Either LTT or Shortcircuit but I would love to see a showdown of a bunch of different hybrid smartwatches. I know of 3 brands doing them, maybe there are more but it would be really nice to see. From what I know it would be between Garmin, Withings and Fossil and of course not sponsored by any of them to get proper reviews. I used to use Pebble but those of course are not made anymore and I hate all new normal smart watches and their one maybe two day battery life so would really like to see the pros and cons of all the different hybrid watches to see what ones are the best. Personally using a Fossil hybrid now but am considering a withings or garmin as my next to get a bit more "smart" features and also the fossil app feels a bit clunky, connectivity/syncing is rough at times. Still like my watch in a world of black square watches that don't hardly function as watches I get many compliments on my watch while still getting notification info, music control and step counts.

I actually bought this watch recently after i developed more serious issues with my heart on top of the issues i already have. I'm 28 and I was born with a rare heart defect that basically left me with half of a heart, and another defect that affected blood flow to my lungs to pick up oxygen. So having a medically validated ECG and oximeter on my wrist while disguised as a normal watch was pretty much what i was looking for. My biggest criticism is that the heart rate gets confused if you are doing any sort of weight lifting which is super minor but if that matters to you, might be a deal breaker. Cardio was pretty decent though. (yeah i know dude with heart issues weight lifting? i got the ok from my cardiologist with reasonable weight restrictions)

@@litapd311 the ECG is immediate. You let the watch run for 30 seconds (can’t move etc.) and it tells you if you have a regular heart beat right away. It can also run automatically while you sleep. This is less exact of a reading, I believe, but it detects arrhythmias without you having to do anything. I was made aware of an arrhythmia because the app would send me notifications in the mornings, telling me my heart beat was irregular during the night. Really nifty and medically accurate enough to warrant seeing a doctor.

Well not much to compare tbh. An apple watch (especially the LTE) versions are more like small smartphones rather then watches. Battery life on this is better obviously. But due to the small screen size and lack of touch screen functionality, the Apple watch can be considered more feature rich. They both come with the same suit of sensors, with both being clinically validated, so there should be no difference there. The Scanwatch is more of a classic watch with some smart features, while the Apple watch is what most would consider an actual smart watch. I personally prefer the Withings rather than an Apple watch, as I just don't see myself being all that more productive with the availability of a small touch screen, while the battery life in it self is a huge plus. The screen on the Withings shows notifications, caller ID and some small info like weather. What you should get depends on your use case and preferences

In essential it turns off most of the smartwatch features, but it still does heartrate tracking, sleep tracking, etc. They managed to get such "good" (compared to pretty much every other smartwatch) battery life by running two displays. I had the regular scanwatch and while I love the concept it's just not there yet. Sleep tracking doesn't know if you're asleep or just in bed. I read a long time in bed before sleeping, or if I've woken up stressed and can't sleep... it would always say great sleep of 9 solid hours. I also think the display is a bad shape and just too small to understand notifications as they scroll. An oval shape would be much better. Then the back started falling off. They offered a replacement but I didn't bother.

With the confirmation of the Pixel watch (and being an avid member of the Google ecosystem) I'm hoping that it comes with the upgrades we expect. I've never owned a high-end smart watch and I hope to get into it sometime soon

Google really has a chance here to set an example, a new benchmark, of what a smartwatch should be. I've not bitten the bullet yet because every watch available seems like some compromise.
@propersod2390

The pixel watch is garbage. It's already confirmed to have a 4 year old (or 6?) chip. It also is quite tiny so don't expect good battery life. I'm gonna straight away assume it doesn't have many health features either. If you want an android smartwatch that's good then get a samsung one. Stop relying on google for anything - they're only good at hyping things up and not delivering.
@JamesLikesCoffee

@@propersod2390 Jesus that really struck a chord for you, didn't it? Rumours and speculation go a long way, but assuming the processor is indeed outdated, perhaps the watch is optimised for that particular processor. In this case, there is no need to go for a more powerful one as this could lead to a higher cost, with more poor battery performance. Regardless, it is exactly that...speculation. we can't tell for certain, especially considering how the product is to be launched much later down the line; things may change. But what I want to know is how this is so pressing for you. It may be a terrible product by comparison. Samsung may be better. But I just wanted to express my interest in the product: is that too much of a problem? You don't like Google products, fine (or at least the watch in particular), but does that authorise you to belittle my contrasting appreciation?
@nankinink
2 жыл бұрын
@@Muscleduck I'm afraid that Google setting a benchmark might not happen at all. Their products always kinda sucks when compared to the competition, save for a Pixel phone or the Google Home assistants. They could at least innovate on the format and set this benchmark by offering a different view of the smartwatch, kinda difficult since Google isnt trying to break paradigms but rather following trends with a tiny "google twist". At least that's what I see following them all these years. Said so, I'd love to see Google succeeding on it and creating a new standard smartwatch, but my hopes are actually zero lol
@propersod2390

@@JamesLikesCoffee Bro its not speculation. It is according to reputable sources. And when it comes to google those sources are almost always right. You do realize someone already HAD the pixel watch in public right? And there was an ebay listing for it? 😂😂 But sure, you can be dense if you want. The watch WILL suck and its a waste of money.

The thing I love the most about my Withings watches is that I can turn the ringer on my phone off and set the phone to not vibrate and let the watch notify me with the vibrate feature, this even works to wake me up in the morning and I am a notoriously hard to wake up.

I genuinely love hybrid watches and smart bands. They're a much better fit for what I want from a smart accessory. I don't need "a phone, just worse, on your wrist". I need something that tells me the time, gives me notifications, and keeps track of my steps. And hybrids just work best for that. Now if only Casio could release a hybrid Casio Retro I would be a happy camper.

Linus, try Garmin fenix 7 line. Just got fenix 7 saphire solar, month ago, and it's amazing. Long battery life, very accurate health metrics, good insights in your training and recovery, stress and so on. After using Samsung sporty smartwatch for 4 generations in a row, I am shocked by how smart this watch can also be. And on top of that, it no longer look like a tank. Just a rugged ish style above medium size watch. The display allows you to see time anytime of day easy same as analog would. For someone as you who is also doing a lot of sports, I think it would be great.

Withings is a HORRIBLE company. They collect your health data and sell it. Shocked you did a sponsorship with them. Really disappointed. Also no mention in the video at all about data privacy or the fact that they require you to put your health data on their servers in order to use the basic functionalities of this thing (as well as all of their other health based products). If you're going to track my personal data and sell it, then you need to either explicitly be up front about it, and discount your product accordingly, or you need to pay me for the data that I'm providing, or give me a way to opt out.

I’m a massive watch fan. I’ve owned over 10 Swiss watches from a Tag Heuer, to a Rolex, a Hamilton, an Omega, an IWC, and finally a Tudor Black Bay. I really like the look of traditional watches, so this looks perfect for what I would want in a smart watch. It has the perfect mix of traditional and technological features without being a big screen. I love that dive watch aesthetic and a proper 100m specification to go with it too. Great video guys. Withings is definitely on my list.

I've been using Withings watches for years (I have 2) and they are the best. I'm planning to buy a third. With no GPS they are still very accurate in measuring distances and very good at recognizing the activity, sometimes scary how it knows what I'm doing. Some downsides that the app can randomly log you out, the cheap Withing Move watch has a bit soft plexy glass which scratches easily and sometimes when I drive it adds to my steps. Otherwise highly recommended watches.

You can get that Or just buy a g-shock with bluetooth. It will be indestructible, it’s just as respectable as a Rolex, it will track your steps, tell you the temp and so on. The only thing it won’t have is the sp02 sensor (which is pretty pointless since any type of saturation issue will be clearly visible- ever been out of breath? 😅) and the ecg which can basically only tell if the heart rythm is regular (and once again- if it sudenly stops being regular then most likely you will pass out within a second or two). Just buy the godtier casio man

I’ve had mine for about a month now and I love it. I typically wear it during the week for work. Some times on weekends with the blue band. For workouts and sleep, I use my Apple Watch. Why? Tracks stuff better, and to sleep it’s lighter. For what I need and use, it’s a combination that I like. I wish I could pull up notifications whenever I wanted. Now, if I don’t catch the notification when I comes in, I can’t go back later and see it. Also, it would be nice if I could make purchases using the watch (that’s not going to happen with Apple Pay I’m pretty sure). I just need to get used to carrying my phone more often.

Take a look at the Garmin smart watches. I’ve been daily driving a forerunner 55 for about a year and it’s the only smart watch I’ve been able to live with day to day for more than a couple months and now I’m looking into some of their higher end stuff. Excellent battery life, just enough functionality, and rugged as hell compared to most smart watches. I feel like they’ve been largely ignored by the tech community since they mainly market towards the fitness and outdoors space, but it’s by far the most useable smart watch of the dozen or so I’ve tried.

I think the best "smart" watch that I have ever used and still use is the Fossil Hybrids. I first bought the communter which just moved the dial for when you got a notification and some other things, i only replace the battery once a year. I also got the new Hybrid which has a dial and a LCD screen. It has a customizable background and you can put different modules that can tell temp, day, or battery perecent and stuff. The battery life is also around 2 weeks which is really nice, especially since it charges in like 20 min. Thats been my go to recommendation for "smart" watches.

As a wearer of a "dumb watch" that's relatively heavy. I absolutely love this. I have not adopted a smart watch because 99% of the time, I just want to know the time when i look at it, so the analogue watch face really appeals to me.

there are different watch faces for smart watches that only show time. The benefit on some display types is that a "dumb" watch face can improve battery life quite a bit because it updates less often.

ECG and O2 sensors don't work in Canada. You have to register as an American citizen to get those features to work. Withings has submitted an application to health Canada in 2011 and haven't followed up. Buyer beware if you're Canadian.
