@@NicheRiding What about a 24 mile (one way) to work on a Grom/Monkey/Cub?

I'm dead set on buying a Grom! I grew up in Tampa and cruising the streets of Tampa and around Ybor would be so much fun on a Grom. I currently live in the Cali in the Sierras and my daily Grom commute would consists of a 48 miles round trip through the mountains with a lot of elevation gain and 55mph speed limit the whole way, It may get a bit tricky.

Live at NYC, perfect to have a Grom since over here the top speed limit is like 5 mph on highway and lane splitting is easier too
@NicheRiding

I wish, I do tend to lane split if it is bad traffic and i can zip through but not too often.

Moved to Orlando from Southern California just over a month ago. I work at Disney World and i take the same roads in this video 5 days a week to get to work. The traffic here is literally nothing compared to California. I really want a grom but i just gotta get past how much money ill have to spend to own one. That one time fee of around $3300 is a tough pill to swallow. Great vid though!

3k is nothing:) Buy one used then for like 2500! Don't let it stop you, there are HUGE grom groups in Florida you can join once you buy one. They do weekly rides in the Orlando area around Thurs night at bike night over at the Ace Cafe. Let's put it this way, I financed my motorcycle and with zero down it's 76 a month! I pay far more than that but just so you know how cheap they really are if you need to finance one. My sport bike (kawasaki zx6r) was 6k used after offering cash!

I commute about 50 miles a day round trip, on the freeway. I use a Honda Rebel 250. It tops out at around 80 mph GPS. I just bought a new 2016 at a closeout price, got it OTD for several hundred less than a new Grom. It is completely free of all the electronic garbage they put on modern bikes. No EFI on the Rebel, just a single carburetor. For an inexpensive commuter it can't be beat.

exactly, I think most people are just scared. I bought my bike over in Winter Haven and had to take i4 back and even though my wife wanted to run me off of the road for going so slow, I made it:)

This question doesn’t apply to the video but I’ve always watched all your vids & seem like an honest guy. So the question is looking back would you still start on a 250cc or would’ve jumped right for the 600cc? I’m getting my first bike this year & having a hard time choosing an r3 or gsxr600
@NicheRiding

Sure I'll help, so I was very nervous about being on a motorcycle so the 250/300 was the right path for me! I had zero experience on motorcycles so I was timid and took a few weeks to get used to it but after that I was golden. Since the smaller bikes hold their used value so good, you can keep it for as long as you need and resell it for the same price you bought it from and upgrade from there.

NicheRiding do you think you could’ve started on the zx6r & just takin it slow? I only ask because I really don’t want to buy & resale I rather just get the bike I really want the first time around just curious if it’s a big difference or not you kno?
@NicheRiding

the newer zx6r bikes I know have power modes where each level reduces the amount of power you have which might be a way for you to do it. I will tell you that sport bikes accelerate much faster than standard upright bikes like those Ninja 250/300s will.

I like your grom vids please keep it up! I use mine as a commuter 16km trip to work limit is 70 km so its perfect for me. Service imo is too expensive so I'm attempting all maintenance on my own. I got a squeaky clutch lever but not sure how to fix it..i dont think it's the actual cable but the lever joint? Thanks for the videos

For commuting you want the most powerful bike you can handle. My first bike was suzuki gs500 and it was too slow to get out ofnteouble on freeway. I was almost run over few times

I live in new york city. I cummute everyday from home to work. From the bronx to long island city. But and i just got my permit. Soon im waiting for my liscense to come in the mail than take the msf course once im done. I was thinking should i start of with a grom and use it to commute to work instead of me going in the train station. . I just wonder having a grom be good for me or just a regular sports bike?
@NicheRiding

Totally up to you, you won't zip in and out of traffic at a super fast speed on the Grom but you will save tons of money in gas for sure. You could always buy a used grom and see how you like it and then decide if you want more power or not. The good thing about groms is they hold their value very good!
