I agree. The instructions are lacking quite a bit. My unit came with a protective film for installation. Once completed, I removed it to program the unit to find another very soft, somewhat loose plastic screen the size of the display that was scratched. Your screen, and ones in other videos looks more rigid like a cell phone. If mine is a newer version, I do not care for it, not very responsive to the touch

Really hope someone can help. I can't get mine to show the capacity. I've set it to 200ah which is my batteries capacity but it's showing 'mah' and the figure just keeps increasing. Really hope someone can help me out here!

Best to hook up 12 volt load and drain until Bms shuts it off, then run on lithium charger until full capacity, rest one hour check resting voltage, use that for your charge cutoff parameter, repeat every 3 months, or buy super smart charger and program to only charge to 96-98% and cutoff at 20% , you won’t get full capacity but you will get more charge cycles, going from 100% down to 10-15% will only net about 2000-2500 charge cycles

Before you start setting things in parameters you need to press the RPM button and when finished editing press WPM, that stores the values you set

Update: I muddled through the installation, but now that it's been operating for a few days it disconnects from the hall sensor several times per day. Various fields are flashing. The book doesn't explain. I called customer service and left a message. No reply. Sent an email. No response. This morning I checked and it said the battery bank was at 50% (14k watt/hour capacity) so I started our coffee maker. In 10 minutes the monitor said the charge was suddenly Zero (charge controller said 80%) I can understand a defective unit slipping through. I'm irritated by the manual. But not responding to customer support issues... I'm done. Original post: What poor documentation. How hard is it to provide a glossary of all of the abbreviations?!?

You need to press write the parameters after setting them, or it will not save them.

Unfortunately this is not good described in the manual and on top it is not user friendly and intuitive. The display looks great but everything else needs some re- work in my opinion

According to the display, you have read parateters second from Right, and write parameters second from Left. You can set many alarms, but as you say, it is not very user friendly.@@tobisreallifeskillswithtobi

I wouldnt take the chinglish language issues too seriously, not being able to spell in a foreign language doesnt stop them understanding the universal language of mathematics and electronics. I've had a lot of kit with appalling spelling etc on instructions, all have worked well 👍

Hey man,I think maybe you are missing something, for the first time you connect a battery monitor to your battery, you need to set the correct charge cut-off voltage for the battery if you want to get the correct SOC, for a 12V lithium battery this could be 14.5V; After you set the battery charge cut-off voltage, you should charge your battery to reach this cut-off voltage (14.5V), then the SOC of the battery can be calculated correctly,I hope this helps!

Hi! Thanks for your feedback! I tried to follow the instructions which called out to only configure the blue area. I did play around afterwards and did configure those values as well. For a beginner this was not understandable unfortunately.

have any of you mounted this in the dash of a boat? I'm curious if the screen/membrane stands up yo heat and moisture? It seems silly that values aren't saved on a EPROM.

At 150+ quid for the victron smart shunt and its poorer display/screen, is it fair to expect such levels from a unit that costs 30% of that?!. On top of which, anything from China has Chinglish instructions, best not to expect too much from cheap units from China and then you avoid disappointments. I agree its frustrating but you pays your money and you makes your choices!! At 90 quid saving over victron, you can afford to lose a day working it all out, it's built into your saving costs. I look forward to installing mine now and doing lots of swearing at it 😂✌️

@@tobisreallifeskillswithtobi everything has been fairly painless for a newbie so far, my only gripe is when I changed the systems 30 sec monitor time it junked all my "written" parameters, then on both screens resetting all parameters, it gave all parameters but 0% reading, so i did what any newbie would do, I wiggled terminals, pulled power, swore, plugged back in, and now its running perfectly EXCEPT... Arrow on my hall meter is also in the wrong direction, was classing draw as charge, so not dropping SOC reading, spun the Hall meter through 180°, retopped battery up and started again. Running perfectly so far, took 2 hours with cable running time and recharge time to install, so far I'm impressed!!

It's really nice to be able to set both manufacturers stats and parameters, then also have a secondary level warning, that's useful that is!! All in all for the money, I'm good!!

I would rather go with a shunt... something like a smart shunt. If you want a monitor I feel like this one was working great in the Licitti battery boxes: www.licitti.com/licitti-battery-monitor/ or the Victron Smart shunt would be my favorite.
