Love the styling... well the front and back bits but disappointingly it's an iD-3. This probably means the Satnav is next to useless, the windows will most likely lock open when you're driving (and only close once you stop and turn it off and on again), the Lane Keeping Assist is utterly crap (and possibly dangerous), the haptic controls are rubbish (and aren't illuminated at night, what's that all about), the adaptive cruise control is poor at best (thinks you're on a roundabout when passing over or under on the motorway when you're not). Engineering wise this car is likely to be as good as the iD-3 but if the software is the same it's going to be rubbish, rubbish, rubbish. I can say all this because I had an iD-3 for 6 months. I leased it and gave it back because I was fed up with taking it back to the dealership for software updates (that were not that good. My list of faults with the iD-3 was very long and way more than the above). I feel sorry for all those that have bought an iD-3 (and ordered the Cupra El-born), they think they have a state of the art car and quite simply, they don't. A friend who dismantled the iD-3, including going through the software (it's what their company do), found that it appeared it had been written by many different people, and it showed, especially when they aren't talking to each other, much like the software. To conclude, great driving car and crap software! Until the VW Group get their act together (software that is) this is one stable I shall be avoiding. Shockingly bad. My previous car was a Hyundai ioniq electric and given it's technology was already 5 years old when I got the iD-3 it was (and probably still is) a better, more advanced car. I had zero issues in 3 1/2 years compared to the first two weeks of ownership of the iD-3. Apologies, I know this should really be posted on the iD-3 video but I'm so cross at VW Group for producing a very disappointing car. VW! Please, please, please get your software engineers to talk and work together and DON'T release a product until it is ready for market!!!!!!!

@simonyapp
3 жыл бұрын
I think (chime in if you know more) to do one peddle driving well it needs either 4 wheel drive or front wheel drive because when you slow a car with brakes or regen if it’s only slowing the rear wheels they can slip or skid as most the weight ‘falls’ to the front wheels whilst de-accelerating. A bit like when you apply to much back brake on your push bike and the rear wheel locks up. Nissan Leaf 40Kwh manages to pull off 1 pedal driving but it’s front wheel drive. You realise all vws since e-Golf do an adaptive regenerative breaking when actually pushing the breaks pedal. The breaks will be added when the e motor reaches its limit of creating deceleration which you will not feel. Which i find is the best solution. No need for regen modes.

Idk but on kona the brakes drive me mad. I press the pedal and they do whatever they want. I prefer the brake pedal to be just pure physical brake and have regen breaking controlled solely from the throttle.

@@HanYou2 that supports my admiration for what VW did in my e-Golf: the combination of regen and brakes are completely fluent. I already drove I'd.3 and I'd.4 as well it's the same.

Thing is, after reading all the glowing reviews of the Polestar 2 and watching videos of it at the Nurburgring keeping up with Ferrari’s and Porsche's I want a Polestar 2, not some dog dead slow car like the Cupra-Boring, esp since new cars cost a fortune, I want something a bit fun and exciting.

Aside from a pretty significant price difference those two are also just two very different cars aren't they? I don't think a lot of people ever really came down to a decision between a 3 series and a Golf and with more and more choices in the EV market, people can now also just choose their preferred type of car.
@donaldduck5731

@@axelfiedler Dont know if that's true. I like the ID3, polestar and Tesla model 3, they would all get me from A to B on electrons, fit on my drive and carry all the stuff I need them to. To me range, build quality, user controls, styling and driving experience are way more important than if it's a saloon, hatchback or little SUV. Also for may people price is not the governing factor within reasons. VW group needs to make a dual motor ID3 and also a dual motor Cupa Born, they make a dual motor ID4 SUV which is daft in my opinion.

Really nice looking car and much better than ID3 which looks ok (ish) like the Golf and typical VW. Its not as boring as the ID3 but will VW add a sporty looking GT version of the ID3? £33k for 58kW version very tempting. Range will not be good in cold weather or when Aircon on. Some ID3 owners reporting 50 to 100 mile range with heaters on in cold weather of 260 mile range car. Its quiet on Spanish tarmac but will not be so quiet on UK "maintained" roads with rubbish low grade tarmac with 20" wheels. Waiting for Audi to bring out similar / A3 size which could be sportier (hopeful future owner).

I am looking forward to buying my first all electric vehicle. I just sold my 2017 Cadillac CT6 Plug-in Hybrid back to the Dealership. MY worry is range anxiety and finding charge stations on long trips. Does the Cupra Born have a program ( APP ) built into the dash to show up coming electrical charge stations much like TELSA ? I'm not sure what was said about the quick charging system .... Please explain again. Will this vehicle except a quick charge much like the KIA EV6 or the Hyundai EV5 ? both offer a charging port locator for long trips. I currently have a J1772 240V charger in my garage. Will that work on the Cupra Born. Will it be sold at the VW dealerships in the USA ? And Thanks ....Loved your Video. Bill

I do like a sporty bit of flanging! 😆 And between this an the ID3, it'd be the Born for sure.

Honestly I think the Born is the most beautiful EV. I have never associated Spain with reliable engineering, but I love a hot hatch. I own a mapped FIAT that LEAPS off the line and has cost me more in repairs (90% done by me lying on my back under it in 4C february British weather witth eh engine 2cm from my face with oil on my face and grit in my eyes) than it did to buy so tbh I give more of AF about it being beautiful and fun than I do about it being practical and reliable. I would buy one of these.

Unfortunately neither as In Australia you can’t get them yet. But if it was available the Cupra looks so much better. Exterior design Interior design looks so much better. Battery composite very similar under MEB platform.

Sorry, (I'm Canadian) but what is a "hot hatch"? This is a term that you bandy about a bit, and I just think, "Hatchback" which my current Matrix is. My insurance company refers to it as a "wagon" which is what you term an "estate" car. I'm confused.

The ID3 looks like a fridge on wheels. This has some character. Unfortunately due to stupid people buying large vehicles in North America we will not be getting either. Only the ID4. 🤦

Google Maps is just as slow. It cannot direct you before the junction, it is always after and this is why I still use paper maps. Have you noticed how businesses on the digital maps are sometimes on the wrong side of the road? I enjoy driving, I have to have a punchy music system for my Punk tunes and this is where many brands fail to deliver. I am not interested in saving the planet, I am 57 and still interested in the acceleration.

It's MUCH better looking than the ID.3 which is weird given they're such a similar shape with so few changes. Still feels like a half measure, no frunk, no VTL, average performance, average efficiency, average range.

What’s the point of all these car companies launching these new cars and promoting and advertising same when there are very few available. All these electric cars have a lot of tech which needs a lot of chips which right now are not available. It’s a joke. Even the Merc Eqs with the unique MBuX screen is not expected to be available in Ireland until 2nd half 2022, even though the car is on sale now!! What a joke
