some good points about the improvements SR2030 brings to the gameplay experience compared to SRU I'm an OG in the SR series, since the first SR2020 to this day, so decades... (way too many hours sunk in) my belief, I strongly think the SR2010 is the best they came out with, mainly because it was carefully made, as the first product launched to capture a loyal audience and retain a significant player base... if one could have colonies and rename hexes SR2010 would literally be the best, despite the devs, even Chris stating they no longer even have the source code for it... which is BS, cause if they don't, then, they could easily reverse engineer it, since they create it in the first place anyway... however, back to SR2030 and your comparison to SRU, did you make a follow-up video about it - if it's a reskin or not - now after the SR2030 release and some bug fixes..??.. I still don't have it, I'm still on SRU, and I kinda think it's still an improved 64bit reskin, yet not a different better game, which doesn't justify (for me) the price to buy SR2030 not even while it's on sale promotions...

I have not made a followup video, but my thoughts come out in my playthrough videos. I can summarize though. While the assets are merely overhauled in many cases, the actual gameplay is exceptionally different due to changes to the AI, treasury, unit stats, and more. It feels like a sequel that reuses assets, but it different in every other way. However i find most of those changes to be detrimental. The devs attempts to fix them feel more like putting bandaids over bad design choices to avoid having to do redesigns. I prefer SRU by a long shot.

@@KonglomeratYT thanks for following up with me on this, and so fast... I also prefer SRU, although I don't have (yet) SR2030 so I can't quite compare it well... it was a free SR2030 demo for about 48 hrs or so before launch that of course I've tried, and I maintain my position, for now, SRU seems to be better, even if, once again. my very personal opinion is that SR2020 is the best... just setting up my own DEFCON as I do it in SR2020 is priceless and still worth playing, though it kills me not to have colonies and rename hexes... I've suggested personally to Chirs to do a remaster of SR2020 and launch it again, after decades, and he mentioned the source code is lost and the former dev team that created it, is no longer with them... I've replied that I could reverse engineer it myself with a few friends if we put our mind to it... hehe... but, I still told him they could do it better, so they should do it eventually... do they listen?? only time will tell...

After 1050hrs in sru I think 2030 is a step backwards in a lot of ways. The UI is poorer and the game feels pretty bare bones right now. Sure it runs better and the graphics have been cleaned up a bit... but I can't see anyone paying full price for 2030 if they have 2020 ultimate.

While the infomercial is appreciated, it's not convincing that this upcoming SR is not just a re-skin of SR: Ultimate with minor features added to harp on it being "new" (and BG probably encouraged you to say these things as part of their marketing stunt).

BG gave me no instructions on what to say. All I got was beta access and instructions to put a beta tag over beta footage (Though I believe that was after this video). If I was asked to say specific things then I would request payment and disclose paid promotion status.

Honestly if they kept old map, old interface from 2020 would've been better. I don't like the "dots" under units. Tells me nothing.
@KonglomeratYT
9 ай бұрын
The dots are a rating of how the AI views the unit as per your current tech. If you hover over, the info expands and provides more detailed information on exactly why the rating is provided. Once you feel out the reasons why the AI likes things, it can help save you so much time sorting through designs because, with just a glance at the dots, you can generally accurately figure out things like the age, operational distance, and stats compared to other units.
