I seriously doubt the KUSA claim of having the specifications transferred to them at some point in the past. It doesn't particularly add up with the general Kalashnikov Concern mode of operation, it seems to have conveniently become used as increasingly "technical data package" was made essentially a buzzword like other engineering terms are unfortunately becoming in the gun community (misuse of "tolerancing" is a big one), and the guns took so long to come out from the initial announcement and with things like the furniture issues that just scream to me that they have simply done an excellent job of reverse engineering the 100 series AKs. If they truly had the technical package then it would include the correct formulation for the polymer furniture so that such issues would not happen on such a scale. This isn't to knock KUSA in any sense, the guns seem excellent, and with the gun community as it is I think any company would reasonably come up with a story like they have, but it doesn't take much critical thinking to take it apart.

@@slowbutsure504 it’s soooooo comfortable! Especially compared to the original way to small one. That’s my biggie since half of being accurate is recoil control and the original grip just plain look like you won’t be able to get a good handle and thus, poor recoil control. And the AK platform is not accurate as it is compared to the AR platform. The TD grips is so comfortable that it makes holding and shouldering the AK almost intuitive. There is no way you can grip it wrong and loose control, which is exactly what I wanted.

Howdy, Mischa. I recently picked an SFS model up on trade. When I got it home and unboxed it, it became clear it was not the rifle I'd handled in the shop, and they'd picked it up out of the back. The fitment of the safety and dust cover looked off, so I popped of the cover for a closer look. On the right side of the receiver, one of the rear trunnion rivets had been pressed in so hard it bent the right wing of the rear trunnion in and actually popped the last top rivet out. The reciever was bowed out on both sides at the rear, and neither wing sat in the groove at the top of the rear trunnion. I was pretty flabberghasted. I took it back in the morning and the shop brought out a few for me to look over. All of the rifles had some kind of receiver warping at the end around the top of the rear trunnion. I picked the one with the least amount of bending and took it home. I'll run a thousand rounds through it this weekend and see if the deformation continues. I'm disappointed that any of these 1500 dollar rifles left the factory like this, but I hope KUSA gets their act together. Compare the rear trunnion fit on your saiga to that on your KUSA. Even in the video, it looks like there's a bend at the top of the KUSA rifle from that top rivet. Let me know what you think of all this.
@cottonbo

Mine had the same issue with what looked like an overly pressed rivet that caused one side of the receiver to flare out. Unfortunately I didn’t catch this at the lgs. I have multiple tripods. But consider this, since I'm blind, the only possible way i have to know where the camera is pointing is to have it in my hand. If i am not holding it, i have zero clue. K-USA rifles did not have compensator and Gas Block chrome lined. In any event, it is not that hard to make a perfect clone an AK, when you have blue prints and data packs from Izhmash and have $10Mil to kick start your biz... Oh, you did not think they have reverse engineered Vityaz, Saiga-12 and the 103/104, did you? However, they could not make it in the end. Splurged too much (at Shot Shows and salaries for the execs), too many promises to the consumers, and angering too many of them by not delivering what was promised, and in the end, screwing every single one of their suppliers and even some of their customers (who pre-paid for some of the much desired AK-101/102 and AK-104 rifles). AK consumer market in the USA these days is not doing very well. Pioneer Arms went out of business as well (just a few weeks ago). Who is next(?), CAA, PSA, Arsenal, DDI??? The only good news for us (the consumers) is the appearance of the Russian Standard AK-103 parts kits. If you know someone who can build an AK for you, those are as close to the original as you can wish for...

Sweet! That said, I would prefer a wire side folding stock that is more rugged and can be fully folded even if a side mounted optic is fitted as it folds to the right side of the receiver. I am putting a collapsible stock on anyway. Plus it saved me over $200.00. Carolina Caliber in Greenville , NC has them and Galil 2nd Gen and has Online sales too. I agree if you are looking for a rifle to use during times of no rule of law, but as a recreational shooter, I think its still viable. 7.62 ammo is still cheaper than 5.56 rn, but I suspect it won't be for long. After all of the steel case runs dry, I think more domestic brass 762 will be produced, but it will likely be more expensive than 5.56 for a long time.
