The Roscoe 9 is a nicely equipped bike. it will do 90% of anything a rider wants to do. Most people are not racing...rather, they want a versatile bike for trails and climbing and descending.

Went to shop today & cannot make up my mind between Roscoe 7 vs Marlin 7 Gen 2 both in XS frame. Loved the Roscoe 7 weight & maneuverability & nimbleness. Gonna upgrade the tires to Marlin 7 to tubeless but still now sure which to get. Doing trails with lots of roots etc. just concern about when I straddle the Roscoe my crotch is right at it but with Marlin 7 gen 2 I have a slight clearance flat foot with shoes. What to do? Any advice for this older woman getting back into mountain bike after 15 years. I used to have a Specialized Stump Jumper Comp from 1999.

This is a great question, Lisa, and I appreciate you asking. The Roscoe is a great bike with a ridiculous amount of potential, and I would be inclined to recommend it over the Marlin. However, ergonomics and fit are very important, and clearance is always a good thing. So, if you were to come into the shop, the real question I would ask you is which bike you feel better on? That being said, I restored an old Stumpjumper, turned it into a gravel bike/canal cruiser, and when I dismount, I have zero room to give. I've never had an issue, though. I hope this answer is helpful for you, Lisa. Thanks again for watching, and keep us posted on what you end up going with.

Debating buying this as first bike , test drove today. 1600 was the price and seems like reasonable price now .

$1600 for the 7 is a good deal. I still think about getting the 9, but I already own a Timberjack, so it's hard to justify. Let us know what you decide, and thank you for watching.

You should be able to get a 23 8 for around that now. Make sure you get sized properly, I bought ml and think I should have went Medium. Take your time and deal with a patient shop. I do think the beefier fork on 8 is worth it. You’ll own for a while and skills will take you to more and more intense downhill. The fork alone on 8 is worth 500, or was.

I’ve been looking at this as an upgrade from a Marlin 7(2019) which is good on climbs but not so much on downhills and jumps are out of the question. I see that this is a “rowdier” hardtail but how is this on climbs? Will I have to hike a bike? PS: I like the Miami green with the black spatters. It looks more “alpine” in pictures than the Miami Vice color scheme.

Yeah, some of the color schemes are not represented well. Thanks for taking the time to watch and ask your question. Both are appreciated. My only experience is with the Roscoe 9, though I imagine it is similar. I had no issues with climbing other than extreme grades and or terrain. That being said, I do not feel you'll be disappointed. I hope this answer is helpful to you.

Hey man I know your comment is old but I too had an orange 2019 marlin 7 and now have a 2023 roscoe 7. From my experience the roscoe annihilates the marlin in performance. It climbs hills easier, it's more stable through corners and over roots, logs and jumps. Shifts smoother and seems to be WAY more solidly built as my marlin had dented wheels, creaks everywhere and paint chips where the roscoe 7 is still going like a brand new bike on the same trails. The only gripes I have are the recon fork does have a lot of stiction and the dropper post doesn't come up too high. Aside from that I highly recommend the roscoe. I also had a 2020 specialized fuse that was amazing too but I definitely prefer the roscoe.

I got a Marlin 7 during Covid 2022 and it was fine… I didn’t have a lot of options around me to get a bike at that time as I’m sure you understand. Then I quickly realized it wasn’t as good as I wanted (pretty obvious), so I upgraded in April to a 2023 Roscoe 7 in Miami green! Absolutely LOVE this bike!!!! The colour is even nicer in person, plus it has a better front shock, 12 speeds instead of 10, tubeless tires and a dropper post! Plus I got it on sale, major bonus. 🇨🇦

I wanted to get the Roscoe 6 bc I'm a beginner and not even sure how often I would ride. I'm incredibly scared of wildlife. But the 6 was sold out. So now I noticed that Trek has a sale. The 7 is 1.4k, the 8 is 1.6k. That's over my budget though. You have any advice what I should get?
@GetOutArizona

This is a great question. The Roscoe 6 is definitely a sweet spot for the line. However, the Roscoe 8 is a ridiculously good bike you will enjoy for many years. You will have zero issues besides regular maintenance and replacing worn parts. I know that budgets are important, and I would never tell anyone to overspend. However, in this case, I believe the extra dollar will increase your bike investment's longevity. I hope this answer is helpful for you. Thank you for watching.

I believe it's a great entry-level, hardtail bike that is suited for all riders. And with the newer version adding a dropper post and a few more extra, it can't be beaten. Thank you for watching, my friend, and asking your question.
