That said, the feel I got from that plugin in this video is that it tries hard to seem like a simple and easy plugin that does one thing well but they just mess it up with all the cuteness and humour. How do I fix that? - Add soundgoodizer on a master bus!! - My soundgoodizer doesn't sound too good, what do I do? - Add more soundgoodizers!!! I'm kind of afraid by amount of one-knob plugins with funny characters on a frontplate. Sausage Fattener was fun, but then many more plugins came and they didn't really bring anything new. If you want a thickener/fattener from a reputable company, and one that actually works, you might find some joy with Oxford Inflator. It's a waveshaper/saturator that was big in the '00s, and was coded by one of the engineers responsible for the SSL G-series and Sony OXF-R3 consoles (guy named Paul Frindle, really knows his stuff). It's really the only "sound-betterer" plugin that I've seen produce pleasing results, and it can work as a clipper, peak limiter (sort of), and in multiband mode - all with surprisingly few controls and zero latency. It sounds like snake oil, but actually... isn't? There's a free trial too, I hear that's increasingly rare nowadays. 😉

Learning to "thicken" your tracks/sound is a skill that you really just have to learn through experience. Theirs no real quick fix for this so don't get suckered into these dumb plugin's that promise to make your music sound amazing. It just doesn't work like that. Just keep working on your sound design, mixing and EQing skills and I promise you will get there sooner than you think and you will be more empowered knowing that you know how to achieve a thick sounding beat/tune without using these mysterious novelty plugins. It's actually quite easy to achieve once you know what you're doing. Thanks White Sea for sharing this review. I hope you don't mind me hijacking this with my own opinion

I like this plugin. It is easy to use, gets fast results, and while it is not as flexible as Saturn, for the music it is intended, its great. The 3 knobs offer 3 different flavours which you can use independently, of mix and match, and I never max them all out to the point where the gain button is not enough. Now, here's a hint: if you really need to push it that hard, then you can always add another gain plugin after. But before you do, it may be appropriate to ask yourself why you're feeling the need to destroy your sound to that extent. There might be something better you can do with your time. Only annoyance is that it phases if you try to use it in parallel. It must have some sort of multi band thing going on inside, shame as it makes for a great drum bus smasher to blend in.

I value your input, Wytse. I rarely if ever disagree on your assessments of different plugins' interfaces, functionality, and general usefulness. This plugin, to me, embodies a big problem with new VSTs. They tend to lean towards the One Knob idea and not innovate in terms of functionality. As an anti-example, I submit Analog Obsession's newer plugins, which rarely go without automatic gain comp. Hopefully plugin creators will come to their senses and deliver better tools for us.
