I use the IOS version of Microsoft Remote Desktop on my iPad. Unfortunately, the floating keyboard is not supported from what I can see. It would be useful when making changes to fields where the keyboard covers that area of NINA. I sometimes accidentally move NINA panels in the image mode out of their spaces and have a hard time getting them back or resizing windows because of finger resolution and I end up going to my MacBook Remote Desktop session to make corrections. I have an ASIAir and I don’t find it works well with my AVX mount so I now use NINA.

Certainly I can't switch on hotspot without wifi coming on too; one wont work without the other. So I'm not clear from the video what connection the telescope PC uses once it's away from the home network. Can I just give it a hotspot from my phone, even if there's no data signal? Otherwise I think I followed everything else; I just haven't been able to cut the ties to my home wifi yet.

Great that you introduce this way to control NINA. 👍 I use my Android tablet to control my mini PC on the scope which is running NINA via Remote Desktop. On the phone I did not try yet as the smartphone screen is so tiny. In order to be ready to interact with the mini PC I have set up the Remote Desktop to it on my tablet and also paralell in all my notebooks and stationary PCs. Just in case. 😉 So no matter what I do while imaging I can always check what is going on without searching a specific device. Helps me being lazy. 😄 As the online DB for the framing assistant I downloaded the Sky Atlas Repository and the Framing Assistant Cache for NINA. This gives me instant update in the Framing Assistant and the Sky Atlas without any waiting time. From all your videos I have learnt so much about astrophotography and especially about NINA plus running it on a mini PC. Thanks a lot for that! 🙏

That's pretty cool, I was not aware that Microsoft had a mobile version of the RDP software. I normally use Chrome Remote Desktop on my phone, which I do like because I can zoom in by pinching the screen so I don't have to fuss around with resolution differences, but I will admit that it is quite a bit slower than true RDP. However, I will also say that the wifi signal in my yard is quite poor, so I have the mini PC connected via ethernet and some times I have to just turn the wifi off on my phone and use my cellular connection to interface with the PC, which is one advantage of using Chrome Remote Desktop

Hi Cuiv. I can control my eagle from my mobile phone via windows remote desktop but hardly use it these days because I find the screen and buttons on my phone to be too small, my eyes aren't what they used to be. If I need to adjust something while standing next to my scope then I will use my phone or tablet, but when imaging I transfer control to my laptop which also connects via remote desktop. Another thing I noticed was my wifi connection would usually drop out if I went back into my house with my phone, which of course doesn't happen with my laptop. Being able to control everything from your phone is obviously great if you are traveling to a dark site to image as you don't need to take a laptop. I still haven't got round to using N.I.N.A. yet, Sharp Cap V.4 does everything I need and is dead easy to use. For quick sessions using my grab and go set up, I just use an ASIAir mini, has to be the easiest way to control everything, so long as you are using ZWO equipment or supported mounts and DSLRs that is. To remote access I use guacamole, that lets me access my equipment (both to Win and Linux) through a browser everywhere, not only just while I'm home. It support RDP and VNC (and other protocols). I basically do the same method for controlling my rig. I use a tablet instead of the phone primarily because of a bigger screen. I do occasionally run into two main issues. The first, RDP every now and then crashes on the tablet or phone. Just reboot the tablet, make sure on same wifi, run RDP and Im back up and running. The second problem I have to be careful. When re-connecting via RDP, like when I walked out of wifi range or the tablet was in sleep mode for too long, I will get a message saying that Im already connected, do I want to end that connection and sign on? DONT. Just reboot and re-run RDP on the device. If you do, it basically reboots the min -iPC and then gotta restart everything including setting up the sequence again.
