Rob, just a note of encouragement, Banks are your enemy, don't ever think different, I learned that when I was in my 20's the hard way when I tried to start farming, and when it went south, I just like you, thought this was the end of the world. Being bullheaded I went forward anyways without the help of any banks, and looking back , being screwed over by one at an early age was one of the best things that ever happened to me, along with not being able to farm at that location. The phrase about a door closing and a window opening is very true, what seems tragic, is actually a blessing, but because it doesn't happen over night sometimes it's hard to see. Best of luck to you my friend, especially on your health👍👍. The mighty Allis will bring you through this, I still have the Allis Chalmers my uncle bought new in 1971, its hard for people to understand the connection between man and machine, but that tractor has been a part of life, and it's like a mighty rock by my side. All the best, hang tough! (Less talk, more 21!) Lol for old times sake

Hey Rob, I was just online looking at realestate, just looking at the local area, prices etc, seen this nice large block, so had a look. 1st photo - no idea, 2nd photo cattle and dogs, yep, the 3rd photo of the rock and dogs i thought it looks familiar, next couple of photos didnt give much away, then the jeans and boots photo - thought thats looks like what Rob would do - hang out and enjoy the view and Cattle, then a close photo of the cattle looked familiar. when i got to the Donkey photo it was really putting things togeather and then the young fella on the bonnet gave it away. come over to you tube and you confirmed it. All that really matters in your health. there are multiple you tube channels that have changed and evolved over the years, you have an ability to sit in front of a camera and talk and your good at it and that's not easy. I wish the very best to you and your family and hope everything works out. keep posting when you can, i'll keep watching.

Thanks Greg, I’m not overly happy with the photos on the site but I guess it doesn’t matter if it gets the job done. You never think of talking to camera as a skill till you see someone else making a meal of it🤷. Who knows what the future holds, we just have to get through the present problems and we shall see.

Thanks Tom, under capitalised I thinks is the term, which is fine if you can work and make ends meet but I don’t currently have that option. We will be fine we still have some land and I have enough lease country for the cattle. The dream isn’t dead it just has to be postponed for a bit. By selling the block it will give us some options like doing up the property we have and making it worth a few more dollars so that when the time comes we can sell it and maybe get another property, of course all of that hinges on what happens to my health and debt creates stress and stress I can do without.👍🏼

Hi Rob, That is not the start to the year you were expecting, if you do sell the block i would keep the channel and post a video when you can, like some of the other comments it would be good to keep up to date with your health, their are lots of Homesteading channels around you could possibly go down that path for awhile. What ever decision you make all the best. Look after yourself.

I've seen many channels change their direction with the full support of their subscribers. if you get a good deal with the mountain block you might be able to keep the Argo - and come convoy with me. Or even find a different more cost effective slice of land. If you do the transplant, document your journey on the channel, you likely will help others with your story. I have Multiple Sclerosis and had to make some massive changes in life including abandoning the work I love.

Howdy Rob. First off your health is THE most important factor out of all of this. Second, your family and thier well being follows along here. Third, having a liver transplant is a major surgery but not the end of the world. I have a friend that just had one and although it's not a walk in the park it is something that can be done and with good treatment and a wonderful donor you will be fine and back at it again soon. I was explaining your situation to my wife and she suggested that you might wish to start a "Go Fund Me" so that you can keep the Block and the Allis and the cows, pigs, chickens, worms... whatever. If you put your mind to it you can do it, as we have seen the tenacity you have when rescuing the Allis. Keep producing the vid's as we all want to keep in the loop with your health and the situation of the block. Please take care! Were all pulling for ya!
@mountainblokemoments
Жыл бұрын
Thanks Rob, really appreciate your comment. Like a lot of my generation I struggle with the go fund me concept, it’s hard enough for me to ask for help with people I know let alone those I don’t and can never repay. Kell and I went through lots of ideas on how to go forward with everything but most ended with selling the mountain block as the way forward. I owe to my boys not to be the grumpy sick dad trying to get stuff done and I owe it to my wife to keep the stress both financial and emotional to a point she can cope with. Will see what this chapter holds for us and hopefully the next one is a bit brighter.

Your probably right we could hunt around through mortgage brokers and find someone that would lend us money but at the end of the day without me contributing to the repayments of our debt we would be stuck just getting by and if I end up in Brisbane having to rent down there as well it all starts to look like a shitfight plus the emotional strain on Kell to be the only breadwinner and deal with me being crook, it just ends up making sense to sell the property and reorganise ourselves before we are forced to.
