my partner saw me looking at this or the rp4 and knew i was leaning towards this because i LOOOOVE my PSVita. Needless to say, she is amazing, and so is this device. It's the portable PS2 kid me always wanted but it does soo soo much more. Not doing Switch emulation because it's drain on the battery doesn't seem worth it to me, but PS2, Dreamcast, and Gamecube are so great.

Think you nailed it as to what the draw is for this device at the end. It's unique and special. I was all in on the RP4P as the device to get as it's the best price for performance device on the market. But then I got my hands on the Odin 2 Mini and have just been blown away. The buttons, screen, overall feel of it is just so premium. It really feels like I'm holding a first-party console. The price is steep, but I think for those that have extra money to burn, they'll find it well worth it once it's in their hands.

Glad you’re enjoying it. For me, the Odin 2 (and mini if you want the portability) are worth it over the RP4+ as it allows us to just play and not worry about speed hacks, PAL versions, etc. As you say, there’s enough power today and wait for the emulators to catch up. Great to the point video. Oh, and you can ditch Yabasanshiro on this and use the amazing Saturn Beetle core (RA) as the Odin 2/mini is fully compatible and has enough power.

At first the stock woes and the price led me to the Razer Edge, which was down to $250. The Edge was fine at best, I didn't like how loose the tablet was in the controller, and there were some PS2 games that I couldn't run in NetherSX2. On top of that, it was just so much wider as a whole for not any real benefit. Those reasons and the fact that I fell back in love with my Vita this summer led me to order the Odin 2 Mini and return the Edge. I opted for the base model as I'm not planning on using Winlator on the device (I had an ASUS ROG Ally and sold it), and I am truly in love with it. Battery standby is excellent. The d-pad for fighting games is superb (Tekken 5, DragonBall Z Budokai, Soul Calibur 3), it plays every PS2 game I have in my library at 3x with flying colors (looking at you, Hot Shots Golf), Fall Guys which released on Android at the best possible time runs maxed out at 60 fps with very seldom slowdowns depending on the course, Warzone Mobile feels like the actual console experience with how smooth it runs coupled with the excellent analog sticks and shoulder inputs, and the ergonomics really feel like a more comfortable version of the Vita. If not for Vita emulation still leaving quite a bit to be desired, I'd have retired the Vita in favor of the Odin 2 Mini, but alas I use them both in synergy. Is it pricier for the Android handheld market? Yes. Are you getting as potent a chipset that's currently available in perhaps the smallest body it's been put in? Also yes. The Odin 2 Mini harkens back to the days of compact flagships being as powerful as their bigger siblings and offering the same experience in a smaller package should you choose to. Once these are available on Amazon like the larger Odin 2, I can see this taking a good chunk of sales from the larger Odin 2 and even the Retroid Pocket 4 because you do get more for the premium price if that's what you're more concerned with.
@breachless5320

The price put me off too at first... but then I realized if I just jump straight to the top, I will stop buying other devices in search of that "perfect" device... for awhile at least. Now I just have the Odin 2 Mini Pro and my little Miyoo a30, and I couldn't be happier. All my bases are covered. Plus with Winlator making huge gains week after week, it's kind of starting to edge its way into Steamdeck territory. Before anyone gets all worked up, no, it is not a Steamdeck replacement. It's just cool that such a tiny little device can run a surprisingly large list of PC games too. I mean, Jedi Fallen Order. On a device that fits in my pocket... amazing. What a time to be alive.

I mostly play android games (zenless, hsr, etc) and some ps1 games and i found that for my use case, thr rp4p is more than enough. The biggest pull i have to even consider the odin 2 mini is the analog stick placement, but the grip of thr rp4p helps a lot with that and i might even prefer it, the more i look at the odin 2 mini's form factor (that empty palm space might be concerning for longer playsessions) I dont think its worth the premium upcharge when the rp4p seems to be playing my android games perfectly fine already. Thanks for showing that to me today, since you mostly tested it on games that the rp4p already struggles with. 😂

This is more of a "general review in light of the Retroid" I would like to do a dedicated comparison. Personally I never really am bothered by a Joystick vs dpad centric layout. For 3DS I prefer the joystick up top. The bigger screen is subtle but noticeable, but I enjoy both screens equally. Without the grip, as you may know I still love the Retroid's feeling in hand. I find the Mini is quite a different way to hold a device to the Retroid, but now that I've been using it a while it's such a lovely handheld that doesn't need a grip.
