I've said it plenty of times in the past, but I think we ought to have a rule like in Germany, where misleading headlines have to be corrected just as prominently. E.g. if a paper makes a false claim on the front page, then they should be forced to make an apology for misleading people on the front page of their next paper, in the same size text, taking up the same amount of the page!

Look for most people it's not whether "Labour are just as bad as the Tories"- of course they're not! The question is: are Labour good enough to restore public faith in mainstream politics? Because if they're not we're going to get bloody Reform, or something worse. There is a double standard, and there probably should be, right? The whole point of Labour is to meet higher standards of honesty, decency and fairness than the Tories. The gifts accepted were within the rules and nothing like the level of corruption we saw with the Tories. They still call in to question Labour's independence from undue influence. As another example, none of the Labour front bench should be accepting donations from private health firms, because the reputational cost is just way too high. Starmer needs to start worrying about this stuff as much as he worried about anti-semitism.

He gets on to Boris. I will sort it says BJ. A quick minor reshuffle suddenly sees Nads in the Culture Sec. gig. The same day she got the gig, the preservation order is annulled and, almost if he knew, TM had the bulldozers etc ready and 24 hours later it was no more, before the locals had got wind, could appeal etc etc. Who annulls preservation/listed status orders? Why, the Culture Sec! Am sure all done above board and not in a 'I will give you the gig if you sign this first thing' way!

@@JerryCans101 You mean the three day claim made by Mark Millie, then attributed to Putin by CNN. You'll never find any direct quote from Putin, or one where he says he'll "invade Europe". Another load of BS. Don't worry though, it'll all be over by January and you can suck up the next narrative they spin you. Saddam still has weapons of mass destruction you know 🤣🤣🤣🤣

There is nothing more arrogant than a patronising tone...Still, wait till the left find out St Jezza (abolish the Lords) Corbyn, nominated someone...as he was entitled to do as Lab leader, who coincidentally had just done an internal review/report into AS in the party and gave a different conclusion to the external report....and they took the ermine and tax payers cash for 6 years and counting now. Not for me to say if it was a 'you do this and I will give you that' or just a 'thank you' but next to a few free suits and specs (cost to the tax payer zero) it stinks to high heaven... And cue yeah but no butisms ...

I complained to the BBC about Kuennsbergs interview with Starmer. Where she stated that questions are now being asked about how long Labour can keep blaming the Tories for the NHS. It was a deeply and clearly biased statement as no reasonable person would expect problems 14 years in the making could be sorted in 2 months. The BBC responded saying that the believe it is objective and impartial. Wow. So because they say it is, even when it's evidentially not, thats fine.

Social media is even worse. Lies, lies, and more lies.
A serious consequence of such media dishonesty is that I as a Labour activist find that when I go out canvasing I get abuse. My safety is compromised.

Yes. Violence against the victims of media lies is a serious threat, as seen in the recent riots. It is then opportunistically exacerbated when MPs use devious, manipulative language.

I always remember an article I read once about Peppa Pig being banned in Australia. If you read the article, it turned out that only one episode of Peppa Pig had been banned. It was an episode where Peppa learned how spiders are harmless, and not to be feared... Yeah, if I were the Australian PM, I'd have banned that episode, too.

Now correct me if I'm wrong 😬. But I can remember pretty clearly in the Corbyn years that the people now crowding round Starmer were more than happy to drip venom to the press about the labour leadership then. So don't expect sympathy now. The only way to deal with the press is to be consistent. If they're the enemy treat them as the enemy.

Now that the Tories are out of power they do not know how to handle the situation, they have for almost a generation thrown the mud in one direction and now its coming right back in their faces, and they cannot believe this is happening. Getting the Tories out has been like a "breath of fresh air" for our country.

People really need to wrap their heads around this concept. Conflicts of interest are bad. I hand you ten grand in cash, that's a conflict of interest. I hand you ten grand equivalent in goods? That's still a conflict of interest. You know what happens at my job if someone *Offers* me something worth a value of 50 euro or more? I can lose it if I don't report the *Offering* because I work in a financial institution and conflicts of interest are bad. You know what makes them really bad? They erode trust in me and the institution I am part of even if I don't take the money or good offered this could still be *Perceived* as a conflict of interest by people who deal with the place I work. The idea this man is handed 100,000 grand from a catalogue of people who would like to have the PM think of them positively is fine because it's "Within the rules" is, at best, the thinking of an infant. At worst it is people deliberately trying to cast the malfeasance of a man, who is historically a liar, also not really caring if he is publicly viewed as always ready for a hand out as something to not think about. This is a trash take and I am disappointed you are fine with this Phil.

100% correct, the mere acceptance of any gift implies a" tacit "agreement of some thing that however nebulous is understood. This is the thin wedge of corruption , and therein leads to a loss of confidence in any sort of public construct, be it finance or governmental.

Phil old chap was there anything even just one line about press reform in Labour's manifesto? Why are you dribbling on about it as its not one of Mr "give me a nice suit" Starmer's priorities. Starmer got his easy ride in the lead up to the election after his cosy dinner with Murdoch and now its business as usual and you revise the story and spin it however you like press reform is not going to happen not while yer boy Starmer is running the show. A sceptical man might think all this was a lovely dead cat to steer people away from the real story the forth coming budget and not start asking what is coming our way in that I mean after Spaffer's many thousands in "gifts" the media want to highlight this pee in the ocean seems a bit convenient to me.
