The main use case for this, which was not reviewed here, was its Teams integration. Using the dongle allows Teams and mute to be in sync and increases the range. No more - your device on mute but screen says you’re unmuted. Using the boom to mute both hardware and software together is flawless. If you’re in Teams all day like me the $50 difference from the jlab is worth it. And if your are a Microsoft fan, you probably have Bing points like me which I used for a heavy discount. Shipping was free in one day. This replaced my expensive Jabra 65, and I’m very pleased.

It's a shame most of the features that set this headset apart (the Teams button, muting, answering calls etc) don't work on MacOS :(. On MacOS it just functions as a basic bluetooth headset (speaker + mic)
@royalh13

This biggest issue that I've noticed with this headset so far - only 1 week in - is that once the headset times out from no use, it takes around 2-3 seconds for the headset to come out of hibernation and then the voice guidance goes on to tell you that it's connected to the USB dongle, and how much battery life left. Both of these things also delay the time before you can speak to someone on the other end - which ends up being around 6-8 seconds of delay. This delay makes it so that if you try to answer an incoming Teams call, from the time you use your mouse to answer the call, it will be 6-8 seconds before you can say anything. There's a setting you can change, through the Microsoft Accessory Center, that turns off the voice prompt, but then you won't know how much battery is left, and it still takes 4-5 seconds before the light on the USB dongle lights up white, to indicate the headset has connected with the dongle and you can start speaking.

Odd about your mic performance... mine sounds fantastic. The issue I had with these was how tight the seal is on my ears. There's no pressure relief and while the noise rejection is amazing, being able to hear my own heartbeat on a call is a little distracting, if not uncomfortable - they made my ears hot. Felt like I was having a Tinnitus episode too...

@@TechOutAdam Yeah, my kid had the same complaint with them as I did. I messed around with them some more and noticed that if the mic was muted, I couldn't hear myself as well as with it on, as the mic audio is piped through the headset... explains the tight seal too - they block all the room noise with a tight muff, then play the mic audio back with inverted background noise, to kill the room noise. I imagine there is another mic somewhere on headset too, for this effect to work. I may try them on my next flight instead of my earbuds.

Wow, too bad about the mic recording quality. I was hoping something better than the JLab Go Work would appear. I mean, I have a budget that's slightly above $50, but not as high as the next cheapest headsets (Jabra). There just seems to be a huge voice in the $50-$150 space that nobody's filling. Was hoping these would be worth the extra money since they do look nicer. Oh well. Might have to spring for the JLab then.

That’s too bad this wasn’t a winner!! I am a sucker for flip to mute controls, but this has too many compromises! The price isn’t terrible, and would be downright enticing if the jlab didn’t exist, but this doesn’t seem like twice the headset of the Jlab like it’s priced!

Good review! I am on my 2nd pair because I use them for work, integrated with Teams. The microphone arm is very fragile and if it pops out, it can't be repaired - and that's why. The tiny plastic housing joint doesn't give, it breaks. Like many headphones, it has a few voice prompts to walk you through bluetooth setup. The replacements came programmed for Spanish rather than English. No problem, right? Just change it. Nope. There is no obvious way to change it, unfortunately. In addition, every so often the replacement pair (which I am returning) will tell me, sometimes several times in a row - in Spanish - which device it's connected to. I don't need to know that. The first pair did not have this behavior. Might be a firmware issue but this unit doesn't look that sophisticated. Disappointing. If they weren't so great for Teams (my company went full in) when they actually work, and are intact, I'd move to something else.

Because if were talking best value for the money, $49 for the JLab Go Work is an amazing headset for the price. I did a review on that one. Sound quality for music and podcasts plus the noise cancelling microphone make it an awesome headset. If you want to step it up a notch to that $200+ range than I'd suggest something like the Logitech Zone Wireless. Better comfort, has Active Noise Cancelling, an app to equalize music and sound and the microphone will perform better especially on a computer with the USB dongle it comes with. Just some examples I'm throwing out there.

the only problem with the Jabra headsets is the horrible connection with microsoft teams. it drops all the time for no reason and you have to manually disconnect them and use computer speakers (big discomfort when you're in an open space). I love my jabra headsets but since my company uses only teams, I had to buy also the microsoft ones because they're meant to work well with MS products....at least the jabra team should make it clear that they don't work well with all platforms.
