@@Chiemontyr Imagine you had the bed down in some kind of manual mode. Your in bed and in the middle of the night the power comes back. The damn thing tries to return to home and jostles the bed around angrily till either you wake up and get up or it burns out the motor. Or worse actually has the HP to lift you and the bed and you wake up 6 feet off the floor and no way to make it descend.

@っき The alternative is buying one of those pump-up air beds. Can be plugged in, pumped up, then drained and folded up again easily. Now, they usually take between 5-15 minutes to pump up, but they aren't so bad otherwise. And obviously you may want some spare bedding

Thats a 25×10' space the size of a master bedroom in a house or around the size of a large tent. On one hand it's horrifying that everyone is getting crammed into tiny spaces, on the other it's nice to see that atleast a company making it livable is who we're allowing to capitalize on it.

I bought a 790 ft² one bedroom condo and I love it You learn how to adapt and it's interesting how you design things and make things work it's really amazing but everybody's so an advert of having the big house they're just nothing but headaches if you're going to decorate everything it's expensive it's too much work to maintain

The *real* reaon why *Americans* don't use this is because they have a dumb sense of space ("I need bigger/more!") and because these smaller studio apartments with extending/foldable space, are treated as novelties and sold/leased for ridiculous prices. The bed is the only bit that is actually frees up space. All the others still need the same amount of space to open. All this really gives you is the ability to leave something on the floor temporarily until you need to access your closet or office, which would be frequent. I'd bet most people would just leave everything open 99% of the time.

If you just look at occupied floor space you are correct but in terms of usable space it is not true. E.g if the closet is permanently open the space between wall and closet is technically not covered but the space is still pretty much unusable. The same goes for the WFH setup. It really just gives you space to move around in your apartment and opens up the living space. If you are the person who is to lazy to press two buttons to close your WFH and closet I guess you are right but it being automated really makes it a no brainer to just close it.

That is the general idea. put the bed up when you want to watch tv or eat dinner. or maybe workout at home. Put the desk away and the bed up if you have a party or gathering to mingle.
