Well,Xi has openly targeted west in China as the enemy for a while..way before US saw China as an enemy.. In fact former japanese prime minister Shizo Abbe was the first leader who first saw the danger China poses as it returns to more of a centralize control communist past and started the QUAD to contain China and coin the phrase "open and free Indo pacific," that had since become US policy..I don't know what to say other than that unless you speak Chinese and understand what goes on inside of China from Taiwanse and Chinese ex- pats who have the best understanding and intereaction with China itself, it is hard to understand the danger Xi and its system poses.

Is Taiwanese Pres Tsai Ing-wen transiting in the US or was she invited? Is Guatemala, such a poor country that important for her to visit? Wouldn't it be more logical to expect the President of Guatemala to visit Taiwan, a rich country instead? Why is she meeting up with Kevin McCarthy, the House Speaker and third ranking officer in the US government? Isn't this a clear breach of the One China Policy? And also, why is the US sending more and more arms to Taiwan? Again with total disregard for the One China Policy? Biden even publicly said on numerous occasions the US will defend Taiwan militarily if China were to take over by force? But then again, the One China Policy is very implicit that Taiwan is part of China sovereign territory? You consider those examples quite conciliatory? Seriously? It is common knowledge the US intends to start a war with China as it is convinced this is the only way to destroy China's economic rise which is becoming increasingly a threat to its world hegemony....Why is there a need to pretend? The whole world knows that... Tsai Ing-wen DPP will lose the election come 2024...She is already a spent force as she is not longer the party leader...Increasingly the Taiwanese are wary of the DPP and US intention of making Taiwan another Ukraine...The US really need a lot of skill to pull off another stunt like what it did in Ukraine?

If he wasn't going to be the Ambassador, I think he would have been more critical of the west trying to "contain" China. Kevin understands China better than most western politicians, and generally he was more critical of the west, but now his upcoming role as Ambassador is skewing his opinions more towards the western politics, he is preparing for his new role, and doesn't want to be looked upon as too friendly towards China.
