The MirrOdine is a great bait, I carry one MirrOlure in my small kayak fishing arsenal, however, the one that I’ve found that beats them all is the Yo-Zuri 3D Inshore Series Twitchbait. You’ll find me using that one on my channel a lot because it puts fish in the boat. Love your videos Lawson!

Agreed, that Mirrodine is hard to beat. In March on a Colombia trip I tied on a redhead Mirrodine XL which is still only about 3" and threw near a sandbar. The guide motioned me to cast it to the bushes in front of us so I burned the little lure back in, it got whacked as soon as it speeded up by a 15# peacock. The next cast to the same spot got a 16. We go thru all these preparations with big lures and switching out to stronger hooks, the Mirrolure right out of the box gets it done. Another one that I throw a lot is the YoZuri Sashimi Jerkbait (SP) suspending. I've gotten jack, mackerel, snook, bass, peacocks, clown knife fish, and my first jaguar guapote a few days ago on this thing. It has that shimmy as it falls after a twitch that works so well, all colors work. They come with trebles or circle hooks and like the Mirrodine aren't an expensive bait.

Mirrodine and Mirrolip are my go to inshore, jetty, surf and nearshore hardbait for the gulf of Mexico. Honorable mention to the Yozuri 3DS and the classic Johnson weedless silver spoon. Academy has Mirrolure sales often and I load up. Yozuri's seem to be more expensive here and I never catch the walmart sales.

Ladyfish are fun for sure, and as you mentioned, great lunker snook bait. I don't throw subsurface hard baits often(I have a hard time putting the jerk shad away) but when I do it is a mirrodine, a rattletrap, or a gold spoon. I run 10 lb. braid on my 2500's as well so I can make the long casts to reds on the flats, but I still go with 25 lb. leader in S. Florida due to snook.

Well Lawson, over here on the gulf coast in the Charlotte Harbor area, I’ve had waaay more luck throwing Rapala XRaps. Specifically the SXR-8 and SXR-10 in either Olive Green or Mangrove Minnow colors... unless I’m throwing off the beach then it’s Glass Ghost. I’ve caught everything from Snook, Jacks, Juvie Tarpon, Macks, and even a couple Gags and one heck of a unit of a Mangrove Snapper. I have almost no luck with Mirrodine Twitch baits here.

Lawson dude I would love it if you tried to throw some unfair lure greenie twitchbaits. I grew up always throwing mirrodines but I tried the bigger sized unfairs and let me tell you they're my absolute go to and my confidence bait now. I've caught my 2nd personal best redfish on one (about 30 inches) and more snook than I can count. It'd be sick if you want to try them, I would definitely recommend looking into them, because they catch pretty much everything and weed out most of the smaller fish. God bless man
