Definitely, however according to some of their studies, they claimed that certain individuals were completely “symptom free” after a trial period (whatever that means). I feel like the people who developed this game have never actually talked to a person with adhd about what issues they face in every day life It always just gets boiled down to attention span being the issue, even though adhd comes with so much more than that. But since it‘s the most known symptom, they develop these kind of ‚treatments‘ to basically put a bandaid on a very small part of the whole disorder.
@FrenkTheJoy

Funnily enough adhd is caused due to the brain not recieving enough dopamine due to dulled receptors so that is why the attention span is soo low, because we are constantly looking for ways to boost dopamine. Thats why people with adhd hyperfixate, because the dopamine intake can be a lot to someone who isnt normally recieving it, it would normally cause someone to fixate on that source, especially if the body feels deprived. So theoretically a videogame could be used to treat adhd, but it seems to be heavily individualistic and not necessarily for everyone as we all have different interests and ticks.

I feel like a true test would be to try the test again after not playing the game for a week and see how your score changes. You said yourself that you weren't even really trying the first time you took it, and that can skew the results. You don't want to give credit to the app for something that could just have been you putting in more effort.
@lucas23453

I once took an IQ test that was very similar to this. When I wasn't trying, my IQ was considered so low it broke the test. After forcing myself to focus and frying my brain I was able to get 97... IQ tests don't really take ADHD into account.
@TheBluestflamingos
6 ай бұрын
The improvement in the test was probably due to the effects of practice. Most of the time, doing the same test more than once will see improved scores. To improve this experiment, one would have to try to eliminate other contributing factors so the only thing that changes is the game. In a real study, they would have a control group for this reason. -Group A takes the test, spends a week playing this game, then retakes the test. Record their improvement score. - Group B takes the test, spends a week playing Subway Surfers, the takes the test again. Compair their improvement score to the group A. Did the specialized game help, or is a level of improvement to be expected regardless? Since you only have one test subject, I would've done the test a bunch of times before adding the game, so you could forcast the expected level of improvement and compare it to the reality. If you usally improved 10% per try, and after trying the game your improvement rate went up to 30%, that would imply the game helped in some way. If you continued to improve along the predicted pattern, you could conclude the game didn't contribute much to the results.

As a school psychologist I can almost guarantee that the improved score is due to practice effects from taking the same test twice in a week, not the game itself. Interesting video, just thought I'd share that! :)
@lizzyblitz07

Oooh! I have an important note for a school psychologist. Recent (robust) studies have found 60-70% of adults with ADHD have Delayed Sleep/Wake Phase Syndrome. Teenagers often have a similar effect during puberty, but it goes away. Seasonal depression lamp therapy in the morning will help students regulate their sleep cycle (specifically neurodivergent kids, but it could help all teens struggling with a messed up circadian rhythm. Not sure). The other steps are having good sleep hygiene, and even getting smart lightbulbs that turn on to help them wake up, and dim closer to bedtime to signal it's time to wind down. I have both of these things and Narcolepsy with Cataplexy so I've looked a lot into the sleep science research coming out. It's literally life changing. Especially the sun lamp therapy

This was extremely interesting and it's awesome to see you make a video from such a personal place. As a fellow adhd fuck, I really hope to see more stuff like this from you in the future. The group test, the hypothesis.... this was so well put together and you kept all your humour and charm Rock on, man 🤘

Have you considered that you may have improved at the memory test the second time because, by virtue of doing it the first time, you had spent time learning how it works and practicing it? This is something you have to account for in science when administering the same test repeatedly, people do tend to improve with exposure.

This was an interesting watch because I’ve been getting this ad constantly and I’ve watched it’s rating drop from like 4.8 stars to 4.2. It’s really fascinating to find out that it helped you though.

I have ADHD and when I saw that ad for the mobile game, all it did was confuse me and hurt my brain with all the flashing stuff all at once. Didn't play it, obviously. Also there's no "cure" for ADHD, and it's stupid when games claim that it can cure stuff like that. It's only a whole bunch of bait for people who are desperate, gullible, and willing to pay for their wild subscriptions.

It sounds lame but 15 minutes of "silently counting as high as I can with my eyes closed" gradually helped with daily focus. I could only get to like 20 before my attention scattered and lost count, but I could actually track progress as I reached higher counts

Video games actually do help me with my adhd but only because I use it to create positive associations and I utilize games with loading screens and cutscenes I've already seen before (when replaying a game I've played before) to do other stuff like homework (when I was taking classes) or reading or writing or other hobbies that I have difficulty doing on their own. Though medication has worked relatively well for me (doesn't solve all my problems but helps with energy and motivation since I get a lot of fatigue from my adhd) and using video games this way works best for me when I'm medicated.

I feel like playing normal video games does mostly the same thing already. Testing your ability to focus and simple puzzles and memory tests, basically every skill being tested by this mobile game is tested to an equal or greater degree by, for example, the re4 remake. Reflexes, multitasking and split second decision making are tested all at once in combat, the puzzles mostly test pattern recognition and new game plus heavily rewards having a good memory. I guarantee playing sekiro has improved my ability to focus more than a bad temple run clone ever could.
