Nice video but a couple corrections. Nuclear radiation is electromagnetic radiation too. Infrared is low energy radiation, even lower than visible light which is also em radiation. While nuclear ones like xray is high energy radiation. Other one is that infrared doesn't come after red, its before it. Red follows rest of the colours since its the longest wavelength and least energy, all other colours are higher energy and come after it. Before it lies even lower energy waves like infrared and microwaves.

Nuclear radiation (also called ionising radiation) is energy released as high-speed charged particles or electromagnetic waves. Radiation can come from many sources, both natural and manufactured.

Nuclear radiation IS electromagnetic radiation. Look at the short wavelength side of the electromagnetic spectrum.
@averagecornenjoyer6348
2 жыл бұрын
not all, just gamma radiation, which is called like that because, it's made of high energy photons, shot out from an alpha or beta residual nucleus, so gamma. alpha is a helium nucleus, beta is an electron and its antineutrino, or the antiparticles of those, "epsilon" or electron capture is a nucleus absorbing an electron and all the ones above dropping down shooting an x-ray photon out, and then neutron emission, which is just a neutron being shot out. Sometimes fission is also listed as decay but it's not a radiation.
@Ds-um3hb
2 жыл бұрын
One correction that nuclear radiation is also on the electromagnetic chart but to the far right so visible light, ultraviolet light, and radio waves aren't as strong and won't give you cancer, actually ultraviolet but u would need a good amount, although they don't give cancer they can still raise your body temp

Can you believe someone would make a video about buying a cheao junker off amazon and then immediately go on about what thermal imaging is? Its amazing at how content creation has become some of the most dumb stuff of the 21st century
@madmax2069
Жыл бұрын
Ahh, there should be a setting to adjust the thermal overlay to match what the phones camera sees, but there's going to be a limit to how much you can adjust being that the phones camera is so far away from the thermal sensor. Distance from the camera plays a huge part in this as well, so its going to be hard to match the overlay of the termal image to the phones camera when the heat source inches away, it's like holding your finger inches away from your eyes and you eyes are focused on the wall. The working distance needs to be much further away than what you demonstrated in the video. This is going to be the issue with all of these kinds of thermal devices where the two cameras are soaced so far apart. The thermal aspect seems to work fine, sans the alignment of the overlay. I wouldn't give it a poo rating just for that reason alone.

"nuclear radiation" is a combination of alpha, beta and gamma rays, and while alpha and beta radiation are not on the electromagnetic spectrum as they are not pure energy and instead are highly energetic atoms as as opposed to pure energy, gamma rays are classed as electromagnetic radiation, and are therefore on the same scale as infrared, just much more powerful.

Plenty of "cheap" ones out there, these are developing somewhat rapidly the last few years so suggesting a model may not serve well. FLIR makes great thermal cameras, but they are not in the "cheap" category. It's best you look yourself, because there are many other features too, and only you know what's important for you and what's not. My suggestion: don't go lower than $200. Under that, you might maybe get an ok budget level sensor, but there's almost "no money left" for everything else that makes it a camera. Also make sure it has emissivity adjustment, and that the focal range will work for your intended use, as the cheap ones tend to have limited range. If you're looking at PCBs, make sure it has a macro lens or can support distance down to 3 inches or less - as the common range for cheap ones often start at 6-7 inches. That might not provide enough detail for really small stuff.
