I really appreciate the level of detail, but especially the honesty of all of your reviews. Sadly, I don't think many companies will want to work with you, due to the fact that you're so honest. Phil McKnight has that problem, many companies who work with other youtubers will not provide him with their product, because he won't give positive reviews on things that don't deserve them, nor allow them to preview the videos he makes before posting them. I got a chance to play one of these today. If you're a super-fan of very thin necks, like the Ibanez RG series - you may not like this guitar. But I own an Ibanez AZ prestige model, and this PRS Miles Kennedy felt amazing to me. I really appreciated the feel of the chunky neck. I'm also a fan of the Silver Sky, and love the way it feels and sounds, but this Miles Kennedy model just made its way onto my short list of "must have" guitars. The feel, the sounds, and the quality of the workmanship were pretty stellar imho.

Ya know… I see this thing rolling out all over the web and… I just don’t care… It seems like a great guitar, I’m sure it doesn’t suck. I’m sure lots of working top 40 country acts will get them and use them and when the SE version drops it will be everywhere for cover bands too. But I just can’t get excited about it. The silver sky was kinda cool because of John sort of sticking it to Fender and Paul being collaborative with the artist in doing so… I wasn’t part of the outrage or madness then either. I just don’t really care anymore. There hasn’t been a high end guitar to come out in the last decade that I felt compelled to run out and get my hands on.

I liked the detail you provided with the neck. For me, the feel of the neck is the most important thing and what I pay attention to with reviews. These 2023 prices are out of touch with reality. Not many people could afford a $2000 guitar 3 years ago. My guess is most people still can’t afford $2000 now and $3000 is laughable. Not many consumer products have gone up 33.33…% in 3 years. Not 1 component in that guitar costs 33% more now than it did 3 years ago. I also doubt PRS is paying their employees 33% more. Maybe in 5 years, average yearly wages will increase enough for these 2023 prices? The markups with guitars is out-of-balance with the economy.

As for the haters, I think people seeing a T shape get upset because they expect it to be a “Tele clone” when Myles intended to build a guitar that fits his needs and the shape is only 1 component. Keep up the good work!

I have to give PRS credit, I'm not sure any other manufacturer would be able to nail the aesthetics of a late 70's Peavey so faithfully. Otherwise, I find the sound unremarkable, and in every demo I've heard of this guitar, when the player hits harder, the sound collapses on itself. Compression, but not in a pleasing way, almost like a lack of headroom. Personally I prefer PRS to make PRS style guitars, and I'm not a fan of their recent foray into other classic designs by other companies. In any case, gonna save myself 3k and a bunch of regret and grab myself a Peavey T-60. I mean, if I'm going ugly, I'm going all the way. At least I'll have money left over for the necessary beer goggles.

Also, Tom Anderson has been making modern takes on the Tele forever, and with a trem if you want one. They will build any variation you want, small proprietary hum buckers, full humbuckers, single or stacked single and any combination of, all with the highest quality and modern playability. A wee bit more cash, or similar to less cash used. But, T/A won't make you an ugly guitar.

@@andrefludd 😂😂😂 I know, I’ve seen those types of comments. I know there are people who don’t trust anyone, but what reason would you have to pretend you were sponsored?! Aside from being illegal not to disclose when one gets freebies/samples/trials/other compensation in the US (even down to a free packet of shampoo), it literally doesn’t benefit you when you have to go into debt to review a guitar and don’t even break even at times (I loved that cost-analysis video, btw). I’ve tried coming up with a single logical reason that people should not trust that you purchased the guitars yourself without having to “prove it” with a receipt. Beats me! Well, I for one, have never doubted your honesty. I also hope Sweetwater will spot your channel and be willing to sponsor you. Have you ever tried reaching out to them to find out what it would take to get a full sponsorship or even just loaner gear for reviews? I bet that would be an interesting video. It doesn’t have to be with Sweetwater - maybe other retailers would be willing to help you out? I have heard other KZitemrs report great working relationships with the likes of AMS, Zzounds, Guitar Center, StewMac, Thomann (I have seen Americans partnering with them because the audience can buy from the US and there’s a nice amount of European viewers) - even Amazon. Others have said they work directly with guitar brands. I have even seen some high quality, relatively newer/smaller channels partner wish smaller mom and pop shops which helps drum up business for a local shop. That being said, there are tons of perks to partnering with Sweetwater, however they are not the end all and be all. Many KZitemrs, both established and fairly new, have professional relationships with multiple companies at once - Phil McKnight is one of many that comes to mind who gets sponsored by Sweetwater, AMS, StewMac, and several others, in addition to also partnering with individual guitar brands. Perhaps the subject of trying to partner with companies could make for an interesting video and long term ongoing experiment. It would not only benefit the channel, but those who may be interested in doing so for their own channel. It helps to know what to realistically expect before, during, and after trying to successfully establish partnerships and sponsorships. Even for those of us without a channel, it would be very interesting to understand what it takes to establish and keep a working relationship thriving with retailers and brands. I have done product beta testing and reviewing voluntarily as a hobby of sorts for 25 years (since I was in the 11th grade, 😂 ) because it benefits consumers to ultimately end up with a much better product thanks to my input regarding the design and uncovering issues the designers/engineers often miss. The most difficult part is not doing the actual beta testing/reviewing, but the amount of time and effort it takes to reach out to brands to establish a relationship and trust where they’d want to provide me with access into their IP during vulnerable stages of product development and pre-production (NDA’s are an integral piece - I am upfront about my willingness to sign one), communicate with each brand and/or retailer through the process with documented photos and videos, etc. I’d imagine it’s similarly a ton of work to build trust and score/maintain partnerships where guitars. Would be insightful and interesting to document the quest of making KZitem monetarily sustainable and successful. I’ve never seen anyone in the guitar community do any such series. It would be a great addition to the video about your purchases and finances. 😊

If I had the money, this would have probably been my perfect guitar as a 15 year old who loved Iron Maiden and Metallica but was also into bands like Cinderella, and really any artist who could play lead guitar really well. But once again my first impression with a PRS is … they are so UGLY! I’m sure their aesthetics will grow on me over time and I know they are well made but they initially have no sex appeal. This is entirely subjective, but every PRS has a dorky, guitar Dad quality aesthetically. Taken individually the components are cool, together they emanate a soulless vibe.

I like that you got your hands on one; I am certain it will be examined as any other instrument. I've stated my position on PRS and avoid content with their products, but objectively I thought this was not only one of the ugliest T-type to ever surface but one of the ugliest production guitars in general, again, ever. This instrument had no reason to be created save that it's a signature model and the company didn't have a T-type single cut offered yet; literally the definition of doing something just because you can. I usually don't expound on PRS because eventually they'll hear it from customers; skeletons don't hide forever these days. That being said, this thing was just so visually...inelegant...I somehow got a little triggered. The human rights part aside (ugh), it would have to play amazingly for me to even consider desiring it and even at that it would also have to have features or something I wanted that no other guitar could offer, which aside from functional patents like the trapezoidal neck on Strandbergs, doesn't exist as a matter of practicality. I decided I'm watching this video after all because I plopped all this opinion here so if someone actually takes the time to read it they deserve to have the algorithm fed. I'm also curious af and I haven't watched a PRS video in a long time, from anyone, so you broke my streak (it's okay) I'm not worried my opinion will change, I just don't like to support PRS in the algorithm, in general; your eyeballs are your wallet here. But quality content creators need the algo fed; facts. Thanks for another well crafted and informational video.

I have a cheap Squire telecaster that plays as good and sounds as good as my friends Fender Tele that was 5 to 6 times the price of mine. So yes, more often than not you are paying a premium for the name and not necessarily for the sound and playability of an instrument vs a less expensive instrument. Being brand myopic is often a luxury afforded mostly for snobs and people with lots of expendable cash to spend. Furthermore, so-called "signature" model guitars are especially notorious for giving manufacturers an excuse to jack up an instruments price without offering any real substantial benefit to the customer other than having a different logo on the headstock indicating that the guitar is a "signature" model. I also find it ironic that most of these signature guitars aren't even actually "signed" by the guitar celebrity for whom they are named.

As good as many influencers are saying how these guitars play I just wouldn't spend over 2000 on something that ugly...

Get the Charvel So-Cal tele instead. 1/3 of the price, more features, and all-around better looking.

Nice review. I would personally never pay that amount of money for a Tele style guitar, but I also don't really feel that it's a traditional tele either. There can be some comparisons made like you mentioned, but at the end of the day it is a morphed tele "style" guitar. On a side note, I don't think these guitars look pretty either.

Thank you for another in-depth review! You're awesome. The problem with this guitar is that the Ibanez Prestige AZS series exists, their take on a Tele-style guitar. For $2k new ($1000 less than this), you get stainless steel frets, a roasted maple neck and the modern sound capabilities thanks to the dyna-mix sound switching system. And you even bring that guitar up at the end of the video! I'd like to see you try one. Maybe you can contact sweetwater and ask if you can get a loaner guitar to try in exchange for a plug?

I wish Ibanez would adopt a switching system similar to PRS though. I’ve thought about that tele but the alter switch is just so clunky vs a 5 way, and there’s no coil split on the neck!

Nice guitars! Japan beats USA most of the time. I think Ibañez/ Hoshino Gakki will only get more expensive and even better.
