@Marcus Anthony We are called to Love our Neighbor and to Love ourselves just as Christ has loved us. However, the context of Mike's comment is concerning exalting SELF and selfish desires above God and his word. @stevenmilner2752

However, using a Scripture in Revelation and applying it to the entire Bible is problematic. Bc either one of two things happened. 1) The context of what you are saying applies to only Revelation and the prophecies contained within (since it was written as stand alone and wasnt put into a combined work until much later). Or 2) The people who put the books/letters together of the Bible added it to apply to the entire Bible thus violating what they put in. Saying that. There are other places where the same premise is conveyed. But you might argue context there too (Deut, Prov). Still shouldn't add to it.
@jaquirox6579

@@stevenmilner2752 Exactly! This particular person had such an extreme perspective. She literally believed that Revelation was 100% proof for Christians to do all the Gnostic and Mystic type things, like an unlimited license to practice anything that direction. And she said that she attended a 6 week workshop at iHop, that taught her all about this exact info. I was so dumbfounded by the claims because I’ve never heard anything so blatant and extreme, and absolutely wrong in such an obvious way! I read Revelation the following week, beginning to end, as it was next in my reading anyways. And reading it in full context, in order, I struggled to see how any Christian could read that as a prescription for our everyday life. It’s clearly a description of a major detailed event, that was divinely revealed for the purpose of the Canaan. At least that was my non scholarly laymen’s understanding, just reading it on my own.

I also wanted to add something. I mean its absolutely clear any serious christian who is devoted to Gods Word, should stay away from this ridiculous book, but to add to more reasons why you should. Just watch the Brian Simmons interview on the Sid Roth show, where he claims to have visited the library in heaven, and met with Jesus face to face. @@bassrocks27 1) The 12 Apostles were appointed by God himself, in person, and did many exceptional things that only they could do. 2) It’s a closed Cannon. God says so. 3) numerous scriptures discuss what to do with anyone who comes forward claiming God told them something. And none of it tells us to reopen the cannon. 4) To compare any man today, to any of the 12 Apostles that walked with Jesus.... that’s very very arrogant and self inflated. And I think someone who demonstrates that bad character, falls into many others sins right away. (Technically 13 Apostles of course) I hope this helps.

@Dean Agnor Literally, that is exactly what many MANY “prophets” are claiming, and at numerous “churches”. They even rewrote a new Bible “translation” to support their very broken theology, and heresies. And I didn’t come here to debate or argue. I was trying to answer an unanswered question someone else asked. So I did just that. Very simply, and shortly, and in a way that anyone can understand. If you’re looking for a debate with someone, I’m not it. But I assure you, many many large church names and people, literally claim they are speaking for God, as if it’s to be taken as Cannon. Go a head and look into that yourself.

"TPT does not compromise the Gospel"...18:22 mark .... my concern is that yes, from an acute observation it may not, but one could say that where there are a twisting of scripture, it could lead a person down a place where their understanding of the Gospel is askew and compromised. Look at Paul's letters to Corinth and Galatia. They were given the Gospel of Christ, but "ear tickling", bewitching, division, whatever - turned into full blown perversion of God's word, and we seek that in our flesh as spoken about in 2 Timothy. We seek speakers that fit this notion. We love ourselves, and we do not put up with sound doctrine. I told my church, if point a marble towards a particular destination, I want to make sure that its path stays straight. If I shift it's direction in the slightest way, as that marble travels further and further down its path it goes further and further away from its intended mark. So something so slight at first can lead to complete "miss" in the long run.

He has no qualifications in Hebrew, Greek or Aramaeic and does not speak or read these languages. How is that a translation. Oh, he also misleads and infered the opposite of all these things and straight out lied about his experience with the paya kuna project. How is this man worthy to translate ANYTHING let alone claim he was given the task by Jesus Himself and led by the Holy Spirit while doing it ? I’d much rather watch someone who carefully and lovingly presents truth rather than tiptoes and around error because they have friends or endorsements riding on false unity. I really want to encourage you both to defend the faith from the understanding of how destructive deception is. Many people don’t have theological degrees or the maturity to test but trust pastors and teachers like yourselves with credentials in “good faith”. Sometimes a sharp rebuke in love is needed when there is blatant error and people are being lead astray away from the truth of God - see Matthew 23. I’m just visiting here because of Mike. Just listening to this as I'm a fan of Remnant Radio. Mike criticism is 1. TPT is the work of one man. But so is the JB Philips translation, the Darby Bible, Youngs Literal Translation. So moot. 2. Douglas Moo isn't a good authority on the Greek in Romans as he fails in his debate with Dr.Gordon Fee on Romans 8:26 in Moos attempt to evade the case for tounges being refered. The verse is so clear that a student of NT Wright is doing a PhD on it. Moo seeks to bring his tradition to bear on it. I just mean he's not a good authority. *I think Mike Wingers primary objection to the TPT has nothing to do with the objections. Mike needs to come clean and just say he doesn't like it BECAUSE the translator Simmons claimed to be told to do it because a visitation from an angel. And that's it.. Mike you'd be more honest if you just approached it as a discernment issue over prophecy. It needs to be tested scripurally. As in Acts 23:9 "Then a great clamor arose, and some of the scribes of the Pharisees’ party stood up and contended sharply, “We find nothing wrong in this man. What if a spirit or an angel spoke to him?”.. if an angel (from God) actually told Simmons to do the Passion then the rest follows. And if Simmons is lying or an angel (Not from God) told Jim the rest follows. That's Mike's real issue and he needs to approach it that way. You cannot test the claim the other ways. 3. The Aramaic objection isn't strong. Leon Morris (in his classic John commentary) used the same argument for seeing the term in John 3 "born again" as " born from above" from the Aramaic. Morris argues that the Greek word has a double meaning of "born again.a new" and "born from above" and John may have been playing on that double meaning. But since Jesus was speaking to Nicodemus in Aramaic, which doesnt have that double meaning, Jesus himself was probably said "born from above" . If a great scholar like Leon Morris used that way... how can it be a big problem. The scholars brought into to object the translation aren't active within the "Spirit-filled" ministry . Just holding a continuationist position doesn't make you charismatic, and many who are "tounges speakers" aren't moving actively in Spirit-filled" ministry. You cannot object just because it supports "word of faith" teaching...rather you have to examine if the Greek actually supports it. I'd see the TPT as similar to THE MESSAGE. I dont use the NIV .especially the old one for the same reason you dont use the Passion. The NIV does the same with inconsistent translations of words. I'd not use the Passion for study

While I am no advocate of the PT, I am cautious of throwing out a translation purely on the grounds of it being the work of one translator. If that was the case, we would say so long to Jerome’s Vulgate, Tyndale’s English Bible, and Robert Alter’s Tanahk (granted, as a Hebraic scholar, he only translated the OT, but the point remains). The faith has historically been upheld by committees AND individuals who translated the Scriptures. I would agree that a team of scholars is preferable to a lone translator in general, but I think it’s pushing it to say that this must be a rule. Again, I have major issues with the PT-it being the product of Simmons alone is not one of them.

Yes I want to know that also, I've read it for years and have always loved it. I know that it follows closely to KJV only with expanded words to include more adjectives etc for what the original languages mean.

Why don’t you revue all the corrupt modern versions? The Lord warned us not to change His Word. Not to add unto it, nor take away from it. Check 1 Peter 2:9 in your “favorite” version and see if it’s not a racist translation. There’s no place for racism in God’s Word. “But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:” 1 Peter 2:9 KJV vs “But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.” 1 Peter 2:9 ESV and most others.

The King James is perfect. It is Holy and Pure, and has been for over four hundred years. An attack on the King James is an attack on the very Word of God. If you think that English is just another language invented by man, you are blind. The Lord gave us all languages at the Tower of Babel. He is the inventor of languages. He is the very Word of God. He warned us not to change His Word for a reason. The opening of this door has sown nothing but confusion in the church. Is the JW Bible Holy? Is the Joseph Smith Bible Holy? Is the “message” Holy? Is the Catholic Bible Holy? The apocrypha? The NIV??!!! There is no end of these distortions. It has been the enemy himself who has initiated this attack on God’s Word with the motivation of greed. Filthy lucre! The Lord says in His Word, “trust not in man”. “The Holy Spirit will teach you all things”. But we have allowed man to make the Bible say what he wants. We rely on man to “make it easy” for us to understand. It is the perfect Word of God that changes men’s hearts. If you deny the work of God that the King James Bible has done, you are denying the very work of God. And to be clear, this is not about salvation. You only need one Word to be saved, the name above all names, Jesus, THE WORD! So I’m not saying you are not saved if you are reading from one of these corrupted Bibles. But you are grieving the Holy Spirit. You are playing into the hands of the devil. You are participating in the corruption and confusion of the church. You are not going in the power of the Holy Spirit. And you are bringing the judgements of God as written in the book of Revelation. The Word of God is so much more complex than our minds can comprehend. It is a living word. And our native tongue is not Greek. It is not Hebrew. It is not Aramaic. It is English!! And we have had great influence on the entire world, and not for good. We have become the harlot of Revelation, going astray from our first love. If you cannot trust the Word of God, The Truth, you have nothing. We have gone down such a slippery slope, and we have fallen off a cliff. The problems of this nation, the problems of the church, the problems of the world can all be traced back to us defiling the Word of God. Judgement is coming, and it will begin at the house of God. America is the house of God. But she has become Babylon the Great, and is ruled by Satan himself now. She will be utterly destroyed, burned with fire, and made an ensample of to the rest of the world. The words of God are true, they are pure, and they will come to fruition just as God has declared. The reason there is so much confusion and false doctrine and inability to discern prophecy correctly is because we have corrupted the very Word of God and trusted in man to tell us what God has said. Without the Holy Spirit, you cannot comprehend the Word of God. We have not recognized and honored what is Holy. The Lord is patient, and not willing that any should perish, but that all will come to repentance and be saved, but His patience will come to an end. It is running out. And He will do what He said He will do. Our only hope is in the mercy of God. Our only hope is in Christ Jesus. Come Lord Jesus, even so, come. “And Babylon shall become heaps, a dwellingplace for dragons, an astonishment, and an hissing, without an inhabitant. How is Sheshach taken! and how is the praise of the whole earth surprised! how is Babylon become an astonishment among the nations!” Jeremiah 51:37, 41 KJV “How much she hath glorified herself, and lived deliciously, so much torment and sorrow give her: for she saith in her heart, I sit a queen, and am no widow, and shall see no sorrow. Therefore shall her plagues come in one day, death, and mourning, and famine; and she shall be utterly burned with fire: for strong is the Lord God who judgeth her. Standing afar off for the fear of her torment, saying, Alas, alas, that great city Babylon, that mighty city! for in one hour is thy judgment come. And saying, Alas, alas, that great city, that was clothed in fine linen, and purple, and scarlet, and decked with gold, and precious stones, and pearls! For in one hour so great riches is come to nought. And every shipmaster, and all the company in ships, and sailors, and as many as trade by sea, stood afar off, And cried when they saw the smoke of her burning, saying, What city is like unto this great city! And they cast dust on their heads, and cried, weeping and wailing, saying, Alas, alas, that great city, wherein were made rich all that had ships in the sea by reason of her costliness! for in one hour is she made desolate. And a mighty angel took up a stone like a great millstone, and cast it into the sea, saying, Thus with violence shall that great city Babylon be thrown down, and shall be found no more at all.” Revelation 18:7-8, 10, 16-19, 21 KJV www.bible.com/1/rev.18.7-8,10,16-19,21.kjv

Mike Winger is not handling his recent popularity well. It's going to his head. I'll be praying for him. It's so hard to be in the spot light. Temptation always comes for these people and unfortunately Mike Winger's passions are being turned against him. We need so much discernment to live this life well and to not get swept up in the world. Here Mike says he is part of the pentecostal movement yet he reflects like a Baptist. we all have our part but he is confused. I hope he humbles himself quickly.

I’m not quite sure what you’re getting at. Are you saying that you believe Pastor Mike has misclassified himself and so he is prideful? Or Pastor Mike is reflecting like a baptist and so he is prideful? We all battle with pride, but we should be slow to call someone else out on the issue-especially publicly-unless there is concrete evidence, lest we let our own pride cause us to spread gossip about a brother in Christ.

I think we all have fear of pride. I am sure the Lord will humble him if he needs to be. We however need to take the good God is doing trough him and humble ourselves and remember that he is still a man with faults and we need to pray and encourage. I do not see him being different, let say you are right... email him and talk to him not about him, it is not helpful, you look mean, and I do not think this is what you want to achieve :) They respond very well to email. Let's remember we are all still sinners and growing. Much love Sister ♡
